If you have a 60GB HDD and upgrade to higher HDD how's a 16GB drive gonna help?

Yes, you can and you should. In fact you can use a 512MB and just copy you saves as everything else can be re-downloaded by doing a profile recovery or getting them individually.
Use a USB stick. This is a waste of money!!!

Profile Recovery does not re-download your stuff. And getting them individually takes hours upon hours as "download history" is a rubbish list that has all the stuff you've ever downloaded (demos/trials/videos etc.) mixed in with the premium paid for stuff. Imagine how long that takes for 60GB/100GB worth of content (No to mention if you have any kind of monthly download allowance or poor internet speed). £8 can save a hell of a lot of time and pain.

this used to be free, and ok, prior to being able to use usb memory, maybe it was a good deal, and i expect useful for some (the coldness will show how few) , however now really don't think this is necessary...

Has anyone actually tried to use a USB drive?? I tried last night and you have to copy every single file 1 by 1, you can't just copy all, which for me with about 40gigs worth of a files would take hours and hours. Without this transfer kit, its virtually impossible to transfer vast quantites of data, if you've only got a few save games however, it is easier to use USB drive
If you buy an official hard drive to replace the one you have got it comes with a transfer cable in the pack.
I have one of these and am not a big fan of it, it's much less hassle to save your profile and save files on a USB stick and just redownload the XBLA content, as data transfer over USB 2.0 is slow and tedious.

Should be allot better in a few weeks time if the cloud saving feature is included in the next dashboard update.
2.19 from ebay should do the same job
The one on ebay you probably have to connect with a computer, the one from Argos is probably hard drive to hard drive. You don't need to use a PC. I got the MS xbox one it transfers hard drive to hard drive in minutes.
also worth noting that this does not work with the Xbox 360 s hard drive.
you can transfer from an old 360 to new, but not from a new style 360.
for example if you were putting a new 250gb drive in a 360 S.
has anybody who has one of these ever got it to work properly?
People with banned 360 consoles might want to consider one of these, as you can use it to connect your hard drive to your PC and inject title updates for your games.

Don't Microsoft give these away for free? They did when I upgraded from 20gb to 60gb, but that was about 2 years ago - perhaps they've stopped now. I just had to fill in an online form giving them unit reference codes for my old drive and my new one.
Sold the transfer cable on ebay for a few quid after I'd used it, too, which was a nice little bonus

I had the same thing when I recently upgraded to my slim. I ended up just copying/moving a handful of things. TBH the others can be easily re-downloaded (or transfered over) at a later date if I ever want them.
Was intrigued to see some things could be copied (rather than moved), so we've now got them on both consoles despite only paying once. (eg CoD BlOps map packs.)

Not voted either way, as I'm not sure if you can still get them for free and I'm not sure that there's much use for them since USB transfers were made possible.
THESE SUCK ASS. They didn't transfer my game saves or games installed to hard drive.

The ONLY thing they did transfer was my downloaded content, WHICH I COULD JUST RE DOWNLOAD ANYWAY.

I lost my Oblivion saves. :'( **** these things

In case anyone is wondering - this will NOT transfer data from an old Xbox hard drive to the SLIM hard drive.
I've still got mine, if anyone wants it they can have it for free, if they come round and get it (Castlefield, Central Manchester)
can someone advise me how to hook up my pc to xbox and have the xbox shown as an external hard drive on windows??
I dont understand. The link doesnt work for me...
And I cant find it on the site either.

OR sign up for the new dashboard trial. Save everything on to the Xbox Live Cloud and redownload on the other console.

Looks like it may be OOS.
You'll be able to transfer saves, profiles etc to the cloud once the new dashboard goes live...

Do you know of any way at all to do this?
Whats the best deal on an Xbox hard drive at the moment. I've got the old style 20gb one & it's used up with downloads. Sick of having to delete something every time I download anything
If you're happy with 2nd hand, go with CEX, Keith. £25 for 120gb?
Can you use this cable to copy music onto you XBOX HDD? It would save me having to stream from my PC all the time!

You need this to do that

My old FAT 360 has just died on me and I need one of these to hook up to the old hard drive and transfer the Mass Effect 2 save to a new slim for ME3. Don't want to lose that MS2 save since all my characters survived!!!

I used one of these to transfer all my stuff over from a old to a slim and it worked a treat don't know why any one would had problems unless they copied across the wrong drive which is possible if you connect it wrong
Just use a USB stick then reinstall your DLC, easy! There's tons of tutorials online. Obviously if you have vast amounts of DLC this might be convenient but otherwise don't waste the cash.
If you phone microsoft and give them your boxs serial number and another boxs serial you get the transfer kit for free unfortunly for me i tried using another data transfer kit for £30 and lost all my game saves but it transfered the downloads ok
I used an external hard drive to transfer everything over from old to new Xbox...items like this aren't really necessary if you have an external hard drive which many people do...

The comment about transferring files one by one is inaccurate (or possibly incompetent)...the software drivers basically take care of everything for you.

It's FATX, so good luck with that. All of the PC based utilities used with the fake transfer kits are buggy and unreliable. Of course, I use Samba myself but then I have a JTAG with a 2TB drive

All have to do is shove the slim drive in caddy from the fat consoles and that attach that to the transfer kit, it's not rocket science and the torx screwdriver needed to open the caddy is in the Poundshop. There's no point in putting a new 250GB drive in a slim either, 320GB are the same price and faster as the 250GB drives are from a few years ago.

Get the 320GB Scorpio Blue dabs.com/pro…200 which is £33 and replace the the 20GB drive already in the XBOX 360 caddy. The 120GB drives from Cex could be 4-5 years old and they will be black, which probably won't match your console.

Will there be any problems using a new 250gb slim hd with a old fat xbox if you have the right sata connector ?

Link to the transfer kit on Argos argos.co.uk/sta…htm as the OP hasn't linked to it.
