I've just purchased Xbox Live Gold 12 + 2 months from Sainsbury's Huddersfield Shorehead for £34.99 - the normal price for just 12 months.

Not sure if nationwide.

Note: this is only about £1 more expensive than the Zavvi/Hut deal, with the added advantage of receiving it straight away, of course.

Is the deal on xbox live finished where you get 12 months for £23.99?

I saw that on here - but I believe this only seems to be open to NEW Gold members, not for extending an existing subscription.

Not true m8 it is also available for existing customers.

Actually it was open to both.

This seems to be expired - however there seemed to be some debate on whether it was or not.

However, "pro-rata" the 23.99 deal is £27.99, if you consider that it is for 12, not 14 months.

However, the auto-renewal thing (which took me 1hr+ to cancel by phone) and the possibility of having to pay for the 2nd year at full price, really put me off this deal.

I cancelled the renewal subscription on the M$ website. No need to phone them up.

When I did this a few months ago - I couldn't see this option.
After a bit of research - it seems only some territories (such as US) allowed this, but not the UK.

the £23 deal is over, i checked earlier it now says £28 - 20% off.

Which effectively makes that deal £32.66 over 14 months (versus £34.99 for this deal).
Plus with this - there's no strings that seem to be attached to that deal - auto renewal, remembering to cancel (by whatever method) after 1 year, owning Halo Reach, wind blowing in right direction etc.
