Microsoft provide a 12 month warranty:

Cheaper to buy the bundle from Amazon and punt the games to CEX.

I got one this week for around £110.

The Quidco Ebay code implies you could get 40% cashback. Am I reading that correctly?
It's 40% of what ebay makes
This is going to get hot...

Yep, very quiet compared to the older phat 360's.
hot! not sure whether to get this or from amazon
Deal is hot, a matte black 250GB for this price is pretty good.
Not sure what the better deal is. Amazon or this?
What's the Amazon deal everyone's referring to? I've just had a quick look and nothing looks as cheap as this, anyone got a link please?
Hot deal - I bought a 4 gb slim for 120 - wish I'd bought a 250gb - hdd add on is sooo dear ! At about £60

Not sure if there cheaper, if they are buy the 250gb harddrive for the old fat Xbox 360. Take out the screws on the casing & inside is a 2.5" hard drive, this then slots straight into your console. I have the 4gb just like you last year & did this.
Or buy around £30 2.5 harddrive then mod it with free software so it works on the console.

dam the prices have rocketed for harddrives in general, you can try this one, £200 250gb, wtf!

Not true. It may have been a couple of weeks ago.

The best bundle from amazon currently is a 250gb Xbox, FIFA 12 & 12 month's live for £199. The resale on FIFA & 12 month's live is £33, so it's costing you £167 for the console. And that's without factoring in the cost of fuel/parking getting to cex.

This is the better deal.

only £33 for fifa and 12 months live?? that seems a bit cheap cex do fifa alone for £24, plus you then you have the live, worth more than £9, which im certain you could sell for around the £20 mark and you could also buy forza for £10 on amazon deal so trade in on that bout say £20 so takes amazon one down to around £141 agreed though its effort as well so both good deals, just depends which one you prefer.

Yeah sorry, bad maths on my part!!! Live is £19 cash from Cex, so the console is £157, not £167 as I first said.

Like you say, you could maybe get more for Fifa and 12 months live selling privately, but not much.

I think £149 from Zavvi/Ebay would prove to be less hassle for similar money.
My son is desperate for an Xbox for Christmas but he wants the Kinect too! Is it worth getting this and Kinect seperately or should I search for a good bundle? Please help! Thanks
hi natz85, amazon deal is £269.99 for xbox plus kinect.
kinect sold for about £100 mark if your lucky £109.00 on amazon
would make this ebay deal and kinnect seperate £258.99, so cheaper than the amazon bundle
but if you added the 2 extra games and live (extra £30) and sold them on for £20 each could get the amazon bundle for about £239 (xbox + kinect) if you can be bothered to sell on the games, but i have not looked for any cheaper kinnects, bit complicated i know because i too had to do the maths, i went for the amazon deal as sold the fifa for £25 to my brother and sold xbox points for £25 to a friend which made my xbox deal £149 so similar deal, i am going to buy the kinnect second hand for £50 from my sister

like i said bit complicated but hope this gives you a little insight, just depends if you want little hassle or not
do you definitely get the 12 month warrenty with this for £149.99?

Its better to go with the bundle for extra games - You can try out the tesco deal which has 3 games for £269
I needed to renew my Xbox Live membership (around £30). I got instead the Amazon deal which worked out at £172:

Skyrim + Halo Combat: -£52 (CEX)
Xbox Live Gold: -£30 (plus 600 points renewal promotion), which I would have paid anyaways
Xbox 4GB cost: £90 (I put my old 120GB hard drive into it)

Pitty I didn't get the 250GB when there was a glitch on the Amazon price.

This deal is OK I guess for the standalone console.

Can anybody offer any advice please? Do you need a hard drive this big and what is all the space used for? I don't know whether to get this or see if the 4gb drops in price.

The basic answer is: no you don't need a hard drive that big.

However, if you plan to go on xbox live and download demos, or rent/buy films, then a 250gb hard drive is a good idea. There is also an option to install disc based games that you have bought onto the hard drive, which improves loading performance and wear and tear on the dvd drive.

Some games I believe require a mandatory install (halo reach ?), Skyrim installs certain graphical textures onto the hard drive for example.

Yep, you can share Windows media content between a Windows PC and an xbox 360. You can also just put your films & music on an external hard drive and then connect that to the 360 and copy it across that way.

The main use for the hard drive (at least for me) is for game installations. You can install games on to the hard drive to avoid the noise from the DVD drive while playing, and also the games load faster (plus you are saving life on the laser).

But for that, just get the 4GB console, and get a 20GB hard drive from eBay for around £18. 20GB should be enough to install around 3 games.
Taken the plunge and ordered, didnt realise that Zavvi was part of the The Hut group, just hope they deliver quicker than when I ordered a blu ray from them, havent had much success with the the hut!!

Do you just connect a spare drive via USB or does it have to be installed in the Xbox?

On eBay the 20GB drives come with the Xbox casing (just like the original ones). So you just slot it into the console (easy and does not affect warranty).

Alternatively, you can buy any WD Scorpio Series 2.5 hard drive (has to be either 20gb, 60gb, 120gb etc ie. cannot be a size that is not produced by Microsoft), and then hack the firmware so it works with the Xbox. You can then buy a case for £2 and put the drive inside, and then put the whole thing into the Xbox just like with a original hard drive.

The connection is through SATA direct on the back of the slim console.
good for what deals are on at the mo i guess,
