So I can't connect an Xbox controller to my pc without this adapter?
USB or Bluetooth. However this has advantages over Bluetooth. This is lower latency, it allows you to use the audio socket on the controller. You can also connect up to 8 XBox wireless devices including XBox headsets.

I remember getting 2 of these for £45 each back in q4 2021. Price has been high for a some time. Good deal OP (edited)
CEX still sell the normal Series controllers for £60 used, I'm guessing they just don't watch the price trends, or know people will come to buy anyway.

This is a better system than Bluetooth if you do a fair bit of gaming on PC (BT's fine for casual use or for a phone) but like all dongles dont work well at the rear of a PC. A simple USB extension works great and then there's no dropped connections.

Great timing! I needed a new Bluetooth controller and I have an elite 1 without wireless, I now have 3 controllers! Thanks OP

I have one of these adapters and they periodically drop out, you lose connection for a couple of seconds before it re-establishes a link and carrys on working. Lost count of how many times it's got me killed.

I'd suggest it's prone to interface.
I used to have issues when it was hooked up behind the PC. I lifted to up to desk height and since had no issues. Used the Steam controller adapter to sit it nicely. (edited)

Perfect I was kicking myself for not getting from Amazon a while ago. Thanks!

Bought one of these to big screen game away from PC. Be warned, the range isn’t great. You end up using an extension cable which kinda defeats the point. Now I wish I’d just run the extension the same time as I did the long HDMI run. Lesson learnt…
    How far away is away?

Alternatively, if you don't want to use the wireless adapter (or you've already got one):

CEX are currently offering 16 cash, 23 trade in these (make sure they know it's the V2)

Why are the adapters so expensive?! £21.99 RRP and £11.99 for this deal. Outrageous

I was looking last night at this too. Argos seemed to be sold out of the adapters (tried multiple postcodes) and the estimated delivery date for the controller and adapter set from Microsoft was 26th October; Amazon delivery was by 10th.
