Consoles made from December 2006 onwards are likely to have the new quieter BenQ dvd drive in them.

DVD Drive - Samsung

I didn't know about the GU cashback when I ordered it, but after I had put my order through I noticed the cashback in 'My Account'. It offered something around £21 I think in credit, or a cheque for £14.72 through the post.

Thanks Jonsend

Looking for a BenQ drive

(already got a Samsung one its our 2nd console - 1st had red lights - 2nd is now on its way back to Microsoft with disk read errors and crashing :-( )

Thanks. You're a star

Hello,

Sorry if this is a silly question - I'm new here! I really love the site - I subscribe using the RSS feed. Thanks to all you guys for your hard work.

Anyway, I'd like to go for this deal, but I'm a bit nervous about messing it up and having to pay the full price.

I never saw any mention of cashback on the GU site, and I've gotten as far as the "Checkout" stage of ordering. Just before confirmation. I've never used the site before, so I haven't registered or anything. Will I still be able to get the cashback?

I've signed up for Quidco, and went to the GU site through them, so that part should work.

BTW, I'm going for the Xbox + Gears of War bundle. Full price £359, - first order %20 = £287.20, - Quidco %8 = £264.23.

Thanks for your help,
Pete

It probably best to clear out your browser cookies and cache before clicking on the quidco link to ensure that it tracks correctly.

They have a 14 day returns policy anyway so as long as you don't open it when you get it you can get your money back.

I notice that this is part of the Littlewoods Group. Would this still count as a first purchase, although I haven't used Great Universal before I have used other Littlewoods companies?

Am I being silly..............where do you get the 20% off? I am a new customer and have taken it as far as confirmation but have seen nothing about 20%off.

It says next to a link you can click to "check out" when you are on the product page. However, I suspect it's automatic and you'll get the 20% off anyway.

See ]http//ww…spx for details on the 20% off

Well I've ordered having signed up and gone through Quidco. No 20% discount shown on the order confirmation but read the T&C. Still not filled with confidence. I'm also sceptical about Quidco and getting the money back that way.

I ordered on my MINT card as I always do online. Will that effect this?

This deal is all a bit hopeful for my liking.

There was a post a bit back about someone who e-mailed them to confirm the 20% and had it refunded to them. I've done the same, not had a reply yet though.

cheers. I'll do the same. It should be there from the start though. I've used littlewoods before so I wonder if that effects it though it shouldn't.

I've used Littlewoods as well, but it says that you get 20% for your first Great Universal order, so it should be fine.

I'm going to phone them up at lunch and get this confirmed. When will your order show in quidco if it's been tracked?

All very hopefull. I guess it's a case of wait and see. First time using Quidco but I'm finding the help pages poor.

thanks again for the reply.

edit: what does quidco track on? Your email address?

No worries chief.

Is anyone having problems getting into their "My Account" section for new customers? I've put in my new Customer Reference number and my postcode, but it says it's invalid details.

email says 48 hours till your account details are set up. All in this does not fill me with confidence :-D

Does this offer work with the finance options (40 weeks 0% APR)? I'm guessing not for tracking reasons, and the 20% T&C is a bit vague on the matter. Still a Great Deal!

I just sent the following e-mail to Great Universal:

Tracking Number: xxxxxxxxxx_xxxxxxxxxx
Order Number: x-xxxxxxxxxxx
Customer Reference Number: xxxxxxxx

I ordered two XBox 360s from yourselves this morning, this came to a total of £618.
As I am a first-time user, I am entitled to the 20% off discount. This would take my order to £494.40 (with £123.60 off).

I assume this £123.60 will be credited back on to my Mastercard promptly as this was the payment method used and the £618 has been taken out already?

I also understand that I am able to claim 10% cashback on this as a cheque, or 12.5% cashback on this as goods. I would intend to take a cheque - can you confirm if this would be applied to £610 (the nearest multiple of £10 under £618) or £490 (the nearest multiple of £10 under £494.40)? And therefore confirm whether this would be for £61 or £49?

Also, your emails suggest that when I sign in with my Customer Reference Number and Postcode, after this I will be sent a password within 48 hours after I register to enable me to access my account. However when I enter my Customer Reference Number and Postcode, it says that these are incorrect details, and "please enter a valid reference number and postcode to register". As it will not let me register, presumably I cannot then get this password sent to me to confirm my account and cashback status.

I will be grateful for your prompt reply. I would also be grateful if you could copy in any reply to "][email protected] as this is my work email address, which I am unable to access over the weekend.

Kind Regards,

I'll let you all know when I receive a response. In a nutshell, I should be receiving two XBox 360 full systems for £494.40, plus with £41 cashback, plus with 8% at Quidco which should be on the £494.40 amount, £39.55 - so when all this is sorted out, that's two XBox 360 full systems for £413.85, or £206.92 each. Fingers crossed!

How does this cashback in the form of a cheque work? Sorry about being dumb today but I'm nursing a killer hangover.

PS Be interested to hear the reply to your email.

As I understand it, the cashback will be applied to every £10 that a person spends, so in this instance I should be entitled to claim back 10% of £490 (I don't imagine that I will be able to claim this back on £610 as they should be giving me 20% back). So this should work out at £49, which (after I get my account set up) I should be able to request a cheque be sent out to me to cover this.

PS They do say allow 48 hours for a reply, so hopefully if they do over the weekend they'll forward it to my home address as if they reply to my work address I won't get it until Monday.

Cheers Gaz. Makes sense.

No worries. Haven't heard back from them yet but fingers crossed!

You dont get cashback on the 1st £150 spend with GU.
