only the silver controllers and the gears of war designed ones have it

its not the 'black' controller.....is the controller that comes with the old style 360...

the black comes with the new slim 360 is over 40 notes with a charge pack....

for example play.com/Gam…%2b

but very good price for a wireless controller

heat added

nice find heat!

Is this not the same??

Love the reviews on Play from 2007. People were seemingly worried the Black controller wouldn't work on White consoles, like some weird console racial inequality thing... A simpler time.

Good find - thanks!

Just when I need one

i must have missed this one!! shame neither PC world or currys in my area (i have 4 shops in total) have 1 in stock!

@ yubious
Agreed about these being better than the new ones.

YES!! Just what i have been waiting for. Thanks.

what is the difference between these and the new ones?

This one has grey bits lol. Put another way, not a lot.

The newer version controllers are better in my opinion, better build and better black design, can't stand the look of the old black controllers as they always look used.

That being said, this is still a very good price!

Hot hot hot!

I'm looking at my controller that came with the Xbox Slim and trying to think of the subtle differences.

The D-Pad and analogue sticks are black and not grey (as previously mentioned on this thread)
The finish of the new controller is a little more matte black whereas the older black ones are a tad glossy.
When this controller was new, the analogue sticks felt quite hard and abrasive but soon "rubbered in"
I think the newer controller is a touch smaller and lighter but overall they both do the same thing in the same way, so its a deal!

Think the old ones said Microsoft at the top (near the sync button), the newer ones just say XBOX 360.

three types of wireless afaik

orig - white then black with grey inserts in grips and grey sticks

Then new slim xbox version as above but all black pad and sticks - nicest looking imho - some question as to whether build is same as orig - I haven't stripped one of these yet to say for sure but they do feel a little 'lighter'.

New silver controller (GoW3 one the same/poss mw3?) Build again feels a little flimsier (but it may be subjective) D pad rotates through 45degress to make an X shape rather than a + shape - The buttons on the RHS are also clear coloured I think

They're the same internally I have one of the red consoles and couldn't get a red controller for a sensible price so bought one of the new ones from Zavvi and swapped the red shell from my old controller. Kept the mirrored home button and black start and select.

Some have rotating d-pads. It's the only way they could give gamers the option of the old style + type because Nintendo own the patent....I think from the days of the NES

Hot and ordered thanks OP.

Hmmm, guess its a good price to buy one as a backup controller...ordered one!!!

What's the benefit of having a rotating D-pad? I have an old fat white Xbox and can't say that I've ever felt the need to rotate the D-pad 45 degrees - or am I missing something?

The say it's a bit more accurate, I'm not convinced.

I was asking myself the same question. It would look the same whatever way it was twisted!

Why would you need to rotate it when you have 2 analogue sticks that will look in diagonal directions if the game requires it?

heated and ordered.

I received my special edition Silver pad today (although I am currently printing off a return form as the A button is sticky/defective)

When you rotate the D-pad, the + shape protrudes from the pad, or rather the grey bits around it move down.

It is seriously useful having the new d-pad rotated while playing Gears of War games as it is more accurate and less chance of an incorrect weapon swap, it is literally a life saver in certain circumstances.

Picture on the website is now showing the all black S controller.

I would rather there be a software update that removes the sawn off shotgun from Gears 3 than have a rotating D-Pad.

I guess it boils down to how much your gaming means to you, which is perfectly fine.

Sorry, I'm not an Xbox person, but my partner wants a controller for his PC. Will this work using a play and charge cable?

Well the White Play and Charge kit doesn't work with black controllers so that would make marginal sense lol.

Nope.

Needs a wireless reciever for it to work. Even if it's plugged in. Better off just buying a Wired one.
