Never ever link your card details with your Microsoft account, just takes …Never ever link your card details with your Microsoft account, just takes you to forget to cancel and boom you pay for a full year full whack

To be fair, they do give you at least a week or more of advanced warning and again plus it's simple to cancel automatic renewal through you subscriptions in your Microsoft account, you can even do it straight after you subscribe, it's nothing like it was many years ago which was very annoying.

Anyway, great deal, gets those games with gold next month too and sales discounts.

To be fair, the same principal applies to everything subscription based, not just XBL.

Amazon Prime, PlayStation Network, a free trial of Spotify.. everything.

We all own phones with a capable reminder system now, so this is truly a non-issue.

Must be account specific I presume
Expired members?
It's on everyone's account, it's just an offer for your 1st month.

Probably, my son's live just before black Friday and the day after the £1 for 1 month was showing on the dashboard. Others have also reported £26 for 1 year after their live has expired.

My sons had expired so i looked into a £1 but it does say £7.99 a month their after
Have two live account and alternate when these offers are on think a paid £1 for about 6 months last year and used 3 month offers (£3.99) for the rest only had about 2 weeks without live.
Duplicate of this deal (which admittedly didn't mention that it was also available to expired members):

Had this the last 2 months now on my sons account only after it expired. Which reminds me I better switch off auto renew again

All you do to prevent this is buy it and as soon as you have turn auto renew off. Problem solved
Did mine for £1 a couple of days ago (don’t really used xbl now as just play on PC but for £1...). Went straight over to xbox account and cancelled auto renew.
I finished Novembers task of playing 3 hours or retro games from the game pass library. I won a prize worth 5$ which turned out to be a 1 month Xbox Live Gold code. I would recommend getting this deal on the 1st January and seeing what tasks are available.

The December tasks were a lot more time consuming if I remember.

Not true about simple to cancel automatic renewal - we switched off the auto renewal on my sons account when he opted to swich. But at end of year the credit card was automatically charged with an annual renewal without any reminder or warning.

I spend a number of phone calls to microsoft request a refund (not easy in itself) as I thought we had clearly provided prior notification of our intention to NOT renew. All requests were denied and the card company were unable to help as this was classed as an electronic subscription transaction.
So all account details were removed from the account and that's the last that penny they had off us.

So if you ever want to stop renewal then also remove all account details at the same time !

Have you looked on your dashboard on your Xbox? Mine ran out and I didn’t get any emails from them with offers. When I signed into my Xbox, the offer was there.
I've had no luck with these offers - one has been on my dashboard for months and comes up with an error code when trying to redeem.

Spent 30 minutes talking to a MS representative and then was told that you could only get this if you had never had a £1 trial. Debating whether it was fair to advertise a deal without that being made clear got me nowhere.

Fingers crossed it works for you.

It says when I sign up that its 1 this month then 5.99 every month after. So do i sign up and cancel immediately?

You can sign up and then disable auto-renew on the subscription. That way you'll only be charged £1 for 1 month.
