A few quid dearer than the Amazon.de and Microsoft Swiss deals currently doing the rounds, but might be more appealing to those who want one but are hesitant to buy from abroad. Plus there's the bonus of being able to pick it up straight away

Been monitoring for a few days... Started at £349.99 before Crimbo, £299.99 on Boxing Day and now £234.99

Significantly more than a few quid dearer than Amazon.de by the way...

It's a matter of opinion I guess.. I ordered the console from Amazon.de. Opted for 3-5 day delivery, which would have been delivered next Tuesday. After the conversion and delivery charge, it came to £212.20. For delivery on Thursday 28th, it came to £232... For the cheapest delivery option, you'd could be waiting till after January 5th.
I have terrible luck with overseas purchases.
So in my case and in my opinion an extra £23 for peace of mind and going to pick up the console later this morning makes it worthwhile.. Of course it may not be to everyone's taste.

A fair comment. That said, I'm sure we can both agree that it's horrifically overpriced for an older console, in addition to the fact that it looks awful!

So is it such a hardship to maybe have to have wait a whole week to save yourself 35 quid?

And no idea where you're getting £212.20 from because when you use a commission free kite nine times out of ten it ends up cheaper than what Herr Google says.

Saying you don't have a commission free form of payment is futile nowadays because even Mickey Mouse 5000%APR Aqua do one that is free on foreign transactions, never mind your Nationwide Selects and whatever card The Halifax have got so there's absolutely no need to weigh on any more than the actual price in €, $, ¥ or whatever currency you're making your purchase in.
Paid £249.99 for this from Argos last Saturday. Don't suppose they have a refund the difference policy if sold at a cheaper price within a certain period?.

Just buy it at the reduced price give it 3 days (dont open the one you just purchased) then go back in with the old receipt for the new console

Ive done that loads of times.

Just saying what I saw... When I looked at the invoice it said 230 euros and some change, and underneath, £212 and some change.
As I Said, it's not for everyone... but if like me, you work very long hours and the holiday period is realistically going to be the only time you get to set up, configure, transfer game data and saved games etc, then yes, a week makes all the difference

Good deal, just a shame they never do this with PlayStation, my daughter would be over the moon

Never do what with Playstation do you mean? Sony are taking the punters for granted this generation so stick two fingers up at them and get her an Xbone instead. I have been buying all my multi plat titles on Xbox rather than Playstation for a couple of years now because Sony keep taking the pxxx, only have to look at them raising the price of PS+ yet their IGC continues to be utter tosh

I upgraded from a storm grey S to the Project Scorpio X a month or two ago so have absolutely no need for this apart from a bedroom 'second' console as such. Like something I could never justify it to the missus yet I am still ummming n ahhhhing about getting it from Amazon Deutschland because I just love special editions and at 200 quid I just want it

Sorry, being my usual confrontational grouchy self without meaning to be. Maybe because I work quite long hours myself and am at work right now actually so I'd just ask what this mystical holiday period you speak of is

You really wouldn't need a week to set up a new console and transfer your data from the old machine, in fact I'd have thought most Xbone owners have all their data on an external hard drive anyway so there's nothing to transfer at all.

Anyway getting back to whether to buy or not to buy from my own personal perspective, I am unbelievably tempted by this machine because it is just really cool I must tell myself this will not go in our bedroom otherwise she will do unmentionable things to me which could quite easily put me 6 foot under
my brothers away on hols with my parents, this would be an amazing present for him. We've got a 1TB elite, is there any diff in game load speeds between the one S + the elite? Just about the only thing I care about.

What, they did this Minecraft edition with a 500GB plate, where did you get it from?

As far as I knew it was only available in 1TB models

Speaking of which it is still sat at €227 including delivery on Amazon Deutschland so my Select card is saying "go on, only 200 quid with me" whilst Mrs Loyal will be saying "here's your bags, good bye" if I do
