Almost worth upgrading from gen 1 at this price
It's been dropping to a similar price on Amazon and its a much better option. If you have one of the dodgy ones I'd be surprised if an eBay seller would help.

You will get some protection with PayPal for 6 months and also could get it replaced by Microsoft, but if it did drop to £126.99 that it was recently with 12 month interest free option then I’d for that persona

A lot of them have issues and one of the main ones is the A button not working all the time, my first from Amazon had that problem and they had no issues with sending me a new one and then allowing me to send the old one back after
Ordered something from this seller yesterday but promo code wouldnt work on it, blinking annoying! £600 spent so discount wouldve been very nice! Great deal though, heat
£56 for a used/refurb one from stockmustgo using ebay code are the moment.

Does it actually make that much difference from a normal pad to warrant the cost? I’ve never tried one

Grade C though... you could fix it up yourself with a new shell, etc for less than a new one, I suppose.

The big difference is the buttons(paddles) on the back. It makes a huge difference. It means you never need to take your thumb off the right stick if you don't want to.

It's a learning curve using your fingers under the controller instead of the face buttons but once you're used to it, it's the best. I'll definitely buy another one the same when this one goes.

Depends what games you play I guess.

I got mine from the Amazon deal and I play COD most nights, so for me it's been a game changer!! Using the back paddles for jumping and sliding/going prone means I can keep my thumb on the right stick so you can slide/slide cancel, turn and jump all at once whilst being able to aim with the right stick.

Plus the ability to change the stick tension and also move the thumb trigger movement to a lower setting all means I can play better so my win rate, K/D ratio etc has all improved since using this controller. I was playing the COD Cold War Alpha on PS4 when it was free last weekend and without the Elite controller it was much more difficult to play.

They do feel generally better to use as well, nicer quality, heavier etc.

And finally, the battery is outstanding. I normally charge my controller every 3 nights or so, but I've had this for 2 weeks now and haven't charged it and it's still at 50% battery.

+1

For the first couple of hours I wasn't sure about the paddles and was finding it difficult to get used to, but after a few weeks I wouldn't go back now.
130 quid and still won't deal with the analogue drift problem.
What’s it’s like for ease of return etc when they break?
Has the quality improved on the series 2? As the original series 1 were plagued with faults of failing apart in your hands or shoulder buttoned snapping. If there still lots of problems with the new ones then I would be surprised Microsoft hasn’t ironed out all the kinks from the previous model
I cant believe how much controllers are

I have a standard XB1 controller but I keep having to replace the joysticks

Anyone know of a good replacement set as the cheap ones don't last

Thanks

The adjustable tension setting on the thumbsticks is great. Re mapping the paddles to do what the face buttons do is a big help too.

I upgraded from gen 1 a couple of weeks ago, the improvement from gen 1 to 2 is as big as standard to gen 1 imo.
For anyone wondering amazon seem to drop the price often and you can pay £10 for 3rd party 3 year insurance to cover beyond the warranty

Nope... only xbox fan bois would be crazy enough to buy these lol...

I bought that but then I contacted the provider for clarification... turns out Amazon shouldn't be advertising it on the page and it's not actually covered so I got it refunded. The insurance they offer is for games consoles and not games console accessories.

What's breaking the actual stick or just the thumb bit. If its the latter get some caps.

Most analog sticks have the potential to develop a drift problem, it's because of the mechanism to return it to neutral position. Nothing that can be done about that other than a repair/replacement. I mean, I suppose if they used the highest possible grade of materials it would be much better (though not 100% impossible to occur), but then you would have to pay even more than an Elite controller. From my experience XBox One controllers and Switch Pro controllers don't develop this issue as much (or as quickly) as some others.

Why limit yourself to a specific console? I guess with your fan boi comment you only have PS4?

I’ve had both consoles since day 1, and will probably do the same again. I don’t have to align myself then, and get to play all exclusives.

Sadly the Switch Pro controller is incredibly prone to analog drift. I love my pro controller, but it's drifting drives me crazy and there are countless other people with the same experience. I've gotten so much entertainment out of my switch but Nintendos quality control on both the joycons and pro controller has been abysmal sadly.
