So, I was unsure where to put this but Microsoft have just announced that any games made by Microsoft Studio's will immediately be available on Xbox Game Pass.

So upcoming games include Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2. Pretty big games!

Seems a bold move.

This only £4.99 per month, not £7.99 from CDkeys in OP's 2nd link

Nowhere in the article does it say there are going to be only one month. I imagine Xbox are getting ahead in what will be the new way to consume games in the future. Creating a service much like Netflix. I think it is a fantastic idea as they allow you to download them and not just stream them as Sony do.

Kudos on this move to Microsoft.

Now to cancel some pre-orders.

Another fantastic move by Microsoft for Xbox gaming. Interesting concept, and even if they're likely to only hang around on Game Pass for a month, £7.99 is unarguably great value - not only for the huge catalogue on there, but for the chance to play some of these fantastic games on launch.

Remember people, Fable is coming

Appreciate the heads up, @sihaworth heat applied.
This is amazingly good value although personally I'll still be buying games for the same reason I rarely rented videos, I want to actually own the game and not be left with nothing when my subscription expires.

Probably be a 10 hour trial, like EA have done with their pass?

It’s full game as long as you have Xbox Game pass

Well this way you'd get to weed out the lemons, and you can buy your favourites later when their price has dropped.

Just sounds too good to be true. Haha.
Agree this looks good but it doesn't say how long they will stay on Game Pass.
My guess is 1 month, to get you hooked and then you will have to buy it at a discount.

It they were really serious they would make all previous MS Studio games available i.e. Forza 7, Horizon 3 etc
Just gone from not being good value to really good value for me.

Good point. Be interesting to see how this pans out.
Still £96 a year unless you can pick up cheap credit so I personally don't think I'll be going for this. Good to see they're trying something different but it's a bit too expensive for me.

I'd like to see some discount for signing up for 6 months/12 months. Like they do for Live.

According to their FAQ section that would be a no unfortunately.

Got a 30 trial code with my Xbox One X ... Really considering this now. At the very least it's a great way to demo full games - plus a lot of games have no replay ability nowadays too.
At £8 a month, I’ll pass (no pun intended). I could use that £96 to buy a bunch of games to keep! I mean how many games are really on there that you’ll actually want to play. If it was more akin to EA Access where it’s like £18 a year then it’s almost a justifiable extravagance. But it’s more money than Netflix.

Also.. side note... isn’t this going to hurt sales of these games? 👀

Wow, that is very nice indeed, and all future Forza, Gears and Halo games as well, very nice.

Heat.

This is huge, can't help but feel it'll affect their sales though?
Very glad I didn't claim the 7 one month passes I got from EGX 😁

Don't forget these are games made by their studio. I know Phil Spencer has said recently that they need to up their game to compete with PlayStation on internal content so this may be a first step, get more people playing.
That's my pre order of Sea of Thieves cancelled then.

But why? Recore is part of the game pass as well as zoo tycoon ultimate collection and they're free on Windows 10 store too as long as you have an active game pass subscription.
Hardly touch my PS4 anymore because of things like this

What I normally do is preorder or buy a game on release day (say £40), play it to completion, then trade it in to CEX for around £30 - if I like it, I will buy it again when it drops to £20 or below. With this, I can save a few quid, not have to faff with CEX, and maybe get to try a game or two before the month subscription is up. I wasn't interested in Sea of Thieves but may give it a go now
Playstation now keeps looking worse and worse

That's one heck of a move from MS, I know there were rumours of MS announcing something big this week regarding their digital library, but I don't think anyone was expecting something this crazy.
This is an awesome move, but we need yearly subs and sub cards in stores to bring that price down. £96 a year is a littttleee steep. The value is there, as they'll add 3+ brand new games at launch a year for sure which covers it, but you don't 'own' the games.

It's always looked terrible and that's coming from someone who plays in PlayStation 90% of the time. Would love to see a game pass or EA Access on PS.

Time to boot up my Xbox One S

It will, but it's a new business model. One that might yet be more profitable.
deleted79906223rd Jan

the clever part is I think they will see a rise in subscriptions

IF they keep the current price I agree. I suspect it will increase
Wow nice. Why would anyone buy crackdown 3 though if they can likely beat it with a 2 week or 1 month free pass?! (appreciate there will also be multiplayer). I've got a couple of passes I haven't redeemed. Looks like I'll be completing crackdown for free and hurting Microsoft's bottom line!

So even if you have downloaded and installed if it comes of game pass you can’t play?

Just really good news all round - can't knock their efforts
I wonder how long they'll stay on there.
Will be using my 30 day trial for Sea Of Thieves.
I predict loot boxes...
sounds a great deal but wont this damage all game shops bottom line and also the sales figures of new games

to give Microsoft there due this gen they have done more for gamers than sony and they aren't half as greedy as either sony or nintendo.

just look of the shambles called playstation now and each time sony increase the price of plus the service gets worse!

thank god they have such great exclusives and a home JRPGs or i would of sold my ps4 by now
