Does the arcade have a harddrive like the pic???
If so its hot!

the pic's wrong, there is no HDD on the arcade...

where on earth are those 3 FREE games?????

PGR 4 is awful anyway - well worth £130 for this. Shame about the drive tho

PGR4 Awful?!? Are you kidding me? Its a fantastic game that showcases the 360!

I cant believe these offers now, I really dont understand why anyone would buy a PS3 over a 360...As for the Blu Ray player, well you might as well 'acquire' HD WMVs from the net, just as good

Does anyone know if the autumn update will allow x264/mkv files to be played natively at last?

Mmm, interesting. How could I find out how much trade in I could get for those three games?

well after playing wipeout HD , little big planet beta last nite , u could instantly forget the 360 ( also the beta codes for killzone 2 are out today ):p

The first Killzone game was completely awful, there is nothing to show the next game will be any better so far. Little big plant, been alot of talk about it hopefiully it will be a good game as the ps3 desperately needs some decent exclusive titles, there is nothing worth buying one for at the moment apart from MGS4 game wise.

There will be have been 20 exclusive AAA 360 titles released by the end of this year in contrast.

its getting beyond a joke with these deals, i'm gutted that I spent £150 on just a basic arcade 2 months ago to replace my rrod premium. I prey every day that'll it'll red ring so i can get a refund and take advantage of these incredible deals.

Exactly, buying a 360 means you have a hell of a lot of amazing games to play straight away instead of waiting for all these 'great' games to arrive, which is what PS3 owners always say, they never talk about the great games already available...

Plus, if you have a modded 360 and it does happen to get banned, its no big deal as you can sell it on ebay and simply buy another at these kind of prices. Im guessing there will be another wave of bans coming with the autumn dashboard update. This price cut is not only aimed at making the 360 the No.1 console for christmas, but in my opinion ensuring if people do get banned from XBox live, they go out and get another one! This is only my opinion though before anyone has a go at me!

Why did you bother paying to replace a RROD Premium, when its still under warranty with Microsoft..and they'd have fixed/replaced it for free?

Awesome deal - got vouchers for Gamestaion or I'd get this deal.

Because by the time you buy a decent sized hard drive, pay for 12 months xbox live membership, a wireless network adaptor, and a plug & charge kit or rechargeable batteries for the wireless controller, it costs much the same as a PS3.

Whether the 360's game library is actually any better than the Ps3's is open to debate. It's certainly a larger game library, but there's a lot of rubbish amongst the decent titles.

And suggesting that downloading illegal HD quality WMV's from the net will give you similar quality to blu ray is a tad silly.

I recently bought a 360 due to the price reductions, because I liked to look of Fable 2 & GOW2, but took it back again for various reasons. Cost of the accessories, excessive heat coming out of the vents and it makes a noise like a jet engine. ;-)

Good one pc5020, you have just started yet another retarded console war argument with your flame bait.

mgs4 , uncharted , cod4 , burnout paradise , gt5p , wipeout HD , buzz quiz , u get my point there is more than enough game OUT already for the ps3 as well as having a br drive ( planet earth ftw ) its easily more affordable at around £250

after 2 modded 360's stopped working ( not rrod ) i will not be spending another pennie on a piece of **** maybe for £80 with GOW2 . have had my ps3 since launch hasn't missed a beat , i think its 360 owners who haven't had both consoles that are the biggest wingers becasue they cant judge the 2 machines objectively

My work here is done

The xbox 360 has some great titles, no one can argue with that (halo, Fable, Gears, Mas Effect) but the ps3 has some good exclusives as well, some of which are hidden gems (e.g. ratchet and clank, uncharted) plus MGS4 is still one of the best games ever made.

Anyway, it's a great deal. Far better than the unpredictable marshall ward one. heat added

ok i was in need of a new one as i well broke mine dam but this is a great price and i have both ps3 and 360 still think more of the 360 and i use stand alone hd dvd more than my blue ray in the ps3
in time the ps3 may change my mind but by then there will be another xbox and ps4 or something

but strange thing is this is a xbox 360 deal so if you dont like the xbox 360 why even look in here ??
heat and rep thanks

All im trying to say is, considering the price difference, the library of games out there, the fact the console can be modded, the negligible XBox live fee which PS3 owners keep whinging about but it costs only £25 for 13 months (thats less than £2 a month!), its a media center (and yes I know the PS3 is one too!), I cant see the point of buying a PS3 unless youre adamant on owning a Blu Ray player.

