This is a bargain price isn't it ? So these 5850s are slightly better than a GTX 460 so i understand or not in real life tests ?

+£6 for delivery

A quick look tells me the GTX 460 can do 90% of what these HD 5850s can do so if you check the following here:

hotukdeals.com/dea…696

Then i think the GTX 460 still has a slim but still real cost performance advantage over the HD 5850. Or are my maths that bad nowadays

I've gone off ATI due to the lack of PhysX.

Get a 470, £40 more and they can be overclocked to the level of a 480 on air. It's the best bang for buck.

It would be more realistic to compare an XFX brand 460 with this as the SONIC PALIT is an excellent budget brand for cards. Although still under the price it would work out to be about 90%, so it's inline if it gives 90% of the performance in-relation to the cost. So they are priced appropriately.

ATI of course can do infinity displays. Not sure on the wattage needed although, ATI's tend to be lower but not sure about the new 460's maybe someone can respond.

The HD cards from ATI, also have the ability to produce sound on board. Great when linking to a Plasma TV. I believe that Nvidia cards need an input from the sound card? Or have they implemented on board sound also?
Heat added.

Just buy a overclocked GTX 460 for £134 (+delivery) and save your money!

get one on flee8ay asus tops overclocked

There is also a graded one (literally) at videocardshop for £129.99 inc VAT. Now that IS appropriate.

Nvidia sorted that blunder on the GTX 4xx series, I believe.

yeh great deal, however I have sold my 5850 (which is an awesome card for this money) and going to grab a 6970 next month!
But heat added great card especially good value for a crossfire setup

Don't know if it's changed but used to be that ATI's GPUs have integrated soundcard (my 4850 only outputs in digital stereo through HDMI though (not surround) )
Nidia needed SPDIF plugged in from mobo/sound card into GPU to output sound down HDMI (don't know if it's in surround tho)

I have a large group of people complaining here, so why don't we report to watchdog or seek for help from consumerdirect.gov.uk/
Not sure if we are protected by consumer's law in this situation.
