Had a black battery since the day they came out for the Elite and I play about 5-6 hours most days, still holds charge for a good 4 days (15-20ish hours)

Buy some rechargeable batteries instead, the battery packs are terrible in comparison imo

You can get these in Game sometimes for £3.99 second hand. I got mine recently.

The packs charge faster though, and you can charge them while you carry on playing with the play and charge kit

(afaik, you can't just use this kit to charge regular rechargable batteries? Correct me if I'm wrong)

I have quite a few of these battery packs, and both the quick charge and the play n charge kits.

And I have to say that although they're pretty good at what they do bar the play n charge (which takes a huge amount of time to charge and makes a wireless controller wired for many hours whilst it recharges which detracts greatly from the experience), overall they are a complete rip off. As stated, the play-n-charge wire is rubbish, so you really need the quick charge kit, which is around £18-25 and comes with one battery pack. You then need another battery pack if you have another controller, so lets say you buy the plan n charge kit for £10. Thats already £28-35 spent, and it's only two controllers that you've covered. Any more than that, or if you want a spare backup battery pack thats already charged and waiting should one of the current ones run out, then thats another £10. Hence, the cost keeps mounting, and all you ever get to use these for is the Xbox. And if anything happens to the batteries that are cased within these battery packs, e.g. if one somehow leaks or loses functionality, then you throw the entire pack away.

Whereas if you get for example the £20-25 Energiser quick charge battery pack, that includes 4 AA batteries that can charge all four within an hour, and can also recharge AAA batteries, that's enough for two controllers straight off, and if you want to add more batteries, its only £3-4 extra for another pack of four good quality Energiser rechargeable batteries - thats another two wireless Xbox controllers covered. Hence, it works out much, much cheaper if you have two or more pads to get a genuine battery recharge kit rather than buying the official Xbox products. On top of this, you can then buy further batteries for replacements or household items like clocks, remotes, etc, and you'll still save money compared to buying the official stuff and only ever being able to use them on the Xbox.
