I've seen these controllers around, always seem to be quite pricey. For someone who hasn't had an xbox for since the 360 days, what's so special about this?

Fully reconfigurable and has paddles at your middle finger.
I want one, but don't use my Xbox enough to justify it at full price.

You can remap the controllers like the scuf controllers. You can switch the buttons be other buttons eg switch a to be b and b to be a etc.

You can add paddles to the back so you can jump/crouch in a shooter game without having to take your thumb off the aim button, giving you a slight advantage.

Does the white one? I would pay £80-£100 for one of those if they did.
Good deal but probably only 1 in the whole country so not really relevant

The best controller. Accept no substitutes!
The one I had the magnetic thumb sticks kept falling off and the paddles stopped you from gripping the controller properly. Traded it back in for a £5 loss.
Amazing controller but not worth the money
They are nice controllers but far from perfect.

Mine is in the cupboard waiting for me to get around to gluing the rubber grips back on and I also had to fix the loose thumbsticks.
My son's had the lose thumbsticks & the bumper button broke.
A few pounds to fix with a kit off eBay/Amazon but I shouldn't have to repair £125 controllers that are a couple of years old, especially when my 360 ones were so old & used they had worn through the rubber on the thumbsticks, in comparison my Elite ones still look like new so have had a much easier life.
All common issues when searching online.
These have the plastic thumbstick assembly from the Series 1 controllers. They are prone breaking/stick drift on the left side. These controllers last about 3 months max for me, but I'm pretty heavy handed. That said, most don't last more than about 18 months or 2 years from what I've read. The S controllers have copper assembly after Microsoft got too many complaints, and I can confirm these are good - no issues in around 12 months use. It's cold for me for that reason.

I think that's the point, being 'elite' the aim is to reduce latency (makes no difference to me BTW) but I imagine that's the rationale.

nope the white is exactly the same just a new/different colour option.
Crikey, £90-£100 controller and theres a business selling fixing kits for them... That's terrible quality to my mind..
Still got my original Xbox controller since release no issues, had one of these under a year and have really bad stick drift on the right stick

Newer model controllers are Bluetooth, one of my Xbox ones is in the lounge but connected via a zoned amp so I can play in the kitchen if the wife’s using the main TV. My older non Bluetooth controller won’t connect at that distance (this is a known issue, they have quite a short range) and that is one of the reasons MS changed to Bluetooth. Another benefit is you can use them on a PC without the extra adaptor or any other Bluetooth enabled device, Raspberry Pi etc.
Lucky find, enjoy. Please pop back with your impressions.
Such old tech now.

I'm assuming Warrington Extra as they are the only store who stocks them. Sometimes Tesco reduce products in the same area at the same time so maybe try calling Northwich, Widnes or St Helens.

Thanks buddy that's good to know, I'd want Bluetooth myself
Didn't see this post at the time, but picked one up for the same amount at Horsham Tesco this evening. A quick check here revealed this posting. Right time and place . Also picked Gran Turismo Sport for a fiver as well. There was only one.

Whats that a Mk2/Mk3?
Back rubber on controller falls off over time - mines knackered now! - google it known problem! Real shame
christ - how much?!
This is type of deal in most cases is not nationwide, so really it should not gain any traction on this site. I feel this deal has been trolled somewhat?!
This is very tempting for some but believe me, dont buy this pos. Mine broke after a year. Very convenient because the warranty is only a year. So what happened? I got the infamous thumbstick drift. This is when the thumbstick simulate like its moving on one direction even though you're not moving the sticks physically. This is a worldwide problem. Every single Xbox One controller to date suffers from this. Go on youtube and you'll see videos with millions of views. The controller will break, How do I know? Because I bought a second one and that is the newest model which Microsoft labelled "Special Edition, White Elite Controller". Yep. It broke and it didnt even last 6 months.

It is to rub into people's wounds for not living in Warrington and how lucky they are.
