Code is: VTWMDLHGPQ, single use so just use an alternative email address and quickly set up another account if you have used it already to get ya lovely 5 squids off.

On the Play offer, you'll earn a measly £2.19 - but what the hey!

I have been trying to decide if I should get rid of my old premium (20gb no HDMI) and buy an elite or the new 60gb.

Think this has just swayed me. More money spend.:whistling:

This is not a bad deal, but for £20 more you can get this one:

hotukdeals.com/ite…277

Which has 3 games.

Okay, the games aren't exactly top-of-the-line, but I am thinking of upgrading my 2nd hand (eBay bought) premium 20gb console, and I don't have any of those games, so it's a lot better.

Incidentally, does anyone know how I would go about getting my account details (and Gold membership) onto a new Xbox if I bought one?

I would get a V Card for this offer - gives 5% = £11 off minus £2 cost = £9 off

At play.com

Thanks OP

the voucher is useless as most people will have already used it once.

Pity there is not another £5 off for play

will be buying one of these bad boys soon my 20gb premium seems to be dying as much as i hate to admit it but could well do with the extra hd space especially with this new dashboard update where u can install ur games

Does the Elite now have the new chipsets, and is it as noisy as the Premium?

Not sure what to go for really, the Elite or the Premium. Not overly worried about the disk space, really would prefer a quieter XBOX which has the latest chipset. But obviously if the Elite is exactly the same build as the Premium (except for larger hard drive) then I'd probably opt for that.

- I was reading last night that there have been no sightings of the Jasper motherboard (the one with the 65nm CPU and 65nm GPU) yet
but it is expected to appear after stocks of the older Zephyr boarded models (the ones with the 65nm cpu and a 90nm GPU) have been sold out.

That's why I'm waiting a couple of weeks
(and by then we can expect to have reasonably sound info on what to look for and how to spot the difference).

The Zephyr model is undoubtedly an improvement but it's pretty obvious that Jasper is the one to go for if you can wait.
Zephyr already can be easily identified & spotted by it's use of a 175w PSU (down from 205w IIRC)
and it's expected that Jasper will be even less juice hungry and more energy efficient with a PSU around 150 - 160w.

As far as I can make out the XBox 360's noise problem (since the Zephyr update) has largely been about it having to constantly read from the DVD.
The new dashboard update coming soon will fix this as you will be able to load the whole game to the HDD and it will be read from there not a noisy spinning disc.

@ Gixxerman001 Zephyr was the old noisy model

- Ha, you're completely right.

I'm mixing up my models, sorry about that .

For anyone interested - gaming.hexus.net/con…e=2

Xenon was the 1st version was the 90nm CPU & 90nm GPU non-HDMI model.

Zephyr was the 2nd 90nm CPU & 90nm GPU model with HDMI.

Jasper will have a 65nm CPU & a 65nm GPU and also the HDMI port of course.

There is also an interim motherboarded model that has come out on their replacement/repair, 'opus' (65nm CPU & 90nm GPU but no HDMI port)

chelskii;3012578

the latest is the Falcon

- Yeah, the 65nm CPU & 90nm GPU version.

chelskii;3012578

and the Japser is not yet even confirmed by MS.

- But it is very heavily rumoured to be pending
(and the lower costs of the smaller dies etc used is how come they can cut the price further now).

chelskii;3012578

Valhalla is also another "Rumored" unconfirmed chipset which combines … Valhalla is also another "Rumored" unconfirmed chipset which combines the CPU and GPU onto one 65nm chip

- True.

...... but Valhalla is not expected by anyone to appear until some time in 2009 - probably late 2009
(and may well see a 'slim' model appear containing it as it should be even more power efficient & much smaller all round).

chelskii;3012578

You could wait forever if you just rely on the rumors.

- Well that's true of course. The best time to buy any CE is always in about 6mths time! :whistling:

But I think a couple of weeks isn't too much to wait to see if the rumour mill has it right this time (they usually do even if the timing isn't entirely 100%).