And in response to HD WMVs not matching up to Blu Ray, I have many many 1080p HD WMVs and if you can see the difference between them and a Blu Ray film I applaud you for having fantastic eyesight or a TV that is far better than mine...

Sorry you had bad luck with your 360s, ive had three, not because any failed I hasten to add, Ive one in one room and another upstairs, and I sold another as it got banned.

I didnt mean to start a war on this, its just look at this for what it is, a fantastic console for a pittance with a massive back catalogue of games. Although, I still cant believe how much they charge for the wireless adapter, that I agree is scandalous

Well I added to my Core system by buying a hard drive later, along with other accessories. It didn't bother me, and in fact made the console more affordable for me. In fact, the way you could add parts as and when required was a major selling point for me. Just the same as a PS3 being fitted with a Blu-Ray drive I have no desire to use for movies dissuades me from buying a PS3.

My Core system is around 18 months old, so its based on the old technology and I can't deny it makes a bit of noise when running. But this is likely to change in the next few days when the dashboard update happens - the main culprit as far as the noise is concerned is the DVD drive and with the update, you'll be able to install and run games off the HDD.

Anyway, the noise emitted by the 360 might be a little louder than most people would prefer, but is nothing like as bad as some people suggest (a jet engine? go and stand next to a jet engine for an hour - then go home and turn on a 360...then try to claim it sounds like a jet engine).

So in conclusion, an Arcade model plus 3 games for less than £130 represents a good deal in my view.

What I can't abide is all this willy-waving about the PS3 being better than the 360. If you've got a PS3, and you think the system is so much better than everything else out there, I'm happy for you - enjoy.

One question though - why not play your extensive libraries of games and blu-rays and stop scouring the net for threads to hijack? Strikes me as being just a little bit pathetic.

Coming next on HUKD - the 'My Dad's bigger than your Dad' debate...:whistling:

Dunno if anyone noticed, but this might be a deal in it's own right?

While browsing through Toys R Us via this thread, came across a few bargins in the accessories section.

A tripple pack of Chrome, Carbon and Silver fascias for £4.99!

A starter pack with game stand, DVD remote and chrome fascia for £7.99!

I think those two alone are pretty good, just wish the vouchers I ordered from work were acceptable at Toys R Us

don't worry rather than faff about with microsoft I took it back to argos, they gave me a refund and let me keep the hard drive so only needed the arcade.:-D

These 360 bundles just get better and better. As soon as the Jasper model is readily available in stores I might go and replace my Falcon unit (although I'll wait to see if the system is cooler/quieter first).

I have to say that with the deals that are becoming available recently on top of the price drops, this 360 is fast becoming a console that you would be made to be without. I mean 130 quid with 3 games is a steal in anyones book. I bought one about 4 weeks ago and i paid 200 quid for my 60GB premium, and i thought i was getting a good deal then!

My falcon is a lot more quiet than the first 360 I had, but its still not as quiet as I would like (ie...silent!)

How long have you had your falcon for? Mine was whisper silent when idle when I first bought it (first time I turned it one I thought it was broken as I couldn't hear anything!) over time the fans have started to make a bit more of a noise.

anyone confirm thsi is instore too?

especially the second of the bundles with viva pinata

I just posted what it said in the newspaper..... Should be instore.... (only till sunday though)

That's one hell of a deal. Only really need to pick up a used HDD on the cheap to get the full benefit.

Wow, that's a smoking hot deal......

Why has this been expired?

Just nipped down to Toys'r'Us to pick up one of the premium deals, I have been looking for a few days, and this is definitely the best deal available for now.

Hot!

i think its becasue its Sorry, out of stock online but instore mite be ok ? you will have to go see if your local store has stock in or ring them

Popped down there earlier to get the three faceplates I mentioned earlier (one grey, one carbon and one chrome for less than a fiver!) and I can confirm they've got the 3 free games deal in store on the Arcade.

This should not be expired - it is available in store until the end of Sunday - as stated in their press advert on page 20 of Friday's Mirror (I bought a copy of the Mirror to try getting Gamestation/Game to match it - no joy, but it also came with free toilet paper - especially Kevin MagLiar's scribblings), so off I trotted to Toys-R-Us in Hayes and oh, the palaver......

