its £39.99 instore at game but great find and its still that little bit cheaper!

cold - £37.98 @ www.dixons.co.uk with quidco and free deliv

I was in HMV yesterday, and they were still advertising wireless network adaptors for £29.99, when bought with any chart game. And they still have some chart games for £19.99 (Which could be sold on).

So with a bit of effort, you can get a wireless network adaptor from HMV for £29.99.

oops - I voted hot before I read the comments - these have finally dropped then, back when I got mine I had to buy it from play-aisa to get a decent deal.

I just ordered one on tuesday from additions with the 30 pound off first order over 60 pounds code. It worked out at 34.63 inc delivery.

Or, if there's something else you want in HMV for £20, like another non-chart title or DVD's take the chart game back without the receipt and ask for an exchange?

Ditto on the voting before reading the thread!
These have been overpriced for way too long - it's good to see they're coming down in price.
Rep to jonnyballs, anyway. It might be marginally cheaper in a couple of other places, but thanks to your post I now know these have come down in price, so some credit's due

This has come down to £37.81 now...so a quid cheaper.

Good Price, but ive have seen it at dixons cheaper, but not by muhc maybe a £1 or so.
I still think that these wireless adpators are stupidly over priced anyhow.

This adaptor is a fantastic piece of kit. My Internet connection never drops and I play a fair bit of COD.

If you have a friend who works in Game btw, get them to buy it for you, they get between 10-25% off accessories. 40% off games!

even tho itz at this price im still findin it hard 2 part with my cash . xbox should reduce this 2 a affordable price to get more ppl online cause u still have to ay 4 xbox live aswell. and it will increase games sales fif they did to.

not by much as most use copied games online anyway :whistling:

I'm still amazed they haven't managed to release an xbox with integrated wireless .. but I'm sure they'll catch up with Sony eventually

i've heard you're better off with the ethernet because these apparently wont give you as as good connection through COD ?

Depends wireless can be ok depending on your router. With ethernet its guaranteed to be a good connection though (well to your router at least). Of course there is the added annoyance of having to run an ethernet cable to your xbox.

i'VE just bought my lad a 360 elite and had problems connecting it to my pc to get live' is this the answer to my problems plug and go anybody ??? .

if you are struggling on a wired connection then wifi wont help

how are you connecting the 360 to the net?

sounds like you have a problem with your network setup or router..

if you buy a wifi adapter then if you setup dmz/port forwarding for the xbox then you should have absolutely no problems if you enable dmz/port forwarding for the router/xbox

i had problems with my own router (my tenda n class needed dmz whilst my netgear didn't)

okay you need to sell your usb modem and just get a wireless adsl router.. these won't cost alot (around 20 pounds).. infact your provider might give you a free router if you threaten to leave them..

the xbox wireless adapter should then work perfectly fine with the router in most instances.. just google the router you are buying to check 100% it is compatible with xbox live (i.e. no need for dmz).

in the long run this should save you money since you won't need to keep your computer on to use xbox live.

Cheers mate i did try this with AOL and they replied i'd need to sign up for another 18 months :x Heard Skys not too bad for these tie up phone/broadband tv deals ..Thanks for the help ..

of course you won't need an xbox wifi adapter if your proposed adsel router is near to your xbox (which seems to be the case since your xbox is connected to your computer). just use the ethernet socket on the back of the router.

The modem i have only has a usb cable and dsl cable ..Somebody gave us a bt wireless router with a ethernet plug but still no luck does the code on the back have to be given to my provider ??? Ime with aol ,Bt phone line windows Xp computers lnked to x box ..

you will need to config your new router to your aol password and username. unfortunately some bt wireless routers are firmware locked to just bt usernames.

best way to find out is reset your router - there is usually a pinhole (on the back of the router) somewhere to reset the router. press it for about ten seconds.

then plug the ethernet cable from the back of your pc to the router.

go to the ms dos command prompt and type and type: ipconfig /all
( answers.yahoo.com/que…81n )

this will give the ip address of your router (usually 192.168.1.1 etc)

go to internet explorer and type in the ip address (in this case 192.168.1.1) in the address bar.

this will connect to your router.

if your router asks for a username/password then it is usually "admin" for both or "admin" username password "1234" or just consult the manual.

from there you can configure your router in the same way as your usb modem i.e. in the adsl connection put in your username and password to connect to aol. don't forget to connect the adsl phone line in the back of the router/

if this works then your router should work fine and you aren't just locked to bt broandband.

call aol help desk or get an IT knowledgeable guy to help you if you are still stuck.

cheers might need some help off my 11 year old son when he gets back :-D but i get your drift many thanks once again ..

