One of AMD's new revision GPU's

The released an R9 290X which is way to pricey for the similar performance you get from the R9 290.

You can also flash the bios to the R9 290X if you are confident and you know what you are doing. This allows you to overclock your GPU

Disclaimer : I'm not responsible if you damage your R9 290 trying to do this.

Here is a link to the guide on how to do it:

forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho…408

You can get 2.1% cash back from Topcashback.

[Edit] : as powerbrick mentioned in the comments, you can only flash the first batches of the R9 290.

[Edit] : Even though you cannot flash later versions I still feel as if its a great deal for the GPU, comparing price/performance.

your comments re overclocking may not be correct, for starters, this card is an xfx, not an asus as in your post!

You can also flash the bios to the R9 290X

NO you can't, only the first couple of batches of R290's would allow this since they already were 290X's but Bios locked as a 290 (due to the 290 being in short supply when launched)

Thanks powerbrick, I didn't know that the first batches where the only ones you could flash.
Unless you're planning on watercooling/third party air cooling/etc or you're not a stickler for quite then you'd be better off spending the extra £30-£50 for a non reference cooler 290(the msi gaming edition was £335 at scan recently).

Say what?
You can overclock without needing to flash the bios, think you're getting confused with unlocking the 290 to 290x(tho as already mentioned that is unlikely now).

Excuse my wording, If you flash the 290, it gives you greater headroom for overclocking. I know the 290 already overclocks, but for those who want to go extreme overclocking then flashing may be an option. In addition, your right on getting an aftermarket cooler water block if you want to spend extra
What about the postal charge?
Fold on this....Get the Gigabyte 290 Windforce OC for £30 plus Battlefield 4 (you have to wait, but will be worth it over this)....NOT a good deal
