My son has a Red Devil rx480 8gb currently which he’s convinced is playing up. Is this an equivalent card or is he better off with something else around this price? Sorry bit out of touch with the specs these days

Might be temps?

I had an rx 470 and gotm uch better performance undervolting it which reduced temps and allowed boost to last longer.

Same with my vega 56

Appreciate not something easy for beginners to get into. But a few setting tweaks were great help to me

And this should be very similar in terms of performance.

An nvidia 1060 6gb is the equivalent or 1650

The 570 and the 1650 will be slower than the 480. The 1060 and 580 are the equivalent in speed, the 580 being slightly quicker than the 1060 these days on average. The 1650 is quite a bit slower.
For around £100 the RX570 above would be the best card, or else you will need to spend a bit more on an RX580. Nvidia don’t really come in to it until the GTX 1660 which should be around £180 with 6gb memory. The reduced memory size isn’t massively important from 6 to 8Gb. Nvidia seems to have a more “economic” texture compression which helps a bit with this.
If you look at current benchmarks on the 3gb 1060s they are really struggling without turning detail down. This will happen to the 4gb over the next period, so watch that if you find a 580 with 4gb, although this is still worth considering for the right price.
As said above, try and under volt your current card first. In the Amd driver (right click on desktop) under performance heading there will be options. Watch YouTube. You may even find an “auto undervolt” option (not sure if this option shows for RX580s as I don’t have one.
Wondering if I should buy this or save for a 1060 6gb
How many watts from PSU necessary to run it?
Do you expect this to drop further when RX5600 is out
