If you buy the console don't forget to get a gamestation elite reward card, there free and you get 2.5% back in points - LINK

id rather pay an extra £20 for the 250gb

I'd rather hold out for the Celebration pack being £149 again. You could sell the extras and have a shiny new Xbox.

Arn't all the 250's glossy ones though? Or are they a mix?

Glossy 250gb models were discontinued awhile ago, all new 4gb/250gb Xbox 360s are in a matte finish now, the only exception to this is limited edition models like the celebration pack or upcoming Halo 4 320gb console.

If you buy a pre-owned 250gb though (4gb were always matte) chances are you will get an older heavily scratched glossy model.

The perils of posting on your phone

I did mean the pre-owned consoles sold by Game/Gamestation - not the new kit.

Yeh no doubt the 250gb is better value for money, but this is still cheaper and to be honest it's not as if most people come close to using the 250gb, also as others have said any gloss console will be scratched to ****, so it also depends on whether the look of the console is important to people :-).

thinking fo this for kid so i can co-op on seperate tvs butr 4gb is poor.

Yes you can, have a look here:

I really know nothing about Xbox, but my young daughter loves to play games with her friends using the Kinect so I am tempted.

I seem to remember that early Xbox got a reputation for unreliability (RRD), has that all been sorted out now?

That was the older - normally white - models. They are different in shape and colour.

Can I put a hard drive in this console? - then is it basically the same as the 250gb model?

Hi yes you can - official ones arnt that cheap though - what you can do is buy one of the old xbox elite hard drives of ebay for a few pounds - just take the casing off it and plug it in - no IT skills required just a screwdriver

There you go - £30 for a 120gb slim drive on Ebay - just slots into the side (a little less awkward and far more bulky than the old hard drives). The 250gb are only £40 so maybe it's worth the extra tenner. Just search "xbox 360 hard drive slim".

I've had a gloss 360 since the 1st week of release. Not being one to move it around, it's not scratched at all. As it is part of the first batch and therefore the oldest, I'm tempted to do the Halo 4 console deal and sell one of the Halo controllers and also the game (I'm not into Halo). The problem is, everything in my room is black, and the console is in very loud colours!

you can indeed upgrade youtube.com/wat…sns this video shows you how.

I'd recommend everyone upgrades the HD if you go for one of these. Most game installs are over 4gb, nevermind getting into downloading games from XBOX Arcade etc.

Average game install is around 6GB, so stick a few on there and 250GB gets filled pretty quickly. Also deals for used consoles that are barely cheaper than buying a new console annoy me big time

I have an arcade (jasper) sometimes the pic gets stuttery - is that something that just happens time to time or is it a sign sommats up?

Mine was getting pretty full up, so I just deleted the games that I had either sold, or was not currently playing. I only ever need about 5 or 6 games installed at a time. They only take 10 seconds to delete and 10 minutes to install anyway eh?

There are plenty of lists on the internet e.g. stripesonfire.com/xbo…st/ but it's pretty pointless relying on 4GB IMHO when the 120gb / 250gb drives are so cheap. I had a 20GB in mine but struggled, got a used 120GB cheap and life is much easier!

There are also quite a few guides on how to prepare a brand new drive for use in an Xbox if you don't fancy using a used drive.

Great price. Probably more suited to a second console for things like arcade games and movie streaming.

However, if you want a fully-fledged Xbox 360 with minimal fuss, the official 320 GB hard drive is just £60, which is a bargain compared to the extortionate prices of old Xbox 360 hard drives. It just slots right into the bottom of the unit. amazon.co.uk/Har…_vg

I Got the 4gb shiny model i think they called it the Elite, it cost me £30 to buy a 250gb hard drive which works like a dream and is used all the time. 4gb hard drive does not allow some games to be played, i can't remember which ones but i am sure some bright sparks on here will know. Also with a 4gb the kids could not download any demo's without having to delete some of those they had previously downloaded, with the bigger hard drive they have a long long list of demo's that keep them busy for ages, and also gives me the idea of which games they like and which i should buy.

I think this is a great way for people to get there first Xbox or replace a faulty one , so i am voting hot but i would have voted freezing if it was not such a good price as i personally think the 4gb model is a rip off by Microsoft as they know people will have to upgrade the hard drive eventually.

