Bargain in my books.... even for the card without the games this would be a good deal.

Though personally I would still buy a ATI HD 4870 1GB for the same price.

Still hot though.

I Recently bought a 4870 1 gig which had to go back as I had issues with the drivers using a Dell 24" > HDMI > 1920/[email protected] is the reason I opted for the Nvidia product as I have got a 8800gts now which has been faultless. I really wanted to give ATI a chance but it didn't work for me.

I was planning to get a 4870 1gb & also have the Dell 24" 1920/1080.

What was the problem you had with the drivers - did they just not support 1920/1080?

May be time for me to have a rethink...................................

(using a 8800GT at the moment).

When I set the desktop to 1920/[email protected] I had to overscan the screen so it fitted plus the screen was no where near as clear as the nvidia card.

Crysis Warhead would not start in the resolution, a window appeared stating the following:
The current input timing is not supported by the monitor display. Please change your input timing to [email protected]

That is what the monitor was set at.

Necrovision would only play at max in [email protected] This made the screen smaller again.

Too many problems for me when I reinstalled my Leadtek 8800gts 640mbs everything was ok again.

I would recommend the dell monitor

( accessories.euro.dell.com/sna…695 )

it really is tops, as far as the ati card >well>thats why I bought the XFX GeForce GTX260 XT...

Many people swear by the ati card but it didn't work for me with my setup. I am using a Enermax 620watt PSU so I know this is not an issue.

Cheers

I already have the Dell 24" Monitor & agree its a cracker.

Looks as though my plan to buy the 4870 will indeed have to be changed.

Whats the performance of the new card compared to your 8800gts?

Original Poster

I only ordered it today when I get it I will let you know.

But I hope it will blow the 8800 away

Ally44 I had a google of the problem you had & found this possible solution.

Was this something you tried with the 4870?

Hi, I tried all those settings and it made no difference to me and to be honest I dont think I would have been happy with that setup. With the nvidia cards you dont have to mess about, at the end of the day Tomb it depends if you really want an Ati or an Nvidia. I think nvidia cards are more stable and the drivers are better.

As I stated earlier I just wanted to give ATI a chance...........Here is the ATI card used:

£60 more expensive aswell..

Its a shame because I was really hoping it would have been the business

TBH there are many people who have the HD4870 and have no problems. Regarding drivers I have used a combination of both Nvidia cards and ATI cards over the last couple of years and never had any major problems under both Vista and XP.

If anyone has any questions it would be better to ask on a large forum like Hexus as there are many users of both the GTX series and HD4*** series cards there!!

£195.61 included vat + delivery + 2 games you could sell the 2 games for £30 on ebay! so in reality your looking at £165.61 for the black edtion top spec 260 card delivered which i think is very good!! well say £3.50 recorded delivery to post the 2 games you sell so in theory you have just payed £169.11p for the black edtion delivered which is a better bargin HOT! yeah you can overclock this 1 on here but that would just mess up the warranty, so why not have a black edtion offcially overclocked with valid warranty, its a bargin . . .

Also maybe if you got a business card + account you can knock of the V.A.T
