Care to share what the 'usual address trick' is?

Amazing deal.

You'd need to change your Amazon address to a US one to make the purchase. As this just comes as a key for activation, that doesn't stop you from receiving it.

Excellent price for all of this! I'd buy it if I didn't already have all of the older games on Steam, plus Enemy Unknown on PS3.

Did you ever play Lazer Squad?

I wish they'd sync up their deals. It's all the same company, with digital downloads there's no reason for this. I don't really want the hassle of a fake address being setup but I'd of gone for this just to cherry pick out the best ones. Last time I played xcom was on the Amiga and it used to bog down and run so slow later on in the game, when a lot was going on. I imagine it'll fly now I remember it being a great game, so tense.

Does it hold up well today?

I had that on the Commodore 64! Now that really is going back. It's the same guy/girl/people that made xcom isn't it? I never played it on PC. I guess that was one of if not the first turn based strategy.

I believe the problem is with the publishers not Amazon, why they have issues over who can buy x in region y is beyond me. At least a fake address is easy to add to your Amazon account, no proxies required
Enemy Unknown is good, it really keeps true to the originals, just with newer graphics, etc.

Not sure about the older ones as I haven't played them since the Amiga/pre-3d PC days.

Never managed to find it (there was only 1 independent game shop by me, variety wasn't their 'thing' lol)

I do remember something similar called Sabre Team though.

I loved that game. I have flashbacks here of levels on a ship that were brutal

Yes Julian Gallop. There were a couple of earlier game called 'Rebel Star' which were also good. About 26 years ago not that long back ;o)

Great games.

You can get them on the spectrum emulator still worth a play.

Sterner Regnix and his droid bodyguards is a must play mission against a pal.

Fun with a rocket launcher.

If you use a state that doesnt have sales tax you avoid this dont you?

No idea.

Thanks for this - just purchased. I don't know why this deal has been expired

For those unsure, you can use a billing address in Alaska to avoid sales tax, whilst still happily using your UK based credit card. You get a steam code which redeems fine.

i bought Enemy unknown from Steam on Friday as part of their daily deal and immediately thought how similar it is to Laser Squad (Spectrum). Now it all makes sense that the same guy is responsible for both games!! Really great stuff!!

Chances are you'll be paying international bank fees on this one depending on the bank. I get charged £1.50 by Halifax everytime I purchase outside the UK unless I'm using PayPal which Amazon annoyingly doesn't support.

Graphically it's obviously very dated, but the tense gameplay and sheer depth is still there, and to be fair the latter is still impressive. Also, it is still brutally difficult. I can't imagine many people today sticking with it for very long if they play it for the first time. Fortunately the new version is actually very good; I played it when it came onto PS Plus and was very pleasantly surprised.

Heat. If you already own Enemy Unknown then get the rest of the games for £2.24 (74p individually) from Steam (ends at 6pm)

Bonus points for mentioning card charges too

co op bank doesn't charge.

brilliant deal for first and last games (still play first now and then). everything in between isnt worth a play anymore though.

Enemy Unknown was absolutely brilliant on the Amiga. As others have said I seem to remember it crashing as you got further on, can't remember what it was I'm sure it was more than just slow down.

Despite that, I'd still play it over & again even after it had crashed.

Don't want to play it now as I think it's a game best left to nostalgia.

COLD

This lot was on "Humble Bundle" a couple of weeks ago and could be had for $6 for the STEAM codes.
Not my type of game so I gave it a swerve.

Which Humble Bundle?

I don't recall any XCOM Humble Bundle, but my memory isnt great.

EDIT: I think you mean the 'X' series weekly deal, which is not XCOM. The X games are completely different genre/developer/publisher/etc. They do have X in the title though, so I can see your confusion.
Generally it is better to do some research or actually look at what games the deal is offering beforehand

Thanks for the link.......gawd bless America.

The DLC for Enemy Unknown is dirt cheap too if you have the base game and no DLC

*I always *click* to download later and have the keys just emailed to me...they appear within a few seconds. Copy and paste the key and then just go to Steam and activate a game.

Now $60!

its says " EXPIRED " on your listing, but the XCOM Collection is still on... (same link price: $9.99 - 6.66 pounds )
