Saw it in ASDA last night whilst i was buying my new 360s. They have the XBOX 360 Elite with either Split/Second, Prince of Persia or Splinter Cell: Conviction for £145. You can also buy the console without a game for £135. Bargain!

It's the old Elite.

this is a cracking price, old design or not this is a great buy, this isn't much more than the arcade RRP

It just cracks me up..! So many good deals at Asda, and there is not an Asda for miles near me, may have to move?

Or you can get a preowned one from Game/Gamestation for £99.

If you are going to pay £135 for a new 360 you might as well go the whole hog and get the new "S".

Its the 'older' Elite. I went back and forwards with myself trying to decide if it was worth the extra £50 for the newer console but went for it in the end

I got the new 360S for £195 with Splinter Cell:Conviction. It should have been £199 but there is a system glitch. This may lead to people getting the elite and a game for £140!

They had at least 3 Elite consoles at this prince in ASDA Leith (Edinburgh)

I dont know about you but i certainly wouldnt want a second hand games console - especially a 360. what happens if the previous owner flashed the firmware, reflashed it back and traded it in? possibly not banned now but may well be in the future

Then you simply take it back and explain the situation. I think you have 14 days to take it back.

Go instore, if anyone hasn't got a Game or a Gamestation near them they must live on the Moon, or worse....the West Country. lol

I have 1 Gamestation and 2 Game stores literally a stones throw from each other. And all sell preowned Elites at £99.

Preowned Elite consoles are is stock at GAME online for £99

XBox 360 Elite Preowned

good price for a new console but if you want kinnect then this wont be compatable.

I can understand people wanting to pay an extra £35 to have a brand new machine as it comes with full 3 year RROD warranty and a brand new pad. Personally though if spending that much I would find the bit extra to grab a new model with WiFi, larger HDD, etc.

Not true.
ALL 360s will work with Kinect.
The new 360 S powers Kinect directly.
If you have an old console Kinect will be powered via a normal power cable plugged in the wall.

This is not true. Kinect works with the older xbox consoles, it just needs a power supply to boot

Microsoft ban in waves, they dont ban one at a time. I can imagine the ban would come a couple of months down the line and not within the first 14 days.

makes sense to spend £30/40 more for S

that is all well and good, and if you ended up with a jasper, its not a bad price BUT, there is a very good chance you could end up with a falcon based chipset (not as good) or god forbid a Zephyr which is a ticking time bomb build quality wise.

if you can get to a store you could open up and check which model it is, and only buy if its a jasper i guess, but personally i would just get new then you know its a jasper & not been monkeyed with.

Good points. I would not trust a pre-owned 360 myself, but I was just responding to the comment above ( #8 ) saying that the preowned Elites were out of stock at GAME online.

Agreed. i paid £195 last night and i thought that was a good deal (including Splinter Cell: Conviction)

better snap these up while they're still about

still cant make me mind up...!

I got the elite and split second velocity for £130 from ASDA last week.

It was meant to be £145 but when they added velocity it came up as a multi buy deal and discounted the price

Iv always thought about getting a Xbox 360 Elite, but i just can't seem to force myself to get one. I have a PS3 ans a Wii. Also the games that come out on the PS3, come out on the 360 anyway, apart from the exclusives (which the PS3 seems to have the upper hand on so far).

Really? I bought it last night for £195

i had to ask at the entertainment desk if they even stocked the new one as they had no display for it, scanned on it's own at £189.99 but then i asked about ' this game deal i saw online' and they didn't know of it so i asked them to scan splinter cell with it and it came down to £184.03.

lol lucky guy. My deal was supposed to scan @ 199 but went through as £194. It seemed to take £19 off for the game. Maybe they set it up on the system and changed the price of the games?

If you have this console as well then you get to pick up the bargain offers for both consoles. Sometimes Xbox 360 will have cheaper price game than PS3 on offer e.g. GTAIV Episodes From LC and vice-versa.
