Great Deal

I'm haven't been looking out for these as of yet, as HD dvd's are too expensive at the moment but this seems to comfortably be the cheapest price, which i think the next lowest price was about £125.

Bare in mind that you can buy a big brandname HD dvd player for around £80, which was my bros gf's xmas present a few months back for the price stated but voted hot because it's the lowest price for this particular product.

Remember there's vouchers always flying around as and Quidco cashback too, so this deal can even improve even further

Emm i think your getting a little confused.

Other than the 360 hddvd player the cheapest stand alone HDDVD player is about £335.90...... ]http//ww…481

NOT an £80 HD upscaler dvd player such as this sony High Definition Equivalent DVD Player ............. ]http//ww…609

The main reason the 360 player is so cheap is because its really just a drive, and the xbox 360 does all the processing of the hd video etc, a standalone player doesnt have this luxury which is why they currently still cost around the £300 mark!

Yeah, i think youre confusing upscaling DVD players with HDDVD players  It can have a HDMI port, but that doesnt make it able to read HDDVDs

I KNOW!!!! LOL

But it's SUCH a common misconception!

People also assume that because they buy and HD "ready" tv, that when they plug it in it will be in HD, they dont grasp the fact that the tv is "HD Ready" for you to input an HD source of their choice, eg. xbox 360, ps3, blueray player, hddvd player, sky hd, virgin media + hd box.

I think a lot of people still need to be educated on what exaclty HD is and does.

Great price.

Excellent, been umming and ahhing and think now I will deffo get myself one. Going to use my Egg card for 5% instant cashback, only decision now is whether to risk going through QuidCo or not?!!!

Cheers, rep left, voted hot.

the site seems to be having problems due to "high volumes of traffic"

Also if you do your research this badboy has drivers for WINxp/Mac. All you have to do is get hold of a suitable (software) player.

Maybe that was the case then, as i remember it was an £80 Samsung player and i remember it was posted on the forums..... sorry that i got my wires crossed.

do u need a hd tv for this?

No, but there is no of point of having one, if you haven't got a HD TV, as the HD-DVD player for the 360 only is for HD movies at the moment.

I want to get one for my PC, but the damm website is down.

HELP anyone? I bought my boys an xbox 360 (core system) and the extra 20gb HD thingy. Can it play their old xbox games on it or not?

Only a handfull of Xbox 1 games work on the 360.
List here
xbox.com/en-…htm

Follow this guide to get the emulation software onto your 360.

I haven't got a 360, so I don't know much about this.
I only know a little about this, because I work in a game shop and some people ask about this, quite alot.

Thank you!

Back on Dixons now

Thanks OP !!

£101.38 delivered after quidco!!!:)

already got one, they are great for the price. dont forget, order your hd dvd films from america, they are substantially cheaper and come out 4 or 6 months before they do in the uk.

again, remember to only order 1 at a time as anything over £18 coould make you liable for V.A.T

i order from dvdpacific.com, chose option 2 for delivery and only order 1 item per order, it costs more for post and package but you dont get hit for V.A.T

Many thanks,

I've ordered one now. Was going to give HD-DVD a miss and perhaps get a PS3 for Blu Ray (and Bond). But for this price I'm not too fussed if it all goes belly up - at least I'll still be able to use the included remote with the 360.

Please confirm which postage option you use - is it "ground courier" or "USPS Media Mail" - I think I'll order The Departed from here.

Great price, well found - voted hot

Also, Samsung dont make HD-DVD players (yet), at the moment they are sided with Blu-Ray only.

Damn, my boss kept standing behind me and by the time I managed to process it, the price had gone up by £30.

Strange one that, tried going through Quidco and searched the item, the price went up mid process. I then tried the link here and got it for the price listed here, and I've now ordered one. Searching the item afterwards still shows it at £30 more, so if you want one, buy it through the link in here.

Just went through the link and coming up as £129.99

129.99 now shame just went ot
no doubt it'll come down again
