Great price for a 850w Semi modular PSU with 5 years warranty

After installing I noticed it to me much quieter that the Coolermaster.

I was getting random restarts and no booting at all sometimes with my Coolermaster , but now all is welll

Two of my friends have both used this PSU without a bad word for there power Hungary systems, My system much easier to feed as its not so bad on consumption loves this PSU ..

EVGA is more but a lot better with a similar power rating,, gold efficiency and well rated stability. If you register within 30 days, you get a 10 year warranty too...

I wouldn't say a lot better. EVGAs oem is superflower but xfxs is seasonic who are the highest rated in the industry.

Yes that looks a great deal also but above my budget , but for others who would be interested is it full/Semi Module or fully wired , Because I'm sure my friend has this and it was fully

Nice find btw

Good price. Heat added. However, if you're after full modular or a higher 80+ certification, scan have the CM V850 scan have for a few quid more at the moment - scan.co.uk/pro…210

Another great deal n1 , I have not had m,uch luck with either of my CM PSU in any of my PC`s , but just be my bad luck but they were a different series

Sold power supply. I have a couple of smaller XFX 550w PSU's running, one near 24/7 for four years and its never missed a beat. Agreed Seasonic is the best OEM you can get, Jap caps all the way and no nasty cost cutting.

depends even with XFX some aren't designed or made by seasonic. Heres a handy guide. these are Tier one though so says the guide.

I have an XFX 550w PSU. It is around 2 1/4 years old now but developed a tickity fan noise just after the first year. Would not be buying again for that reason. But as a PSU it has been great, shame about the fan

you only need this much wattage if your planning on xfire or sli

850W?

A lower power draws (which is likely to be 99% of the time), it's going to be increasingly inefficient......

I have this one had it for about 2 years great psu. Real quiet never had any issues with it would def recommend it.

Not really hexus.net/tec…e=2

The efficiency at 25% load is nearly exactly the same as 75%. Even at 10% load its only dropped 5.8% efficiency from 25% load.

Having just had a 6 month old power supply go bad on me, I realise that a guarantee is somewhat worthless as I'd have to send it back and to do so means having no PSU for a while.

Or, buying a new PSU in order to send the original faulty one back and then ending up with another superfluous one sometime later.

I have a spare generic 550 that would keep my system running with 1 gfx card and I could send my PSU back like I done with my old thermal take and got a refund

I'm sure you can get a better one than this for cheaper...

As far as I know, all current XFX PSUs are SeaSonic; the 'Tier 2' XFX Core series are based on the SeaSonic S12II design.

Yes you can pick up one pretty cheap to keep you going. THIS will be enough cover for most.

850W Cooler Master RS850 80PLUS Gold Full Modular PSU is £74.39 in Scans Today Only section atm. £9.58 delivery if you don't get free del though... stonking price if you do get it as the OEM is Seasonic.

They use Seasonic designs but not the same components. Infact, there's a considerable difference between what Seasonic produce overall.

That aside, the review says it all - jonnyguru.com/mod…377

It's one of the best Gold PSUs tested without buying the Seasonic branded PSUs and even then, the conclusion said it was way more money.

Jonnyguru only has the XFX 850w Black Edition reviewed, which is a better PSU than the one in the deal. The one in the deal is closely related to the 650W one reviewed on Jonny Guru, which can be found at jonnyguru.com/mod…181

Ultimately, it's the buyers decision but you will be buying better by going with my EVGA suggestion. Whether that difference is worth it is up to the individual but I felt it was enough to sway me and I'll be buying the EVGA 850W.

Thanks for all the input guys , been a interesting journey for sure.

This is a great price for a Seasonic OEM'ed PSU, but not all Seasonics are the same, some are stellar, some less so. As I understand it XFX XXX models are the modular variant of the well-rated XFX Core models. I use the Core 750 and Core 650 which have good voltage reg and low ripple and are great. One review shows this 850W unit with 2.4% to 3% voltage reg on the 3.3v and 5v lines, 850W review which is nothing special and worse regulation than the 650/750W models.750W review.
If you are OC'ing hard, it may be better to go for a more modern design (e.g. the EVGA/Superflower and Corsair/Seasonic KM3 platform above), but both are pricier - or just get the XFX Core or XXX 750w model.

Haven't checked, but the EVGA unit may be longer than usual psus, so check compatibility with cases. And check the cable lengths work for you - the top 4+4pin PSU mobo cable can be short in some full towers ...

Anyone looking for PSU with this much budget to spare. Stop looking, buy the V850 coolermaster unit. It's a VERY good PSU for the price. For about £1.40 more than this unit you are getting something that would be badged as a platinum from most other brands. Still seasonic based.
Edited by: "mercutio98uk" 26th Dec 2014

I have this PSU, as others have said PSU's by XFX are solid, I wouldn't buy anything else from them though. One thing I didn't realise is just how many cables there are before you even get to the optional ones, I didn't use any optional ones and still had leftovers. I'll probably go full modular next time...

Had 2 of these both broke in around a year exact same fault. it stops being able to turn pc on immediately and this gets worse until you can't turn on pc replaced with evga model from Amazon this week
