Cheapest I've seen for a month or two, most places seem to be around £50. Still a rip-off imo, but might help some people out

Not sure if this is instore.

Still a ripoff, agreed, I just use wires, cost me around a fiver for a 20m cable from ebay, job done, and the 360 is upstairs, router downstairs, tack it nicely to the skirting and you dont notice it!

Oh, BTW, hello everyone, just found this site and its great.:)

Of course, it is indeed. It started life off as around £70 i think, now thats way too much!

Good price for what it is, but I think people should consider buying a wireless bridge instead, which would could be got cheaper.

Still way overpriced but best price at the moment.

thats what i`m thinking of doing its just which one do i pick

Complete waste of money as they all say above.

Am I correct to say that you can get this cheap via additionsdirect or littlewoods for first time customers? Not sure.

As the above said. Just buy a cross over cable. Will cost you less than a fiver.

If you have a laptop, which half the world has! You can just feed it through that. Problem solved.

this is a joke, you have to pay for live and the wireless adaptor, why why why. PS3 is the way to go

Is it? This gamer is holding off buying one until he sees some games on the PS3. Currently regardless of what you think of the hardware and lack of inbuilt wi-fi, the 360 is the gaming platform of choice of this generation, whether you like it or not.

I agree that this is over priced and probably should have been built in when they updated the console.

But the fact remains that whilst the PS3 is the more powerful console, it simply doesn't have the same games library. Without the right software, the hardware is somewhat irrelevant.

As for this deal, it is the cheapest price for this bit of kit

i want a wireless bridge which is the best one for a cable modem

I own both machines PS3 and Xbox, and I honestly find it a complete pain in the A*** when you have to pay for everything u get as standard on a PS3 and in the end u pay same amount of money for an xbox as you would PS3 and then you have to put up with its failure rate.
As for games library its only a matter of time before the PS3 is as good if not better choice... hell if it wernt for the exclusive titles like halo, GTA lost and damned i wouldnt bohter with the pain.

Probably the PS3 is the better machine, but not so good that I would consider buying both or have waited another year for the PS3 to be released. Even now I'd buy the Xbox purely on price alone, I don't need a wireless unit or a HD player so for me the Xbox 360 offers much better value.

Wow, thanks for the helpful comments about the deal, you've certainly helped me make my mind up!

Regardless of your personal console preference and your opinions about the product, this is a good price for it, thanks OP.

A good price? £40 for a wireless adapter.

Sucker.

Hm, wasn't there a offer a while ago 40pounds for this and 1 year live subscription? hm

b33r;5073689

Exactly! It's great fun seeing people take the mick out of XBL but for some reason it still manages to pull in millions and millions of users that are perfectly happy paying for a great service. It baffles me how people can compare it to PSN.

Anyway, I guess this is a decent price in terms of market price, but its still wayyyyy overpriced and wayyyyyy un-needed. Most people are much much much better off with a length of ethernet cable.

No it isn't a good price for a wireless adapter. But in terms of being able to get hold of this product, this is a good price.

doesnt seem to go any lower than this...
bought it for £59.99 3yrs ago.

Good price for how much it costs normaly!

Yes ofcourse in the scheme of things, this is a ripoff!
I'm moving into a new flat soon and I'm tempted by this just so I don't have to loosly run a ethenet cable all around the flat.
Anyone found out if this is available instore ?

For the people voting this cold, we really don't care what you think of the product. This thread is to do with getting the adapter for a less than anywhere else.

This is a great price compared to not any.... but everywhere else.... PS3 have had more than enough time to increase the games selection but still way behind xbox.

Voted hot great find!!

Same old same old.

This Xbox accessory above all others seems to bring out the ill-informed PS3 fanboy most, if they haven't got one why bother being so concerned about it?

Besides every Xbox will connect with a cheap old LAN cable for peanuts.

Any old router will do (wireless or not)
(and more and more of us are collecting them what with ISPs now offering their own wireless stuff in the deal).

If you like the integrated 'Xbox look' then I guess only this item will do but those PS3 fanboys who race in to slam this item are terribly misinformed (or deliberately spreading misinformation) when they pretend that you have to have this specific item to go on-line or wireless.

Everyone knows branded products attract a premium, Microsoft are not the 1st to ever do this, annoying as it is.
Interesting to see the fanboy line of attack switch, they used to sneer that those choosing Xbox did so cos we couldn't afford the PS3.
Very odd.

My own experience is that this is about as easy to use as can be & it works very well
(with several wireless modem routers, including the Netgear DGN2000 n spec modem router).

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but would a wireless USB dongle work in an X-Box?

no - you need either this or a wireless bridge.

No. Only the official ones work.

