[Xbox One] Cobalt and Kalimba - free with Games with Gold - Microsoft Japan

Two games that have been available before. Japan received Cobalt in August and Kalimba was free in October, but in case you didn't pick one of them up (I didn't) or are new to XBox Live, here they are again.

Cobalt:
"Shoot, roll, punch, and jump your way to slowmotion victory in Cobalt, an action platformer from Oxeye Game Studio. Take on the role of a mysterious cyborg stranded on an even more mysterious planet in our single player campaign, or play with friends in a wealth of coop and versus multiplayer modes. It's an incredible amount of fun. The game is localized in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish".

Microsoft Japan links:
Cobalt: microsoft.com/ja-…5ks
Kalimba: microsoft.com/ja-…c=1
Google Translate is useful in navigating the purchase.

Reviews:
Cobalt Metacritic: 66% (13 critics, 7.6 from 17 users)
Kalimba Metacritic: 81% (26 critics, 7.3 from 32 users)

From the 16th December:
Magic: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2015 in Japan (when Back to the Future becomes available).

Reviews:
Magic:Duels of the Planeswalkers 2015 Metacritic: 59% (6 critics, 5.1 from 31 users)

Reddit and eventually Wikipedia list them on a monthly basis. XBox One purchases aren't region-locked (whereas XBox 360 ones are), so we can obtain them without switching regions.

Nice one Thanks for the links 2

cheers pal

Got em both already but heat for the heads up for others

Nice one, have some heat

So how (or can you?) get these outside of being in Japan?

Thanks OP. Nice and easy to do. Are there any other games that people are aware of which are free in other regions but not the UK?

Ben-Hur is available for free using a US account. It is quite probably the most laughable excuse for a game I have ever witnessed. Try it out!

Games available in other regions vary on a month-by-month basis (sometimes they aren't localised or suitable for the region), Magic: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2015 will be available from the 16th in Japan (when Back to the Future becomes available).

That sounds like something you need to take up with Microsoft support (perhaps you bought it at the wrong place/time). Google Translate should help you translate what you are going to be charged.

I have no idea what to click on haha any tips?

Some regions get shafted big time. Isn't this the third time Japan has gotten this as Games with Gold?

Depending on browser and how you got to the game on the site it will occasionally take you to the GB pages for billing.

Once purchased they can’t charge you although this is against their T&Cs so you can’t complain either!

If its in Japanese right through to billing it should be free

Just copy and paste the Japanese text on Google translator page

Great tip, thanks ! I can't get Microsoft store to work in google chrome browser. connection unexpectedly closed. But the store works in internet explorer but you need to manually copy japanese text into google translate. For me Kalimba said 1080 yen. But when I got to confirm the purchase it said 0.

I can't sign in with PayPal. Never mind

Translate always worked and said free. Its weird. It happen lile 1 month after! So the last time some one posted kalimba free. One month later i got charged. I will be doing a case with paypay.as i have all proof. Kalimba though is one off thee best games i have every played! I just wish it was on line! And i admit. I got stuck and had to use youtube as it gets so hard! Good luck to all who take the challange

Cannot get the Cobalt link to work. I hit the buy button and it just goes to "site cannot be reached". Do I need to change my region settings?

The links are working fine for me in IE/Mozilla and you don't need to change your settings. Maybe login.live.com is being blocked by your ISP/employer?
