Not bad at all for a 2GB / 16GB Rom box, I ended up getting a 1GB some time ago and being pained by dragging it's heels. I paid a little more than this at the time too. Would suggest a minimum of 2GB Ram if you're looking for a box at the moment.

So basically you are complaining that illegal content is being blocked and builds containing illegal streams etc are being closed down? This has nothing to do with the box. Heat for price.
And illegal streaming and isp blocking should happen. Don't use kodi or builds for illegal uses and it won't be an issue.
Yes, a VPN will enable you to sidestep the ISP blocking issue, but if the addons are no longer available, it doesn't matter.
I'm annoyed by this as I used to use the awesome Apollo build but stripped out most of the addons. I just liked the way that it was set up with the Aeon Nox Silvio skin for use with my own media library.
Wiped my Kodi at the weekend and now that Ares Wizard is gone, so are almost all the good builds.

Lol, read my post again pal.
So just for clarity before your high horse rides off into the sunset I was stating TWO things.....
1) I was ADVISING those that use these Kodi boxes for illegal content (and I honestly believe that most who purchase them do) will probably not be able to use them for that anymore.
2) I was COMPLAINING that the build I use is no longer accessible. As I said "I strip out most of the add-ons". I use the build because of the way that the skin is configured, the backdrops it supplies, the menus and list views that are pre-configured. This can save me about 5 hours of set up time each time I refresh my HTPC. I do retain some of the addons that access illegal content (like UK Turks), but generally use them to access legal content that can be accessed via iplayer (not found an iplayer addon that works as well as UK Turks, or stand alone iplayer).
And lets be honest, even ripping your own media is illegal, or at least it was when I gave up reading the endless amateur lawyers arguing about it, which pretty much bins Kodi.
The only legit uses I can think of for these are Amazon, Iplayer and Netflix.
You... do know that... Kodi isn't just there to give you... illegal plugins... right?
Considering Kodi is far more than just a platform to stream, or no longer stream, illegal content, there are far other uses for these boxes.
It's a shame that these boxes have gained a reputation for illegally streaming content as they're perfect little media players.
The numerous Android streaming apk's all seem to still be working just fine. I found Kodi beyond frustrating but the apk's are much more reliable.
Yeeeeeeeeeesssssss, please see my post above. I've used Kodi as a front end for my own personal media collection since it was XBMC on the original Xbox fyi. Although entirely ripped frpm my own discs (or downloaded replication of discs I own), is still probably illegal.
Many people will buy these boxes thinking they can stream, and will be disappointed when they find they can't. Although, others clearly don't, I have some sympathy for them, thus my post.
Silly though, they don't go after Chrome or Firefox when you can get exactly the same sources that way. It's just because it's made it easy for people. It should really tell them something about the industry.
I think its David & Goliath. Except Goliath wins. The Ares Wizard, doesn't host any illegal content, neither do the streaming add-ons. They are not illegal, however if you are a small team of unpaid developers and are facing the might of the RIAA are you going to spend hundreds of thousands of $ fighting the RIAA (and potentially years in court) or are you just going to call it a day and get your coat.
Google has teh muscle to give teh RIAA a big two finger salute.
The Android OS can still be used for Netflix, Amazon Video, Spotify etc. If NowTV works the same as Sky go, it won't work over HDMI.
Kodi can be used for a private media collection and illegal streaming if you have a VPN, (although the addons for this are up and down like a yo yo), but other than that, they are no better than a cheap android tablet. In fact an amazon fire stick or an android tablet and a chromecast is probably far more user friendly.
Depends... is your phone useful to you other than making phone calls? Big screen Android gaming, mini computer with email etc, USB stick easy access. There's always a use I suppose.
Totally agree with both your comments. If I didn't feel like I was getting royally ripped off these days for digital media streaming, I would be happy to pay the price to watch content online (not that you even said you were using it for these purposes). After all, it's not like I want to download the content to keep, I want to stream it. Prices for streaming these days is ridiculous considering it's digital media, and are far cheaper to reach the consumer than it's ever been.
I have zero guilt that these huge conglomerate companies are receiving slightly less profit for their crime because people are refusing to be ripped off.
Never ever use builds, you've no idea what's in them. Manually install the add-ons you need.
Just don't name them here or soon be idiots selling these boxes with them installed and ripping off people.
Nup. Still using pulse and still getting updates. Just gotta stay in the loop...
You can get usb tv tuners that plug in and record and some boxes have it built in, the interface on the ones I have used is not slick like a freeview box and it only had now and next not the 7 day full epg. In the end I went on ebay and got a Bt youview + box for about £35 (model DTR T2100) they have full epg & 500gb hard drive and a remote record app plus iplayer and netflix etc... Android boxes are good for lots of things but in my experience freeview isn't one of them
They're not exactly a secret.
You can watch all of uk catch up tv perfectly, Netflix HD, Kodi and any other APK app you want. All work at a decent speed without annoying slowdowns or frame drops.
It all just works and you get constant firmware update development unlike these android boxes that are nearly all neglected after release.
Yes, this is a restricted processor that can only do 30fps 4K
Ideally I would need an USB 3 version.
FYI, I knew that already
Ripping is a grey area but hey ho, you'd have to look into the law. I'm no expert.
I've since moved to Plex anywho, the benefits have won me over.
has saved me buying new boxes for now!

Eh read his comment again law abiding citizen.
He just vented frustration that his favourite app is gone. What's the harm in that.
Good price for the box
smart tvs are hilarious bad. i have here a top of line samsung from 2 years ago ish? tried to send a youtube link to it it says youtube app no longer supported on this tv. epic fail.