Mmmm..I'm really tempted to buy one for my son. I already had a PS3 but he will definitely like the kinect. Shall I get this one or wait for 250 one with kinect for 150 pounds which is currently unavailable.
And any ideas about the cost of these consoles around Xmas time. Thanks.

Hi I have been watching the 250gb with kinect for a while and very much doubt it will come in stock at that price.
They have it in stock but it's at £277.99 (preowned) - LINK
Prices will probably rise nearer christmas time so it could be worth getting in early, also the kinect sensor is available from gamestation for £49.99 with the psu, although it didn't get much heat it's a great price with the psu. LINK

Oh ****! Still as long as my HDD game saves don't go with it. (I should really back them up)

Regarding the 4gb being a rip off I actually see it the opposite. Its a great cheap way to upgrade to a new Slim model without needing to buy with it a MSFT HDD.

If Kinect is available at £50 then it might be a cheap way to get the Halo 4 console by trading in the 4gb console + Kinect + £99.

Maybe sell the game if you're not a Halo fan for £35 and also one of the controllers for £35. Not that many people use 2 these days, unless their kids both play split-screen.

If you can get the Kinect 'bar' cheap, a power supply from Ebay (3rd party but fine) is £6.50 boxed and new.
I bought one for a friend and it works the same as the original power supply.

Yeh at gamestation it's £49.99 for both with the psu and without! KINECT LINK
I think the cheapest way to get the halo console would be to buy a 250gb from cash generators or converters, i've seen them before on there website for £100 so could get the new halo console for £200 but stocks hit and miss and don't really know what sort of service any off the pawn places offer.

I bought a 32gb USB drive from Play.com. Made by Busbi. It's the only one that seems to hold my profile and not go corrupt after a day or two. You might be able to get an 8gb one cheap. The 32gb was £9.99. I think they're £10.99 now. I've tried other USB drives ie Sandisk, Verbatim, and the data seems to get corrupted (I use my profile between 2 xbox's).

I think it has a lot to do with exfat - The Xbox 360 format. It seems temperamental when compared to FAT32 or NTFS.

Cheers, not been on for a while and just checking old posts. No worries on the USB front I got plenty knocking around.

No worries. I am far from an expert on these things and would never claim to be one, but I did lose all of my game saves about 3 years ago by using a data transfer cable and lost them all in translation from one drive to another. Harsh!

When I moved my data again, I found it quicker to write down what DLC you have, and download it to the new console free because you have already paid for it. You can copy and paste your saves onto the USB stick, but can only move your profile, not copy it. This isn't too important because as long as you know your password you can retrieve it online from anyone's console. Good luck!

My original 360 from like 2006 finally died (RROD, of course) a couple weeks ago. It was a good run and I'll always have fond memories of it. But it's time for a replacement and this is a great deal. Just ordered this morning and had a shipping confirmation by the afternoon. Looking forward to the new 360 with its HDMI output and lack of jet-engine-level fans!

it is now OOS

anyone know if it is likely to come into stock anytime soon? Also, anyone that has got it, did you get a corona or trinity motherboard?

Recieved one of these today 10/09 and sent it straight back!Packed in a white box(not a problem) the console was scruffy with one chrome edge trim and one black, hefty flat screwdriver marks on the back seam, one conveniently partially covered by Game/Gamestation warranty label, and scratches scuffs on just about every panel. The controllers left analogue thumbstick was slack and didnt click when pressed.Overall rubbish. If it was offered face to face as pre-owned in the shop even at this price it would be turned down seems they keep these for mail order. Now to wait for a refund

I bought one last week, had an initial problem in as much as two were dispatched and of course charged for. Posted one back that was quite old being the shiny model and identical as nil102 mentioned was scruffy and also had one black and one chrome trim, the other was matte and in externally better condition. Only after I'd posted the shiny one did I find out that the WiFi didn't work at all.

Used the only real-time customer service method offered (the chat system), complained about my two issues and was offered an in-store exchange and a £15 gift card as compensation. Went into today for the replacement and was given a brand new 4GB Slim and was told by the staff there that virtually everyone that has been in and made a purchase online in the last 6 months was dissatisfied.

Maybe I've just been lucky but exercising your right to complain is still there even if you've purchased pre-owned items.

Voted hot just to follow up on old style halo xbox from game for 70 quid Ive had mine for 27 days and red rings
