You don't mention the retailer and the link is £61.16 so you might want to update your post

Hi
Thanks for posting. And welcome to HUKD. The link you gave was for Amazon so I have amended the price. For the sake of £1.17 I would say Amazon is the better deal

As mentioned by Jassco it is good practice to also add the merchant and price to the title. It helps people who are just browsing through. And in my experience your post will get a few more “hot” votes.

Emmajk42 / Juliet_Bravo wrote a couple of very comprehensive and excellent guides for newcomers to HUKD here: -

They are well worth taking a look at.

Again, thanks for posting, and welcome to HUKD.
Kind regards
Gari

Nice price may have to invest in this sooner or later.

I recently purchased one from deal extreme and it works perfectly I only paid £31 for the 250gb version but they are out of stock at the moment so I will link this for now, its for the 120gb version

You could be banned from live though as its not official equipment?

Why dont you all just get a 250gb older model HDD, break it open and use the HDD from that, it slots in perfectly and itll cost about £25/£15 less, and if you MUST have a case for it like this does go get one for £5 somewhere, either way you'd save between £10/£25

DO NOT SPEND THIS MUCH MONEY!!!!

its such a waste just use a 2.5 hdd form scan or whoever far cheaper!!

Ok but i've heard it has to be formatted by something or the other and a box standard hard drive won't do the job...is this correct?

Hot, I paid £63 last week, d'oh.

This is a genuine xbox item, I'd much rather use a genuine item than risking voiding the guarantee if anything went wrong.

It's only a few quid more, so no big deal really, save the money on beer or cakes or something less important!

Which requires flashing cloned firmware onto specific Western Digital drives, or else risk being banned instantly from XBL.

Not a problem on the PS3 mind, that thing can accept any regular-sized laptop drive

I made my own 120gb when that was the biggest drive and never had any problems. Never heard of anyone getting banned for making their own.

Microsoft will not ban you for using an unofficial Hard Drive. They have said it in the past.

Many people seem to confuse it with the statement they released a while back about disabling unofficial storage devices. This specifically related to the Datel Max Storage device.

I have been running an unofficial hard drive for over 2 years. 120GB & 250GB, both since on or before their official release date.

Anyone that says that you will be banned for using an unofficial (HDDHackR) HDD simply doesn't know what they're talking about.
I've been a 360 user for over 5years & followed the scene every step of the way.

No they wont because its recongnised as an offical microsoft product

i it the same what I saw in Best Buy for GBP 60?

£61 are you all mad the price difference between the 4gb and 250gb these days is less than this.
plus using any hard drive from an xbox 360 will work, usually people have upgraded so can use there old one free.sorry but voting cold complete rip off

just ring up blockbuster get a 2nd hand 250gb genuine one. for £40

Not through amazon direct though? Only through 'gadget gear' which might be one from hong kong?

If anyone does go for this prepare for a long wait, DX aren't the quickest by anymeans, I ordered my 250Gb version from DX (Approx £34) on 29th Dec and only today recieved an email confirming postage so it is still gonna be a week or two. A friend also had a 17 week wait for some cycle lights...

What do you do if once you have taken the hard drive out of it's casing (and voided the warranty) only to find the hard drive is faulty and you get the RROD and an E68 error code on your Xbox? It happened to me with the one I bought from Blockbuster.

Done it, thanks.

I bought the western digital BEV series 250GB hard drive. Connected it to my computer with a sata cable, run the hddhacker dos program and formatted the drive then installed all the necessary files etc, like an original. Would never buy a genuine product now I know its possible to make your own. Drive cost me £35
Heat added though as its £70 in my local granier games

Well the chance of that happening on a brand new HDD is very slim, even on a second hand one its not that likely, but hey its your choice, im just giving advice, people can chose whether they wish to take it or not.

P.s Ouch with that whole blockbuster incident oO

whats the difference between black and grey old 250gb hard drives.. can both be used in the new slims ?

Best option to go with a WD?

Was going to swap my new 250GB (from XBOX slim) into casing of 120GB (official older XBOX 360). But can't dismantle the new plastic casing, and I guess it would be obvious if MS checked my system as there was never a 120GB available for the slim

The price of this have changed daily.
I ordered it yesterday for £60.14 then checked this morning it is £57.37. Since my order had not been dispatched yet, I called them and they honored the lower price.

now £55.99

beth3735

Thats not from Amazon. It's better to buy from amazon as they are official resellers so you won't have a problem with warranty.