Here's my story:

- phoned in advance to make sure they were doing the offer and had it in stock - answer yes, and we'll keep one aside for you;

- got down there, went to back of store to pick up bar code voucher, then went to Customer Service to check that they had it ready for me. The asst. manager type chap went to check - came back a good age later to say yes, but oh, I'd need to go back to the back of the store to get the game cases to be scanned too;

- trotted back to back of store once again, collected three empty boxes as requested, went to join queue to pay;

- ten tills in store, one cashier serving, queue of six annoyed people in front, led by a man paying very slowly for a large trolley full of small toys.

- eventually it's my turn. The cashier scans my stuff, and then points out the Star Wars box I'd brought to the front was for a PS3, so, whilst the queue behind me waits, I go to the back of the store for the third time - and confirm that the PS3 Star Wars game is indeed amongst the Xbox display, hence my mistake;

- cashier scans it all in - total comes up as £329.xx - except it should have been £229.xx (bought an extra controller etc.).

- Cashier checks with her manager - tells me I shouldn't have brought the game boxes from the back of the store, just the barcode voucher for the whole bundle - I tell her that that is what the manager type had asked me to do...!

- She cancels the transaction and does it again, I pay. She gives me a chit to pick up the goods from their pick-up point;

- I go to the pick up point with my voucher - the guy there pretends not to notice me before disappearing inside their back office. Another customer appears 6ft away from me. Someone finally opens a second checkout...

- Lots of staff go past me to disappear into the back area. Eventually, a guy appears and goes straight over to the other waiting customer (without bothering to ask which of us was there first) - I point out that I was waiting first, so he takes my chit and the other guys chit and disappears into their secure cabin area where he stands around for an age not appearing to do much;

- eventually another manager type appears and looks at my chit - then he starts to quibble about the games not being the right ones for the offer! I said yes they are - he gets their copy of their press advertising and points to the £129.99 Arcade deal (I'd chosen to get the 60GB £169.99 deal with the same offer) - so I point out the smaller piece on the advert that says "upgrade to the 60GB xbox with the same offer", so he finally accepts what the offer actually includes (this is after I've paid for it all of course!).

- he reappears with the console box and games, but forgets to bring out the extra controller etc. that I'd also bought.

- I take a look at the box to make sure it's one of the newer ones with the HDMI socket, then I notice that it's not the 60GB model he's given me but the 20GB model! I point this out to him, and double-check that the offer is indeed for the 60GB model...

- he disappears into the secure area once more and then comes out with the correct item...

It at took so long and was so much standing around and I almost got fobbed off with the inferior 20GB model! Appalling management, and no way to run a business - any and all of the various delays could have been so easily avoided. I left a note asking the General Manager of the store to call me - I'm not holding my breath. The manager type that tried to give me the 20GB version said "well, he's very busy and probably won't have time to call you" - to which I replied "well, he might be a busy many, but if he doesn't call me I'll be calling the Regional Manager to take it up with him".

Not good, not impressive (I was polite and reasonable throughout, in case anyone wonders). Goodness knows what this disaster area of a Toys-R-Us store would be like if it was busy...

So, don't expect to complete the deal quickly, and triple-check that they give you the correct machine!

Agreed, I went to Toys R us to check it out, it was most definitely still there. Not only is the deal still on, it was with PGR4, rather than the other game that was suggested.

Derby Pride Park had four of the barcode thingies, so I guess that means they have stock?

Editor

I have now unexpired this deal - as it is available instore. I've added this info to the title

Today I went to Toys R Us (made a post, then the OP told me it was already posted, so expired). I too rang and asked if they had any in stock (Solihull) - yes he said but I can't keep one aside for you, theres about 10 of each left. When I arrived there were 4 different bundle tickets - 1 x 20GB, 2 x 60GB and one Elite. I picked up the voucher for the one I wanted - it was printed with what the package came with. I took it to the counter, paid (no problems) and went to the customer zone to collect - it took a couple of minutes for them to find the games but it was all exactly right.

I used my Toys R Us platinum card and got an extra £5 off. So I paid £164.99 for the Xbox 360 60GB with Project Gotham, Viva Pinata and Star Wars Unleashed. Excellent price (to me). Another thing sorted for christmas.:thumbsup:

Toys R Us Luton sold out and PC World wouldn't price match grr

didnt have the arcade version at my local branch (offer was still on though) I could have got the hard drive version though.... (Better offer than that alleged 2 days sale at next - very dissappointed...)
