Well buying a secondhand Laptop off EBay , even the sheep are aware of the risk (or I would hope so). Sadly those same sheep probably don't even realise "Geekbuying" is a Chinese seller and the pitfalls involved .

I will continue to issue warnings, as will others , until HUKD puts warnings on all Chinese seller posts . They used to bar them , but money talks , now even the Mods and Editors are posting them

HUKD should be ashamed of putting referral fees before the interests of its not so savvy members .

Should avoid with standard shipping. I think they do this by sending it to Europe, and then from there to the UK, to avoid it?

I agree with @rogparki. Now that they can earn commission from Chinese sellers, HUKD have no issues accepting and even posting such deals. While this is tempting, you may be hit with VAT & import duties. I've actually been looking at this laptop, but the lack of warranty is worrying. Sending it to China at your own expense if something goes wrong does not sound great, does it?

Xiaomi need to get a European stockist for these laptops. I've wanted one for a few weeks now but can't run the risk of a massive import duty fee.

Check another website mate called LightInTheBox.com. They stock this too for similar price and you can buy insurance for $15 so if they charge you customs, you can get them paid back to you.

Xiaomi would have to offer European quality guarantees and service, which would push up the price of its offerings to European levels. Not that competitive when you can’t avoid VAT.

Things have certainly changed, I once had a deal from one of the biggest UK RC Model shops turned down because their company registration No: was not on there website, Being on eBay and Amazon and online means nothing, But being some backstreet Chines website, That's OK.

The NYSE is nearly as suspect as some of these Chinese sites.