I have a PS3 and Xbox. Xbox does suck balls (it is poorly designed, prone to malfunction, lacks bluray, wireless, internet browser, crap controller, etc), but it still probably has more AAA games.

By the time you get all the additional crap for the 360 you pay more than you would for a fully loaded PS3 (£170 for the console, £30 for Live, £40 for wireless adapter, and you can't even get a bluray adapter for it so you would need to buy separate - £240 in all, plus the cost of blu ray, and I got my brand new, 80gb, fully loaded PS3 for £192).

Well, i dont agree with you at all, if you read around you will know that all multi-format games that get released the Xbox 360 version outperforms the PS3 version, its a fact, ok,ok PS3 has some good exclusives, but so does the 360, where it matters is with the Multi-format games and the 360 has the edge most times. Where is the PS3's Cross Chat? huh?:? I do admit to liking the PS3's Bluetooth support, something that was seriously omitted with the Xbox 360 (i wanna be able to connect my Mobile to it through bluetooth and use any bluetooth headset) and i do agree that the wireless should have been built in, if not on the arcade units atleast with the Elite versions and possibly the 60GB Pro's.

I've heard a lot of people say that mate, but I just don't get it. The d-pad on the 360 is total **** as far as I'm concerned. It never does what you want it to. A bigger problem, imo, is the analogue stick. It's too stiff for my liking. The buttons also feel too plasticky.

I like the PS2/3 controller because the analogue sticks are smoother and the d-pad is way more responsive. Having said that, I think the sixaxis function is a total waste of time.

Sure the xbox has malfunctioned time to time but microsoft will replace the console for u. Yeah it lacks bluray (internet viewing is the future)

Internet browser ( Yeah cus that was so popular on the dreamcast) Why would you wana sit on ur playstation and browse the internet especially if u have a laptop/pc which most people with a games console will.

As for the controller the playstation controller is the most boring piece of crap ever made and it copies so many other fine controllers its a joke xbox progressed their controllers making them smaller and convient layouts + they fit the hands perfectly.

wireless is no way to game imo, the connection from wireless connection even on laptops can be very poor sometimes so much so i connect my laptop with ethernet cable and dont even bother with its wireless.

ps3 Best-selling game MotorStorm, 3.31 million (as of December 31, 2008)

Actually, MGS4 has sold 5 million, and Halo 3 has only sold that much because it's so cheap (i.e. less than £10 new).

Xboxes malfunction 'from time to time' - NO! Every xbox is ****ed! It's just a matter of how long it takes. The failure rate on them is unbelievable.

I have a couple of friends working for different companies in the gaming industry who tell me that the 360 is the lead console, with the PS3 version following usually using ported code which then has to be optimised to try to get it to work properly (this is obviously the more likely scenario for western games producers, with the opposite being the case for the Japanese). They also tell me that the 360 is easier to program and the 360 has the edge on graphics. They both say the 360 is the better all round gaming console, however, they both own and prefer the PS3s, the main reason being the blu-ray player!

I have both but prefer the 360 to be honest. I have 10 times as many games for the 360, in fact I only buy PS3 exclusives for the PS3. I prefer the 360 controller, I prefer Xbox Live despite the sub, I think the 360 looks better, and the only thing I prefer on the PS3 is that it has a far better dashboard. Oh, and I have had a RROD, but it was sorted out and replaced no problem, as were two of the three PS2s I owned when they also broke during the warranty period (disc read problems). PS3 has proved to be reliable so far, but has not had as much use.

Just my opinion but I respect everyone else's. I am not a fanboy, although I must admit I had a soft spot for the Sega consoles (Dreamcast especially!) - I own pretty much every console since the master system and in some cases more than one of the same console (I have three game loving boys).

kissenger;5087647

It's just a very slight moulding flaw.

You need to thin the 'wall/ring' of plastic surround the d-pad, that's all.

It takes about 1 min to do with the correct blade/craft knife (unlike some you-tube guides you don't even need to take the controller apart if your careful).

Of course they should have made them right in the 1st place but there you go, just like RROD should never have happened.
At least the changed the Xbox and gave owners a 3yr warranty.

BTW, Blu-ray?
I don't want Blu-ray in a game console.
I have a far superior Blu-ray stand-alone (region free Blu-ray & DVD, proper bitstreaming etc).
Why would I want to pay for a ton of Blu-ray stuff in a game console I neither want nor will ever use?

lol, the wireless adapter is a wireless bridge you bunch of fools, its also 802.11a (which increases the number if channels[Unii Band] you can use etc). It can be used to connect up xbox's without the need for a router or server, hence the cost it a well programmed piece of kit in a small box.

oooh £40 is so expensive............lollington
