I dont care how cheap it is, I would never put my credit card on xbox.

some people are so misinformed. If you ever read the news article instead of skimming it you would realise it was all a phishing scam, where morons would enter their details such as emails and passwords for xbox live through a website which was emailed to them supposedly from "xbox" At no point were details of credit cards taken from microsoft... sigh.

It's people like you that are targeted in these scams... there's no 'hacking' here, it's stupid people giving personal info to strangers.

As for not giving credit cards on XBox.com, again, another fallacy, given that the issues they had with cancellation was ages ago, and you can now remove details on the website... If they auto renew, then it's your own fault.

Still, not voting hot, as this is a very selective offer, you can't simply see it and chose to buy, as you probably won't be offered it.

Just misinformation really gets on my my moobs.

If you contact Xbox Live directly then they can remove the credit card details and provide you with a code. I did it as I took the auto renewal off and then realised that you have to have a payment linked to the account so couldn't remove the card details. I rang the Xbox Live number and they removed the card details and emailed me a code for the Xbox Live 12 months membership for £26.50.
You might be able to contact them directly and just pay over the phone and get the code. Hope this helps another Xbox novice like myself!

Congratulations to the sun. Another scare story where they lie. Xbox was NOT HACKED, yet the story strongly implies and infers that. The BBC had a follow up story where they talked to "an ethical hacker who said 'this is the third hack of gaming sites in as many months'" thereby amplifying the lie. It was a phishing scam targetting dumb greedy people wanting something for nothing.

If you give away your details to get "free microsoft points" then frankly you deserve what you get.

Sony was hacked. Codemasters was hacked. Nintendo was hacked. Steam was hacked. Xbox was NOT hacked.

*walks away shaking head at the sheer stupidity*

Nice find, mine runs out in a few weeks. Many thanks.

People who read the sun, star, mirror, mail etc are not actually interested in fact, or 'news' as we used to call it.
They just want an excuse to huff and puff and be angry about something, whether its true or not.

i actually did read the article and in the newspaper I read it said it was mostly phising scams, HOWEVER some accounts were in fact hacked and money had been taken. You were also advised to keep an eye on your bank accounts, and also change your password for your own security.

So dont tell me I didnt read the article.

I cant seen to find this on the Xbox dashboard fellas?

lol

i rang them up and got it for £23.99

£39.99 for me?

39.99 for me too. Anyone tested this? Got instructions?

I got this yesterday. It was just there on the dashboard. I only had silver when I upgraded, don't know if this makes any difference.

You will mostly find this is for silver members - i was gold up until last week and i've never seen any of these offers on the dashboard. However, this popped up for me last night!

..and to clarify, phishing & hacking are totally different. I would always think twice before passing on info from the sun as knowledge!!
