Just bought a £99 wii at Asda and saw the Xbox arcade on the same shelf for £89.

Seems a good deal. There was mention that the Wii deal was only for the 1st and 2nd of January, so this might be the same, in which case you may only have a few hours to take advantage.

However checkout girl on the service desk at my local asda hadn't head that the deal was only for the 2 days, so might still be available in the coming days.

I'm assuming this deal is nationwide, just like the Wii deal.

Hi OP which store did you get this from? Thanks

After that mess I decided to go full guns and get a 250GB Slim with COD Blackops for £205 @ Morrisons. Deal still on but not displayed, request scan.

I saw these before xmas reduced to £65 in my local store - definitely store specific though.

These were in Asda Living at this price in Llantrisant yesterday to confirm

I posted this exact same deal a month ago and it was cold. I don't get it.

A month again you were competing against another deal from what people thought was a "respected" retailer (sainsburys entertainment) that was £20+ cheaper.

Beats me how these get hot. 1 person got one, no idea if its nationwide, might bob down to Asda Owlcotes, Pudsey tomorrow to have a look.

it will only end up bost in a few months!!!! get the new one.

I'm always amazed these are still hanging around shops even now!

I think the supermarket deals tend to be store specific. Never managed to bag one myself despite trying DS, DSi, PS3 and Xbox with various supermarkets including M, T and A :-)

With respect (as it does seem to be a bit of a gamble with Xbox 360s), I have to agree with OldEnglish as we seem to have enough dead 360s in our house that we could build a small fort with them, I think reliable ones are the exception rather than the rule (and no ours haven't been cooked in TV cabinets etc, they're just made somewhat poorly on a tight budget IMO).
Still a good price for a new 360 though!

So do i. Flashed my a year ago, played on live for the past year no probs, Just updated it to LT+ and play online still. Provided you dont play out of region games before the UK release then your ok. Free games, Cant beat it and the money you save you can easily buy a new 360 if you do get banned. No brainer really.

I hate that people like you exist, and don't get caught.

Like everyone else I was expecting another ban in November but it just didn't come at all in 2010, So it would seem that they cannot detect the LT firmware at all. Get these cheap xbox's while they are still around and so simple to flash before it's only the slims which are £140 ish

Yes, there still are people who couldn't give a monkey's about online gaming as well as myself and my daughter, so voted hot if readily available. Had a 'Jasper' version for two years now with no problems whatsoever. If this is still available then I'll nab one.

I don't remember saying the PS3 was any better (there's plenty of Xbox/PS3 arguments around without starting yet another one so let's not go down that road), but just for the record we've had 3 of them with RROD, one of which suffered drive failure a few months after repair, and another 1 with just a drive failure. As far as I'm concerned yes it's good that MS will fix it, but it doesn't mean that the initial build quality is good (if anything it just shows MS admit it's a manufacture quality issue not wear and tear).

(_;) Hi People I will add some Hot, Yes it has no WIFI, but for best performance use Ethernet into Wireless Router. I have never used Live personally as also have a PS3, but I do have an Arcade that I got for £50 with Dirt 2 and Forza 3 and keep thinking I will sell, until I play those 2 games. Yes the PS3 also has YLOD and Sony Don't admit it is a problem and Microsoft do with RROD, and it doesn't take much to get it either, as we have an Original Premium model in our hair salon and this got RROD 30 Months after purchase, and fair play it got Fixed. People make your own minds up if it is HOT, but If you want a system to be a Media Hub then it is PS3 all the way

You must be using yours as an ornament!!!! 2005 your having a giraffe!!! i have had four of these all broke gave up in the end, to be fair to microsort they do repair em but its still a pain in the a*se. but i have heard the new ones now are much better.

Bought one of these for my brother on Thursday from Asda Glasgow Fort, scanned at £105 with Forza 3 or £89.99 without the game.

Bought an Arcade myself over 3 years ago and still going strong for any of the doubters...

nothing at wembley ASDA

There ridiculously noisy. They sound like they are gonna break, it puts me off turning mine on tbh and i stick to the ps3. Although it helps that my ps3 is psgrooved.

Then you're very lucky. I've just had to change the laser in my Elite, which is Xbox #4, and only a year and a half old.

The 360 RROD is mostly down to usage...wear and tear just like the PS3 YLOD or anything else for that matter.

Mine's not noisy and it's two years old, and I'm fussy about noise (I build quiet PC's).

Not true. Its a design flaw in the original 360. They use patented 'x-clamps' on the motherboard which hold down the GPU and CPU but due to the amount of heat from the machine. this causes the 'x-clamps' to move slightly causing the motherboard to flex and then the solder around the GPU and CPU becomes fractured thus producing the 3 red lights or random freezing. The lead free solder that MS used is pretty rubbish tbh.

They have now redesigned the 360 by bringing out the slim which "should" cure these issues although i have read a few reports online of the power supply failing in them although this may just be net hearsay.

I have been fixing 360's for a few years now and personally dont see this as a good deal. £89 isnt a very good price when you could pick up a much newer model (not the slim) for not much more and it would most likely contain the newer chipset.

2 Asda stores in the Midlands said stocks had been deleted - good buy if you can get one.

My launch console has been running fine (one without the HDD) but only brought a new slim last year due to the noise. Apart from that, it never gave me any issues but then again I dont sit infront of it for hours on end playing it causing the RROD.

No they don't, my friend had the yellow light of death a while back so he gave Sony a call.
The b**tards forced him to wait 48 hours for a courior to come round and make him swap his console for a brand new one. UNACCEPTABLE!

I must admit, The slim is much quieter than the older ones, I have one of each and hate booting up my phat after using my slim for a while.

Better than pay £90 and £120 for a refurb like two of my mates did from Sony.

Do the Slims still spin the discs up like a miniature turbine engine? That's where a lot of the noise comes from.

Wonder if Asda will do a PS3 offer?
