get an exchange then?

These must be really old manufactures date on them?

Can't go wrong for £60 and the 12 month guarantee does give some peace of mind but they are badly prone to getting RROD. I think alot of these will have been fixed and traded straight in to unsuspecting staff.

instead of getting a 16gb memory stick why not just buy a harddrive?you can get 20gb ones for £15 120gb ones for abt £30 and 250gb ones for £35-£40

There's the starter pack that Argos are selling for £30. You get 60GB HD, headset and 3 months gold.

Core consoles are most likely to have been manufactured between 5 and 3 years ago. I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole personally. You will almost certainly be taking back to game within a year. I know it's only £60, but it's false economy.

I thought that but saying that if its lasted that long then it must be good, unless they have been repaired

So what happens after say 11 months and it gets a RROD, do they give you a new, pre-owned console or do they fix the broken one you returned. Also do you get an additional 12 months warranty or do you get nothing?

I got an Arcade for £69 from Blockbusters (the HDMI ones) and they sold pre owned Cores (non HDMI) for £59.99 as well.
However my concern about lifespan was brought to life in less than 14 days. I got RLOD and the E74 error and I had to take it back. All turned out okay as Blockbuster staff checked the warranty seal and my receipt and got another xbox 360 from the back. They were out of Arcades and I refused the Core as it was a lesser product so I ended up with a Premium.
Imagine how happy I was to find the replacement was a 12v Jasper Xbox 360.
Not sure if Game would do the same but I think most stores will have a LOT of pre-owned Xbox consoles so If you have any issues with your purchase, you should be okay.

i modded it with ixtreme firmware.

I've only had one RROD since launch night and I swear it was a forced game update that caused it (Sega Superstars Tennis). I don't know how intense (or even related) the procedure is, but constantly flashing hardware is bound to lead to problems.

Good price.

agreed had 7 xbox's in the last year...1 stolen and 6 failed.....

amongst the latest failures - a 20gb rrod one repaired by microsoft lasted 1 week, repaired again and it last 1 day, went mental at them and got a new one....but immediately sold it on ebay and bought an elite jasper which lasted 2minutes, current has touch wood lasted 3 months so far

Seen a HDMI Arcade one in Cash Convertors for £60 with the basic kit (power, controller, etc).

I got my pre-owned Pro from GAME for £65.99 3 months ago, came with a 20GB HD, all cables and a wireless controller. First one RRODed after a few days but the replacement has been working fine, pretty happy with the xbox and the service.

Not really, as its guaranteed to work for 1 year, which works out at about £5 a month. After the year you can just flog it on eBay for spares and repairs if it fails, will still fetch £20 - £30 in broken condition. How is that a 'false economy'?

You looking to sell your banned console??

Great price!

er, the game update patches don't "flash" anything - they're purely code fixes for that specific game, they don't touch the console software, firmware or bios at all.

Because you can use the USB memory stick for more than just 360 saves? You'll have more space with the 16GB stick too, as the 20GB HDD only has about 12 or 13GB free when you get it.

I'm thinking about picking one up, but i've got a question one of you may be able to answer- I have a 20gb drive from my last xbox with Rez HD on it. How can I sort the drive so that I can play it on a new xbox? Do I need to download it again, or will I need to pay for it again? Thanks.

you can go to xbox.com and transfer the licences to your new console, then you can download it again

I know from personal experience how often these older consoles break. In 2006 I bought a 20 gb premium and all it did was develop fault after fault. Luckily my 120gb jasper elite hasn't broken once.

Okay, so a game forces an update and these code fixes are implemented. Could there not be conflicts that cause errors?

about as hot as vindaloo cus ur guaranteed red ring ....

i got one of these no problems so far

i very much doubt it, at the most a game patch could make the console crash, but it's highly unlikely to cause a RROD which is 99.9% of the time a purely hardware issue.

game patches on the xbox are no different to game patches on a pc.

as long as you're signed in to live, you could play it without re-downloading it or transferring the license - but it's best to do the transfer just to be on the safe side really.
