Not sure if the voucher is still working but potentially there's a further £5 off. Pretty sure Quidco does not apply to console sales from Play.

What is the difference between the Pro and Premium?

pro descritpion made no mention of hdmi port on pc world website?

Premium is the only budget model to have HDMI at present. From what I can tell.

Mine certainly does.

The Premium is a fantastic deal.

Prices will start dropping to make way for new stock of the 60gb version of the console coming in August.

The description for the same SKU ref on Dixons website confirms it's HDMI so there's no difference afaik

there is no difference NOW and no arcade version in fact all versions made after august 07 have hdmi! there is so much confussuion around this due to some companies had old stock a while ago. (wilko's)

It's just the naming conventions that have been confused. Original Xbox 360 SKUs were called Core & Premium. Later Core became Arcade, Premium became Pro and a new one called Elite was introduced. Most of the retailers I've seen don't use the term Pro and mostly call them Premium. More recently (xbox.com & Microsoft.. and some retailers) don't even have have the term Pro or Premium attached - it's just called "Xbox 360" and comes with 20gb hdd, HDMI as standard.

just a note: this model will soon plummet in price as Microsoft are phasing out the 20Gb hard drives and replacing them with 60Gb ones, so expect the prices of 20gb packs to fall considerably in the next couple of months.

They're doing this in preparation of the 'Fall Update' to the 360 Dsahboard software, which will allow you to copy iso images of your games to the hard drive, to reduce noise and dvd drive wear, which seems to have become a bit of a problem. Of course, you'll still need the game in the drive so it can verify you own it and haven't just copied a mate's game to your HDD!

Still a good price for now though, and i think in the next month or so i'm gonna have to buy me a 2nd box as the DVD drive on my current 2 year old premium seems to finally be giving up the ghost.

The Arcade also has HDMI, I believe - the ultimate budget model.

Good price and as Plays previous deal was stating they had no HDMI these must be NEW stock.

8 player party's look very good though the above link doesn't really show just what it can do.

i didn't think the 60gb model was getting released in europe? this price drop is just supposed to bring us in line with the US. correct me if i am wrong though

Before anyone gets angry about the forthcoming autumn dashboard update, the old one will still be available...

Also dont forget if you intend to open your console (for any reason), then take note: The new version is TAMPER proof!!

I wouldn't buy this, the 20 gig version will probably be the new arcade so you wont be able to buy a 360 without a hard drive by years end.

To be honest if you have waited this long before buying a 360 you might as well wait until the 60gig is out. These prices are their for a reason, something better is coming.

There's really only one reason why someone would want to open their X360 up but the discussion of is most likely going to result in flames

nothing concrete, but I'd expect the official announcement at the Leipzig GDC next month, since they'll be in europe at that point.

I can't see any reason why they wouldn't release the 60Gb model here.

ah cool, i will definitely keep an eye out for that. as for not releasing a certain model here, i wouldn't put it past them. after all sony thought it was all right, although i suppose that is sony

Anyone looking to buy a 360 for playing backups should note that all new 360s now come with the unflashable Lite-On dvd drive. The flashable BenQ drives are no longer in production and have suddenly become very rare. This new drive is totally unhackable and cannot be flashed with custom firmware (not now not never, unless the 360 gets miraculously fully hacked).

As for the 60GB version Microsoft haven't said anything about it in Europe yet but you can be sure we'll get it eventually. They are probably just using up their old 20GB hard drive stock on us first :p. It was the same situation when the HDMI consoles first came out if I remember correctly.

This is a Xbox 360 post so keep it on topic.

Could be possible that as the 60gb pro is now the same price as the 20gb pro MS may give us the option at least for now for Europe to buy the 60gb drive at the price of the 20gb price..This would keep it in line with the announcement that you can install full games onto your hard drive from the next update..

i hate what MS are doing with the HD thing. why they think it is fine to charge us a £60 premium for their ****** plastic HD enclosure over the standard cost of the hard drive, i have no idea.

It is a no brainer that the 60 will be released in europe as drive manufacture has moved on and it will now be becoming difficult for M$ to source small drive sizes (something that happened with the original xbox). The price drop in the states is NOT to bring it in line with Europe, it is purely an offer price at the moment to move discontinued (20gb) stock. The new standard pro model there is the same price as the 20 was before the discount. They are not ready to announce Europe yet as they don't want to affect sales as they will supply the US first..

Do you have any links to show this has been confirmed?. Microsoft recently said there were no plans for the 60GB SKU in Europe for the time being. I don't doubt its coming but when is another matter.

No he does not he is a fanboy trying to disrupt the deal as it's gone hot, look at his previous posts in his "see more posts by JDRM" (3rd page) and guess which machine he owns...:)

---------------------------------------------------------
Tony Harrison I was referring to this bit -
after all sony thought it was all right, although i suppose that is sony

The 60gb is not confirmed for Europe, only the US.
When Microsoft first launched the XBOX 360 Pro with the HDMI port they were shipping in old Premium boxes so shops were selling as Premiums but now they have changed the boxes with PRO written on them. These are PRO consoles in premium boxes so are a great buy.
Watch out for shops selling the old CORE systems cheap as they do not carry any warranty from Microsoft as they are day one stock and dodgy.

Brilliant price this is less than a wii !

Cheapest I have seen the entry arcade console is around £135 - £140 at shopto so for an extra £30 you get the wireless pad and the Hardrive !

This is almost half the price of a ps3 with a much better, cheaper catalogue of games plus the best online service in the business. Heat and rep added !

Although it's a good price, I'd echo the sentiments of others on here - if you can wait, do - the 60Gb will likely be virtually the same price - just because it isn't confirmed for Europe yet doesn't mean it's unlikely. And before anyone accuses me of being a fanboy, I have a PS3, 360, Wii, DS and PSP. Although I am on my third 360 due to RRODs, it's still my favourite of the three!
