Game has the Xbox 360 wireless adapter for £59.99 but when bought with anything else, it knocks £15 off the price.

Add in a dvd wrap for 99p and apply the £3 off £30 discount code to get it delivered for £42.98.

Would have been better had the £5 off £30 was still working but this is still a crazy price. I believe you would pay this just to get a 2nd hand one.

Very strange indeed. Am about to buy it so if the cold voters can let me know where I can get the official wifi adapter for less, please let me now.

Why bother getting an "official" adaptor when you could just get a wireless bridge for £25?

not the same thing though, and for the non-technically minded, this is the best current deal out there.

so you pay £25 for a wireless bridge, then have to find another socket to plug it in, THEN you have to have an ethernet cable linking the 2 anyway...doesnt it kind of defeat the point of having a simple, elegant wireless solution in the first place?

I don't regard this as a good investment, the new xbox should be coming in the not too distant future and when it does it is likely that this will be obselete. An ethernet cable direct to the router does it for me (even if it does look a wee messy).

Not really, as you have an extra £20 in your pocket. I mean goodness, not an ethernet cable!!!! FWIW, I note that the microsoft adaptor has a cable too

A new Xbox, or a 360 with intergrated wireless is going to be some way off, also an ethernet cable is not always feasable for everyone.

What's your problem with an ethernet cable in the first place then?

my problem with this is that Microsoft is ripping of the consumer. Why is this little wireless dongle so much money. It seems to be a usb wireless thing that i can get of ebuyer for £15 to £20. Its not state of the art so why the high price.

OK so I've just realised this is not a genuine Microsoft product. So why is this one still very expensive for what it is... am i missing something?

11% quidco as well :-)

It is a genuine Microsoft product, and its so expensive because it has wireless a built in as well. Finding an equivalent device that is cheaper than this would be hard.

Good price!
This has never really dropped in price and has been something i have never been bothered about but would purchase for cheaper. This still doesn't win me over to purchasing one.
When they are £25 or £30 i might consider it!

What he means is why is the xbox version so expensive when the pc equivalent is so cheap. I'm guessing its the same reason why the official hard drives are also ridiculously over priced.

Thanks for reminding me i voted cold thanks to you. :santa:

Just to offer a High Street alternative....

GAME are offering the same wireless adapter for £44.99 when you make any purchase instore...

Saw this in Blackburn Store today as I am trying to find a bundle with the wireless adapter built in....

Also how good is this adapter when using the XBOX for Streaming media especially video as If I get an XBOX to do this there is no way of using an ethernet cable to connect it........

Streaming with this is absolutley fine and similar to any other wifi adapter.

2 walls both double thickness brick, one of them with electricity and gas cables running through it, the 10cm ethernet cable to the wireless bridge that sits on top of the xbox doesn't have to go through them, which is nice. :whistling:

Exactly, its one of the reasons they can sell the Tesco Value 360 for 129. They know they'll get the money in the end via the expensive add-ons and subscription costs.

False economy.

fantastic, i'd just ordered one from hmv, thankfuly i was able to cancel and order from game, great find,
cheers

Thank you, my son had one on his christmas list. £42.98 plus Quidco, great price for an official product. HOT, HOT, HOT:p

How does this fare for playing games on Live, and does it drop out much?.

Never dropped out for me in coming up for 2 years and is designed for playing live games so shouldnt be a problem.

Indeed. Why spend £43 on an accessory right now for a console you already own when you could wait a few months and spend £180 on a repackaged version of the same console which may or may not even exist? Makes perfect sense to me.

Just to let you`s all know, if you call the Microsoft service line and tell them that your wireless adapter ( wich you dont have yet) is faulty , yet when you try a friends on your xbox and it work`s fine. They will ask you for the serial number from your adapter, make up a story that your not calling from home and will ring them immediatly once you get home or say that it seems as if the label with the serial number is missing. As long as you xbox is under a year old and registered with them they will post you a free one.

I know this sounds nut`s but I got one free, I dont know if they have wisened up to the fact by now though.

let's hope they don't notice your post and ask the admin for your ip, eh? :whistling:

what a rip off! and they normally charge 60 quid for one do they? what an even bigger rip off! that's half the price of a gypsy xbox arcade

not saying its not a good deal though, being ripped off for 40 something quid is better than being ripped off for 60

Oh dear...

I've just ordered this as it's the best price I've seen, I was going to pay more on ebay. I made a quidco account for this too, it may only be 3% back is this is a hardware item.

I have to admit that these are a rip off, i would much rather use a wireless bridge, All a bridge does is plug into the usb of teh xbox (like this official one) and then use a etehrnet cable from the bridge to the xbox and done and you pocket £20 to go buy a game or soemthing =]

Just waiting for a belkin wireless bridge deal now :P

And it is a rip off because its just a dongle, dont you people come out with the trash saying its special and has a/b/g wireless connectivity because personaly if you have A or even B wireless your living in the drak ages. Also my friend has one and his internet regularly drops for him when using the offical product.

And for those of you buying it. what does it feel like to have bill gates grab you by the nu*s and twist em round not allowing you to use simple pc alternatives?

I think you'll find it's because anyone, regardless of technical ability can pick up the peripheral and connect it to their console without any major configuration required.

Yes, even you could do it.

Wireless a is better than b or g. Its also more expensive, hence the price of the adapter.
They should have made both adapters available. They should also think about providing a wireless n adapter.

Just to add to your factual post :

The reason 802.11a is better than g is because it operates at 5ghz instead of 2.4ghz which most appliances (microwaves, phones, etc) operate at. The result is a much better connection as there's hardly any interference.

I agree - they should really release an a/b/g/n adaptor once 802.11n is finalised.

All you have to really judge is is this a cheaper price than anywhere else. Yes it is. I paid £60 for one of these about 4 weeks ago. This is a hot deal.
