Wished Argos would price it at £30 like they did for Xenoblade 2

My Collectors Edition arrived this morning anyway

That’s great, Waits for amazon price match . . .
Best way to play this is still via PC Dolphin project. 1080p+ at 60fps. For the rest, this definitve edition For switch will do but dont expect a big jump over Wii version.
I know digital isn’t for everyone but just in case shopto still have this digital for £39.85. Might help someone out.

And £42.85 physical delivered. So it’s cheaper to get it from there if you’re getting delivery.

This! Have some Amazon credit so it’d be ideal if they matched them!

At this price "I'm really feeling it", got the collectors addition arriving today though.

Great to be buying it a third time, hope I can complete it this time.
Nearly £44 for a remaster of a ten year old game. Only Nintendo are allowed to get away with that

Are all the gameplay improvements on your PC Dolphin project?
Eurogamer did a comparison (mostly between the Wii and Docked/Undocked Switch versions) HERE

Will have to google it as not going to link to the website....
As others were saying in this thread, this game is way over priced for the features you get on a suposed remaster.
Price should have been £25 or less imo.
considering the game is what, 10 years old at least, yeah..seems expensive. But so are all Nintendo games anyway...as they do not sell them cheaper overtime.

The only saving grace is the additional epilogue which I think clocks over 20 hours. The resolution docked and on handheld isn't the best!
I found XC2 a real struggle to enjoy. I got maybe 20 hours in and gave up. The voice acting was just so bad it put me off. Never did play this, how does it compare? It's a series I want to be able to enjoy!
If I have to pick between Zelda BOTW or this one, which one should I go for?

It's a lot better imo. Besides the new character models it has far less stereotypical anime moments and more likeable characters.
Any tips for getting my Switch off the wife? She's been glued to it since Animal Crossing was released

And yet Sony and MS do exactly the same.

Weird.

Yeah, they package games in sets of three or four - Sony bundled three Uncharted games which were easily available to order for £35 online at launch and so did MS with the Halo collection. They bundled FOUR games and one of them was a full on remake of Halo 2. All for under £40. You will never see Nintendo bundling a bunch of games together for that price. Never.

A lot of the assets have been remade with an entire new chapter. Resolution and fps isn't the be all and end all.

They have in the past with Mario and Metroid titles and both are meant to be having collections released on Switch this year.

That article is just PR talk with director praising the definitive edition and changes. What you want is actual data and pefromance reveiw which focuses on facts here.
Its actually a mixed bag of assets being remade with somes changes and other stuff just being left untouched so you get these weird contrasts.
Framerates, resolutions, draw distance, screen taring, anti aliasing, etc are absolutely conducive to an improved gameplay experience, unless your playing on 32" inch tv. The larger your screen, the more apparent the problems.

The game is an improvement over the Wii version, but i agree with those who argue this could have been so much better...

I mean no one is arguing that this game couldn't have been better, they were working with a fairly small team after all. But if we're talking about weird contrasts then playing a game intended for the Wii at 4k+ resolution gives you impressive environments with those horrible facial textures. Your own article goes over all the improvements - shadow maps, improved lighting, improved face detail, normal maps, revamped UI, remastered soundtrack, among the other remade assets. The additional expansion on its own makes this the definitive edition over the original on a gaming PC. If someone has the option of both then I really don't see why they would choose the PC version over this. If they don't intend to get a switch though then fair enough.

Its not my article. Its by Digitalfoundry who are often referenced globally for their perfomance reviews on various products.
Many like myself are dissappointed because we would take peformance over extras. So 1440p or higher at 60fps is preferred over
lower and variable qulaity and addiontal content.
The flaws in the definitive addition would be an easier pill to swallow if its was retailing for £20-25. Otherwise this is overpriced imo which was what i was originally saying in my first comment.

So they should of done a Final Fantasy 7 and only made 15% of the game in glorious hd and charged full price?

If you were disappointed by this because it wasn't 1440p/60fps then your expectations of what can be achieved by a device like the switch is nothing close to realistic. The expansion is a 12 hour game, other similar games would sell that for £20/25 alone. This isn't overpriced, it's just your unrealistic expectations again.

Less about what the switch is capable and more about what the development team focused on. Xenoblade chronicles 2 did much better job and with same hardware.
More could have been clearly done with the definitive edition but wasnt. My expectations were not unrealistic and the 1440p example I gave was just general example of my preference for performance over Content. Who cares if you have more chapters where overall experience is marred by other factors like quality control.

A quick Google says they aren't all bundles.

No, you won't. And I have no issue with that, because when I buy a nintendo game, I can sell it on for almost what I paid for it.

I'm not saying nintendo is perfect, they ain't, however it's always been a premium product, in terms of cost. The recent online sales have been a real change for them.

However, gamers know that and either buy in or they don't.

How is my example arbitrary? They are both rereleases of JRPG in 2020. One is updated just how you wanted, but with only a fraction of the content.
I used to think ‘wow that’s a bit pricey’ when it comes to Nintendo but their games do tend to hold their value. Once you’ve played the game you can easily sell it on and make most of your money back (sometimes even more - I sold a 12 year old DS game for £50 last year).

I didn’t get the chance to play this on the Wii and I remember copies selling for silly prices back then so I’m really looking forward to finally playing it
