Totally agree looks awesome!! An Xbox one this colour would sell easily

What a colour (_;)

OP - Also the Xbox you mention for £149 in Tesco, is 250gb. This one is 500gb!

Yes it's his first console he's only 8 and we've got a new baby can't afford an xbox one, even though it's the last generation second hand 360s are still around £100

I'm sure he'll love it, great colour too. congrats on the new addition

Actually, if you play it right, you could get 3 games - sign up on either the last day of the month, or on the 15th - download the free game - next day, download the next free game, in 15 days time, download the next free game, if you wait till February, you may even be able to sneak 4 games.

Alternatively, buy 13 months from cd keys for approx £20-25!

Granger Games sell second hand 250GB Slim Models for £82 (I bought one the other day as games are so cheap now), I picked up 8 360 Games for £18 the other day) however for a childs first console and Xmas Pressy new is always better IMO and the 360 will receive Support until 2017 and it has a massive games back catalogue.

I would recommend picking up some cheap games as stocking fillers to go with it, otherwise he will be done with it come Boxing Day.

Good price - but I'm not sure I can vote hot on a 360 given that the tech is now ten years old. I expect next gen consoles will have hit the £250 mark by early December and would suggest it's probably best to save up an extra £70 with that in mind.

Agreed.
I really hope the heat this is getting doesn't fool anyone into thinking this is actually a hot deal.
Warm.

Cold from me too. These will be £100soon

They will not be 100 anytime soon. This is a brand new 500gb console. It's an excellent deal. Get a cheap xbox live gold subscription and you probably won't need to buy many games for it. Don't forget the older games are all under 10 pounds and are great value. If he is 8 i recommend viva pinata, all 3 of them are great fun. The lego games are a bit pricey but the older ones, especially star wars are good.

If you need to buy good games on a budget, jsut buy them used from Amazon Marketplace / Play Trade. You can get quality older titles for £2 to £5.

Not all GWG are suitable for 8 year olds though, so watch out mum!

Not with 2 games and a £10 voucher they won't.

wish I had a blue one! lucky boy. box and description says suitable for 16+, that's probably one of the games? and unless he has classmates on xbox live, he may not benefit from it and I wouldn't recommend your youngster hears any of the bad language constantly used by both adults and kids on xbox live. meanwhile, my 8 year old loves lego marvel super heroes, perhaps your son will too. There are many more games suitable for him on the 360 than the XBOX One, smart move. nothing wrong with 'old tech', kids will appreciate 'new tech' more for using it first.

Only just seen the next page thanks for your info, defo have to be careful as he will be trying to play all the older games :s I can't see it come down to £100 either as not many places stock the blue one, he will be made up

These should now be £99.99 With a remote, and buy controller separate, to compete with the TV boxes from Amazon, Roku, Google, Apple etc...

don't worry about this not being the latest version OP, if you look at the sales data all the games your son will typically play (presuming you don't let him have COD) are selling better on the old systems

inc Disney infinity 2.0 with next gen systems in last place in terms of sales, it will be a long time yet before developers stop making games for these systems as they still have a huge user base for kids games

Very good post. I agree with when he plays online with others and he has his headset on, just be wary lots of users old and young use foul language over Xbox Live. The amount of kids playing higher age restricted games and using foul language is disturbing online.

Original Poster

I didn't want him to play online at all but with the free month xbox live it would be silly not too I'm not very good with xbox etc so I will have to have his dad supervise, atleast il get a few hours peace :))))

I don't see them being £100 soon. It's £80 to buy the 500gb hard drive on it's own!

Great deal as these consoles are still highly priced at the moment. The 4GB 360 gets posted a fair bit on here but you can't do anything with the memory on that, 500GB on this one and you are all set for good!
Personally I'm waiting for a bit more of a price drop on a more standard 360 as I have the pads, games, accessories etc as like a lot of 360s my current one has an extremely loud disc drive

Edit: Also to people suggesting getting an XBone instead, that would be a great idea if the console was backwards compatible. The 360 catalogue is huge and stupidly cheap now. Just playing the newest released (and expensive) games isn't for everyone.

Good price, but games could be better. Would have expected retail games, not Arcade ones.

PS3 woulda obv been better for a 8yo.

Its crazy the xbox 360 is so expensive still!

its well surpassed its exclusives lifecycle

£180 seems a bit expensive for a Xbox 360, even with a 500GB HDD and an awesome colour. It might have been better to wait another month for the Black Friday deals, There are always some crazy deals that come out around this time, and i'm sure Amazon would have this console with a couple of games for less than this.

That said I'm sure your 8 year old will love the present, it really does look awesome, shame MS never thought to release this colour when the console was at it's peak. Nothing wrong with getting a 360, (Though arguable the PS3 might have been the better choice as Sony are known to support the past gen consoles longer than MS is.) even with the XBO out. There are hundreds of games he can enjoy that you should be able to pick up very cheap and when he's ready for the newer consoles the XBO and PS4 will actually have worthwhile games to play, and they'll be around this price.

Seriously I own both PS4 and XBO, I have only played the PS4 once (though I've only had it a month,) and all I play on the XBO is Destiny right now, (though I do have Halo, and Sunset Overdrive to look forward to and I still need to get FH2.)

We asked him if he wanted a play station or an xbox and he chose xbox, I know I thought they were the actual games until I got it home and realised.
