Yeah but it's out of stock everywhere

Good strategy by the retailers to be fair, drop the prices a few times over the 2 weeks before Black Friday.

Drop the prices even lower on Black Friday so people say "wow that's an awesome price" only to find that next to no one can actually purchase at the actual Black Friday prices.

Not just on this item either.

Pmsl tbh.

Nobody mentioned the PS4.

I was simply pointing out that if you want a 4k BR player, it's not the perfect solution, yet.

No you are Not, your better off getting an Xbox one S if you want to wait until the price of this goes down next year.

All the games from the Xbox one S will also work on Xbox1X as will the controllers and headsets.
Games from the Xbox S including backward compatible ones will work on the Xbox1X and in most cases will look and run much better.
Multi Format titles which you buy for the S will work on the Xbox1X and look and run better than any other Console
Only Xbox Console's have an Ultra HD Blu-ray player built in.

EA Access, game pass , Xbox live memberships on the Xbox S will cross straight over to the Xbox1X.

Yes. What's wrong with that? Do you really need a separate blu ray player?

Yes of course it's part of the reason, if you can get an Ultra HD Blu-ray player built into the most powerful Console and all in one very small and quite case it makes perfect sense.

Do you think Sony and MS add films, TV and music to their Console's stores because they make a loss ?, And all the other apps.

Is this not the standard price on Amazon for the basic console? Don't see any price reduction

Are the movies on store Blu-ray? I don't agree. A gaming console is for gaming. And to pay over £400 for it because you can watch movies on it does not make sense in my book.

This is much better hardware and comes way closer to delivering on real 4k gaming, though.

If you mainly play multiplatform games, I think this is the console to have for enthusiasts.

That's a fair point, but how many Blu-ray movies do you own? I watch movies on other devices, no need to have the console on unless it's for gaming, but that's my opinion.

Strange attitude. Having a DVD player in a machine that also doubles as a gaming machine was a big selling point for Playstation 1. Then again for Bluray player in the PS3.

Many people use their consoles as media machines, not pure gaming and gaming-only systems. And if you've got a 4K TV and want some good 4k content, getting something that delivers both 4k Bluray, 4k Netflix and 4k gaming is a pretty much the best way to do it. Obviously this is for enthusiasts who want to make the most of their 4k displays, so if you dont apply, you dont apply. But no need to tell other people their priorities 'does not make sense', cuz they definitely do. They just have different priorities than you.

I own about 100 Blu-ray movies/TV series. My Sky TV box is passed through my Xbox, and we watch Plex/Netflix/YouTube etc. on the Xbox. Very convenient having one device that you can access all your media on without having to switch HDMI input and find different remotes.

Xbox One X has a built in UHD player so if you have 4K blu-rays and you like gaming then it covers both of those. Of course so does the One S but you don't get the 4K/HDR gaming with that. PS4 Pro does 4K gaming (kind of) but no UHD player. So if you want all of it you're cheapest option is probably the One X.

Honest opinion please.....

I have the original Xbox One; 500gb. I want the new Xbox X just because its the latest and greatest and I would like to upgrade my older clunky box to something more modern. Of course with that upgrade I'm then up to date with the latest console, a better console in general. Blu Ray I'm not bothered about at this point, that will all come in time.....

So the main question (and it might be the same for most) is at what point do you upgrade?
At the moment its new, its a LOT of money, so when does anyone believe this will drop down in price, and what would be considered as a far price for this system?

Thanks

It's not attitude, it's just my opinion. I don't use my console for anything other than gaming so it doesn't make sense to me.

I haven't bought the X, way too overpriced for what it offers, and again that my opinion, I'm not the saying you should actually do what I say, and I didn't say anyone has their priorities mixed up or whatever you say.

Priorities in life are not to waste time arguing, but to spend it doing what 'normal' people do. Which seems to be watching movies on consoles and buying off road cars to drive through London.

Doesn't make sense *for* you. If you honestly are incapable of understanding or appreciating different opinions than your own, then something is very wrong.

And your last little comment is really just condescending.
Edited by: "Seanspeed" 24th Nov

It's absolute common sense that someone considers the player a console offers.

Why someone would use "other devices" to watch movies when they already have a player in their console is odd to me.

Consoles are also media centres these days in any case.

It's a system for enthusiasts, particularly those with 4k displays. There's still nice benefits for 1080p users as the image will be downsampled and so will basically have *really* good anti-aliasing, plus the performance and load time benefits, but 4k users are the main target as they'll really get the max from this system.

If you're just an average gamer, you're probably not going to appreciate the upgrades offered here nearly as much.

The price is already 'fair' as it is, especially with this discount. As for what it's worth to you, that's obviously for you to decide. Like any system, it'll go down in price eventually, but there's nothing 'overpriced' about this right now. It's packing a whole lot of power in an extremely impressive and well designed form factor, plus Microsoft have gone above and beyond in terms of features and support. It makes the PS4 Pro seem downright half-assed in comparison.

Do some more research about it and decide for yourself. These are not questions anybody can answer for you.

Just got JL to price match this for me, just FYI

Edit: just to clarify, I hadn’t to price match against the GAME pricing (which is the same) because they don’t against online-only stores