I still cannot fathom how fanboys say how expensive a ps3 is when you have to pay £40 just to get a 360 wireless. This then makes an elite more expensive than a ps3 80gb!

not to mention a ps3 is a PROPER media server

I own both btw!

360 being the only non-wireless ready console in my living room out of the 3 I have, so would be convenient for an upgrade now that I've just got hold of an wireless router, but just can't justify being ripped off again with such high peripheral prices...

£130 for my Jasper Arcade, £30 for my 120gb HDD (would have been near £60 had I not got it on sale), near £30 for HDDVD drive (cheapish but not cheapest being the last available batch of new drives), £25 for the non-rechargeable extra controller in the WEP, and now near £40 for a wireless adaptor if I need to upgrade, too much imo.

When in reality, only a Fanboy would try and justify this price.

well said

As stated, I own both so am in no way a fanboy. Just realise that a ps3 is better value and has far better exclusives in the pipeline.

Aaand back to the actual topic... these wireless adapters are a damn rip-off. God knows why they had ethernet only included with the 360 - not many people have network cables hanging around their TV...

I usually just hook up my laptop to the ethernet port on the 360, and use it as a network bridge. Have a look at this for info:
instructables.com/id/…Si/

Not that I ever play online, seeing as you have to pay for it - which is another rip off considering that I hardly get around to playing on the 360 as it is.

Irrespective of how much you pay for this you should really get one if you have a PC. Then you can download videos to your PC, and watch them on your TV thru the XBox, as well as rip MP3s to your PC and listen to your whole music collection thru the TV. Worth every penny I paid for mine - I'd be lost without it!

some people have too much time on their hands

anyway, my ds3 controller doesnt have triggers :w00t:

I had to pay a whole £2 extra to get some. Not happy! Thankfully, thats the only extras you'll ever need on a ps3 ;-)

when ever these threads inevitably turns into fanboy arguements, I just … when ever these threads inevitably turns into fanboy arguements, I just feel people who only owns 1 console, have very little/no leg to stand on, doesn't matter if you quote or spin other peoples comments or other stats, you really need to be a multiplatform owner, to be able to give a fair(er), less biase & more convincing view on the subject matter.and incidentally I did just paid £2 each for a few fairs of Giotek Triggers, as they got pretty good reviews online and were on sale (not worth the £4/£5 online asking price), and as I got 4 DS3s so just curious to give it a try, but once I clipped them on it, it really doesn't feel much better, really not that special or needed. The DS3 is good to go as it is right out of the box, instead of having to pay yet more extra to get a rechargeable battery pack and charge kit, MS really knows have to squeeze every penny out of you when it comes to peripherals & accessories.as the owner of all 3 consoles, I know which gives me the best overall value, more complete package, and more suitable for my overall entertainment needs.

I own all 3 too and without doubt the ps3 offers the best value by a wide margin. Exclusives are now better too imho.

Every exclusive on the two platforms has a game that nearly equals it anyway (apart from LBP which I actually think looks pretty cool, despite you having to spend half the time MAKING the game, but I aint paying £300 for one game).

show us the equivalent exclusive to match UNCHARTED or INFAMOUS or MGS4. Dont even go there with crackdown lol

as stated previously, I own all 3 consoles so have an impartial view. Cannot believe how poor the 360 is in comparison and was shocked it cant even store divx / mp3s etc on the 120gb HDD I have. Hardly a media server of any kind really. I only bought it for the exclusives I;ve apparently missed out on but have only thought that PGR4 and GOW1 were any good at all.

So much easier to jump into a game with friends on XBL, also M$ do not announce their exclusives untill E3. One other thing is that hardly any games output in True HD, This may be down to the inferior GPU though.

dont have any problems playing online and as you say its FREE. MY 50" TV is only 1366 x 1024 so aint fussed about true HD. Inferior GPU? lol :-D

£300! My 80gb ps3 worked out at £193 after selling the bundled extras :-D

my elite was only about £50 less but then I dont have wifi out the box, no media storage / playback from the hdd, poor recent exclusives, its v.noisy, no HD/BR drive, no free MP, no reliability, etc etc..........

its a no-brainer really ;-)
