Eh, low end, not mid range.

Yes low range, 5750 are possibly mid range but this is certainly low end. Not a bad price tho.

if it had passive cooling then it would be hot

Worth replacing a X1950Pro for for the Dx11 and the ram?
Edit: Hang on, reviews say the ram is meant to be DDR5, is it cheap because the ram is DDR2?

Haha, true. Not really sure if you are joking or not...

I think you guys are mistaking this 5570 for a 5770.

Not hot at all..

Aren't 5770s over £100? 5570s seem to be around £60 so it's still a saving.

Low profile would be nice at that price, especially as the 5570 is aimed at the HTPC market, and most HTPC's are small form factor.
If you want a card for gaming, there are better cards for the money (and DX11 isn't worth it on a card that performs as badly in games as this does). But for a HTPC, with a little light gaming on the side, these are perfect (I have a LP 5570).

As far as I know, 5570's come with either GDDR2, 3 or 5 . And yes, this is a little cheaper due to it being only GDDR2 (and the other reason is that it's not low profile, so probably hasn't sold well).
In any case, your X1950Pro will still be a better performer for gaming, even without DX11.

Considering they are at least £60 everywhere else this makes it hot, yes?

not bad for price, however spend £100 and get the 5770 which would be lower mid range, the 5850 is a mid range , making the 5870 upper mid, and 5970 to be high end

Categories subjectively defined by yourself no doubt.

5770 - low mid range? you must be one dumb ****

Replying to normal conversations with insults, I dont think anyone else is the dumb **** really. And 5770 is low mid range. Top end would be 5970 or Crossfire 5870 or SLI GTX 480. Single card its still mid range - bordering on lower end.

I think these definition of low / mid / high end are so subjective.

If a £100 card is low-mid and a £50 card low-end, then what about a £20 £20 ?

Does it simply not count and doesn't exist?

Most will agree the £300 is high end but between that, I think we need a bit of tolerance.

Personally I rate it on performance, and in the grand scale of things, no £20 cards dont really count as they are most likely unable to run anything other than Windows. The bottom end would be something that just plays the latest stuff, the top end would be the maximum FPS / Performance you can get in a system, i.e. quadfire / tri-sli etc, anything that doesnt run the latest stufff, such as £20 cards are either out of date or not meant to run anything really, therefore have no place in the halls of fame :-)

Microdirect are doing the DDR3 1GB version for £47.99, now that is a bargain considering a 5570 ddr3 is close to or over £60 elsewhere. I will be buying one as I'm upgrading from an old basic one anyway.

I don't do games but will use it to watch HD online (not full HD I know) and from dvd so I'd call it a hot deal for me.
