In Prey, gamers enter an unpredictable world where nothing can be taken for granted. Most of the game takes place within a living ship, a giant entity that can sense and react to Tommy's presence.

Prey makes use of Joseph's Campbell's renowned story structure, "The Hero's Journey," for guiding the main character arc. Campbell's extensive work on mythological story progression was made famous when George Lucas used it for Luke Skywalker's story arc in the original Star Wars.

Prey tells the story of Tommy, a Cherokee garage mechanic stuck on a reservation going nowhere. His life changes when an otherworldly crisis forces him to awaken spiritual powers from his long-forgotten birthright. Abducted along with his people to a menacing mothership orbiting Earth, he sets out to save himself and his girlfriend and eventually his planet.

Prey is serious, dark story, based on authentic Cherokee mythology. Themes of sacrifice, love and responsibility are explored and the story dives into emotional territory not yet explored by similar games.
Features:

* Built on an enhanced Doom 3 engine, the most impressive 3D engine used in a released game.
* Portal technology adds a new dimension to gameplay, allowing enemies to appear out of thin air and create new and completely original puzzles and gameplay styles.
* Several never-before-seen gameplay elements such as Spirit Walking, Wall Walking, and Deathwalk.
* Highly organic, living environment that itself can attack Tommy.
* A deep, emotional story of love and sacrifice.
* Tommy has a sidekick, a spiritual hawk that can help him fight enemies and decipher the alien language of the living ship.
* Multiplayer game support that takes advantage of the unique gameplay styles in Prey.

an excellent game - be aware that the single player game is pretty short (~ about 30 hours if i recall correctly) but the online multiplayer is great too

you call 30+ hours short!!!!!! What fps is more than this!

LOL LOL LOL I know it's not really that short is it? I guess after playing Elderscrolls for a total of 150 hours so far, I was (unrealistically) expecting more from Prey. Plus I paid £50 for it (friend gave me vouchers so couldn't buy online :-( ).

It is cheaper on play-asia.com:

Bought from here before with no problems and no import tax either.

I still don't quite trust play-asia - not sure about all this region free malarky.

Whats there not to be sure about?
I have bought loads of games from there region free before, including prey.
All fine, no different to buying from play.com or amazon - apart from being cheaper!

very easy game

took me about 10 hours overall to complete, looks pretty good but not a patch on the FPS that is Call of Duty 2.

any game under £25 is a good buy on the 360 though (except Kong!!)

cheers

Recommend Prey, it's also one of the few games i've bothered finishing recently - Though I clocked it in under 15hrs going at a fairly leisurely sightseeing pace. It certainly is pretty in high-def and their were several truly chilling moments.

that game makes me feel dizzy when i play it for some reason

I'm always wary of region free DVDs (they are almost always illegal copies) and I think the same about region free xbox 360 games. Surely they are supposed to be sold with region encoding?? How come some can be sold region free??

Microsoft officially gives all publishers the option to release their games without region coding. I think many publishers are testing the water by releasing certain titles without coding to see if it really is still necessary.

I half suspect all the software will gradually become region free. Besides, Play-Asia is a well respected company
