is this going to be a sellout

Does this model come with free ]"red circle of death"?

I was going to get a 360 a few weeks back until I heard the odds of getting a working one was pretty low. And then my old Xbox (made in 2002) had it's own version of the red circle of death with the DVD drive dying. And I barely use the drive, instead I softmodded it to run Xbox Media Centre and stream over the network. I can't boot the damn thing at all now because it checks the hardware on boot, which locks it up and gives me an error message.

Sorry MS. I refuse to buy faulty hardware. Get it right more often than you get it wrong and I might be interested.

Probably not.

@Rustybucket

Yep. Just as noisy, just as unreliable.

There is a 3yr warranty with it now though...

The quidco isn't actually on the full amount as well:

Still, the best price for a Elite at this time.

Great - so you can keep sending it for repair for longer :whistling:

Thanks for the helpful constructive comments........NOT

Only for red ringers.

Due to a redesigned motherboard that desipates heat better, it is less likely to suffer from those crashes. Good price.

WOW ! This is great! Just ordered 10

10? and i dont think this will be a sell out seeing as most people who bought a normall 360 dont see any point of paying extra for more hard drive and hdmi.
only 30 pounds cheaper than a ps3.

so this inc a 3yr guarantee?

If it had a nice quiet built in HD drive, Id be tempted.

talking of the waranty, do you have to register or reregister for the extended waranty?

Has the Xbox Elite got the HD DVD palyer built in as standard??

no it doesnt unfortunately

actually you are wrong im afraid, it only comes with a 1yr warranty and 3yrs for red ring of death faults, all other faults after 1yr you have to pay for repair, google the info if you dont believe us.

This is true 3-year only covers the ring of death not DVD drive faults as many are finding out - and getting annoyed at.

Seems like a good price! Yet I still dont know if PS3 would not be a better buy Anybody has got convincing things to say about any of them??

Yeah, go to some websites like Gamspot, IGN, 1up etc and decide which you like best.

IMO X360 Elite is a waste of money.

I wouldn't say so, considering Microsoft is launching their HD movie marketplace in Europe.

i thought elite would at least have a built in hd dvd drive. so imo elite is a waste of money.

Add another £100 and your at PS3 prices at RRP.

Add another £60 and you're at PS3 prices,

Actually this would actually be more than I paid for my PS3 and I got my PS3 at launch.

I have both, and would choose the 360 everytime over the PS3. 360 rocks, just buy from gamestation and any faulty units are just swapped immediately instore with zero hassle. PS3 is shocking to be honest, I wouldn't recommend one to anyone unless you really want a Blu-Ray player (which is the ONLY thing mine gets used for).

ps: I only have a PS3 as I won it at work, no way on gods green would I spend hard earned on one. Its just not as good as the 360, simple as that.

Well that's a matter of opinion really, the truth is that the PS3 is better built, has better media functions and is more powerful.

£60 and you'd get 2 games as well. I couldn't justify spending over 300 quid on a 360 with no games, online charges, and no wifi. Looks nice though.

The RRP of this is only £329, it doesnt seem that good a deal. Sure the quidco is nice but thats not always reliable. It might be best to wait and see what other packages become available closer to the time.

It really depends on you to be perfectly honest! The best thing to do is check out the list of current games and upcoming games for both the 360 and PS3, there are some games that are exclusives to a specific console and so that maymake a difference to you! (although there are less and less console exclusives now to be honest). Also try out the controllers if you can, which feels more comfortable to you?

What kind of TV do you have? Assuming it is HDTV, what size is the screen? are you interested in watching High Definition movies, i.e. will you be buying Blu-ray movies? Remeber that both the Xbox 360 and PS3 will upscale normal DVD's to 1080p over the HDMI cables (PS3 and 360 elite), or something like 720p over the component cable (PS3 and normal 360)

If your screen is under 40" the you apparently cant tell the difference between 720p and 1080p

Its up to you really IMO you cant lose with either, they are both good consoles in their own right.

Drift

£60 and you'd get 2 games as well.

And a blu-ray player.

ive had a 360 for a year now , and bought a ps3 6 weeks ago - and with all consideration on both machines have concluded that the 360 is a better machine, personally speaking that is.
