The sci-fi shooter Prey has been added to the dozen or so region-free games at Play-Asia.com

This is a great price for a brand new game, with decent reviews if you like sci-fi spacestation-based shooters.

Be warned though there most likely will be a £7.70 customs charge as its bing imported and is over £15 i got stung by this as did many others! All items beiong imported are subject to a customs charge if they are over a certain value!

The customs charge is a lottery...I have ordered a few 360 games from them (individually) and they all got past customs without a charge. I guess the video games sniffer dogs had an off day!

It's still very cheap with a £7 charge.

PS - are all menus etc. in English?

Yes....it says language:English.

I've had Asian versions of Far Cry and Ghost Recon from there and they've both been fully English.....plus I wasn't charged tax.....8-)

I'll hang fire for now, too busy for this distraction Great game, judging by the demo.

Is there a way for the UK Xbox 360 to read Asian, Japanese, US etc versions? A bit like the simple codes for Region 2 DVD recorders to be region free?

Not at the moment......most games will only play in their specific region (apart from the region-free ones).:(

I'm sure eventually there will be a boot disc or some software that will enable us to play all the regions.:-)

I too have bought a couple of games individually and they have both got through ok.

You can now chip the Xbox 360 so that it can play any region and also back up games. But it will void your warranty.

Not that I condone this, I am just pointing out the possibilities.

I did not think it was a chip...I thought someone had cracked the firmware, and then modified it, so any mods are done by flashing the the console, as opposed to attaching a chip to it.

Be warned about modifying any 360 console if you are an xbox live user as if your modifications are detected you will be banned from using that machine on the xbox live service.

With regards to Play Asia, I've ordered 4 games from them over the last 2 months and they have all arrived without any hint of a customs charge and, in fact, when I order Prey last week I received it with 4 days which is great considering it comes from Hong Kong!!

Four days! By contrast its been 2 and a half weeks since I ordered Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan on the DS from Lik-Sang - Where's my game fools!?!?

I know, even I was surprised at 4 days.

I usually wait around 7 - 9 days which is fair enough to get half price 360 games but 2 and a half weeks is a bit much.

Have you contacted them yet?

I've never had any reason to get in touch with them so I'd be interested to hear about their customer service

Yes, play-asia.com are very good and cheap. I use them for virtually everything I import and I've yet to be stung for a customs charge (I live in the middle of nowhere and usually get stung by customs for other stuff).
