Long time lurker, turned poster now! Just been browsing Overclockers UK and found this amazing deal on their website for an XFX 4870 1GB.

Got some good reviews and I have a Palit version of the card which I bought for £195 a couple of months back, and it eats any game alive, including Empire Total War on Ultra and Crysis on Ultra graphics settings - might need a decent Dual Core processor to go with though!

Anyway, hope this helps

Seems a good deal to me! I expect there will be more like this and maybe lower as the new range gets released

Oh really? When are the new batch being released, and what sort of specs are they boasting?

Does this include delivery? It's the same price at Novatech (with free delivery) who have a much better reputation than Overclockers (though it is out of stock at the moment - it says more due on 6th March).

Nope. Only free delivery for OCuk forum members with over 250posts + certain period of registration as well.

Finally the price drops are filtering through, america had $50 taken off the 4870 so nice to see it over her :). 4850 had a good discount to but cant remember how much, think its around £90(probably £100),.

Just checked the new card's specs out, and perhaps you'd be better off getting one of these and sticking a Thermalright HR-03 GT on it or something, as it significantly reduces the heat off it, hence rendering the next batch of cards slightly useless (as the only real difference is going from 55nm to 40nm). Check out the temps with it on and off hardwarecanucks.com/for…tml

I'm only thinking out loud here, but it's always a possibility...

Just so you are aware what price cuts are in the pipeline: dailytech.com/Rad…htm

Hi Zad,

Would it be down in UK also?

No guarantees, but in the past the price cuts have usually been fairly quick in coming over here.
