Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii an eshop download for Wii U £17.99 @ Nintendo
O yes this has just arrived unexpectedly on the Wii U eshop for £17.99 for those of you not aware this game sells for way more to obtain a physical copy and is easily one of the best games of its type and best games on the Wii .
Also If you pick it up for the usual Wii download price of €19.99 / £17.99, you're eligible to receive £9 off the eShop version of Xenoblade Chronicles X when it launches in December, too.
You can use your Wii U gamepad as a controller and for Off TV Play, just like any other Wii U game with the absence of touchscreen controls.

Na, you can use the gamepad
Same thing happened to marvel vs capcom few years ago was a limited print and going for ridiculous money and then digital version released and overnight they lost substantial value!
It may have to wait until I clear out the backlog a bit though.....
The same with PS4 and Xbone to be fair! Pitiful choice of games for next gen really, although alot announced for the future. At least with Nintendo the handful of games that are out are stellar!
i enjoyed ni no kuni more, but this was really good
you can wii games on the gamepad screen? you're right it will, gamepad is 480p i think? same as wii with component cables
No, Nintendo hadn't mooted this release before.
Re: eBay prices, it is possible to get a physical copy more cheaply but you do have to shop around. I bought mine for £28 a couple of years ago and a friend recently picked one for £30. As I say, you do have to shop around and this eShop is a darn sight cheaper and easier but I'm doubtful how many people were willing to stump up the kind of prices that most sellers were wanting - on auctions, the final price was invariably lower.
Not all Wii games, just downloadable ones which were classic controller-compatible, so this game and a few others.
awesome didnt know that, i still own the original which i've ripped to my computer and can play on dolphin in 1440p so this isnt for me but good for people wanting a copy cheaper than ebay prices
Not really. Physical >>>>> digital copy, so it's not really a loss. A physical reprint would be a loss.
At least this way more people can play the game.
Tempting though, and heated as it is a great price for a quality game like this.
You can use the gamepad like any other Wii U game aside from lack of touch controls. So you can control it and play on your TV or on the gamepad screen.
Not to mention the HUGE amount of space it will take up if the Japanese one is anything to by.
Ah that's good, I've only bought Galaxy 2 and Prime Trilogy and I don't think either ever supported a non wii remote option so I hadn't tried, thanks!
True, still holding off on getting a PS4 or Xbox1 here.
Nintendo and Monolith Soft’s Xenoblade Chronicles may ultimately have been highly successful, but it also had a very limited audience that it was selling to. A lot of this has to do with the fact that it got a very limited release on the Wii in 2011-12, when software sales for the system had all but died down; the re-release on Nintendo 3DS that ultimately came earlier this year was only for the New Nintendo 3DS systems, which also automatically limited its audience.
But now the game gets another crack at reaching out to a wide audience- it will be coming to the Nintendo eShop on Wii U in Europe, launching for £17.99. Since the game was also compatible with Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro on the Wii, you can play it using the Wii U Gamepad, without having to tether up a Wiimote and Nunchuk to the system.
That’s not all, either-
Those who purchase this game will be eligible for a £9.00 GBP discount on Xenoblade Chronicles X if they buy it on Nintendo eShop within two weeks of the game’s launch in December.
Take a deep breath, Monolith Soft fans, as today has exciting news in Europe. Following up on previous news that Xenoblade Chronicles X will be playable at Gamescom in Germany, now more exciting news has been revealed.
First of all, it's been confirmed that there'll be a Wii U hardware bundle and special edition in Europe; these are detailed below.
Xenoblade Chronicles X Wii U Premium Pack: features a black premium Wii U console, a physical copy of the game, an Artbook and a World Map poster
Xenoblade Chronicles X Limited Edition Pack: features a physical copy of the game, a SteelBook™ cover, a World Map poster, a Cover Art Poster and the Artbook
