Xiaomi dafang 1080P Smart Monitor Camera- use code GBOCT1224 £15.28 @ GearBest

Found 22nd Oct
Its £20.62 But Use Coupon GBOCT1224 to bring down price to £15.28.also tracks topcashback of £0.75. i have used luxembourg delivery which is free and registered delivery to uk

"Video Resolution: 1080P
Frame Rate (FPS): 15FPS"

Obviously, the FPS makes this very limited, so what is this supposed to be used for? Baby monitor? Security Cam? What's the battery life? What functions does the app have?

Would be more useful if you provided more information as most normal people won't know what a 'Xiaomi Dafang' is supposed to be used for....

Does it cost £120 like the Logitech?

It's £15, worth a try. Chinese tat? Are most electrical items made in China?

Is this more GearPest cheap Chinese tat? Yes.

Xiaomi definitely does not make tat. With Hugo Barra more or less in charge of international strategy, they're on the road to significant market share capture from the big boys in Western markets over the coming years.

I have a couple of their phones and someone I know just received the xiaomi Air laptop they ordered last month; the quality of these devices is second to none. Now if course they need to support devices like these outside of china when they never intended them to be sold as such.

This deal has already been posted, ordered the other day, great price, cots double on banggood and xaomi make a better kind of cheap tat

Comments on HUKD are pretty dismissive of this camera for use in the UK....

Probably, I've ordered one recently.

Icurrently use another Xiaomi camera (static 720p) on the mi home app. It's got volume and a great picture.
Thenight vision is better that a Sricam I've had in the baby room.
There's also a mic facility on the app and a small speaker in the camera.

This one is a higher resolution and can be moved remotely.

I use mine along with a traditional baby monitor but it could be used as a stand alone if you had a tablet or phone ur not using through the evening/night.

Wouldn't be portable if ur away from home as it's on ur home network.

Setup is relatively painless. Just set the app for mainland China server in the settings.

Out of curiosity, how do you use as baby monitor?
Does it ping your phone when there's noise?or do you have to just watch with the app open all the time?

Some people have said these are not designed for UK and can have some issues with the android app. Is that the care?

I have a rule now never to use Gearbest for anything over a fiver. If it breaks, it's just bin fodder because you'll get no joy returning it.

Pity, because Xaiomi is usually good stuff.

Has anyone got this working with their NAS Drives, currently got a Foscam working well with my server running XPEnology, which enables to record all video and view a weeks worth of footage, would be good if this could be added to my network.

Hugo Barra left Xiaomi for Facebook in early 2017, but I agree with the sentiment of your post.

Its in China what do you expect, if there very cheap your taking the risk and fingers crossed its ok. Or just buy from Amazon fulfilled and keep your mind and wallet at peace.

I just have the app open and set the volume, sit the phone beside me while I watch TV .

There's a minimised window that can allow u to keep an eye while ur using the phone for other things.
U can drag the little window to a suitable place on ur screen.

U can also use 2 fingers to zoom in and out. On my lesser 720p camera the pic is really good when zooming in.

Like I said earlier, this one hasn't arrived yet so I can't guarantee specifics.
Most of the functions come through the mi home app so should be the same for all xiaomi cameras connected to it.

Hey so how that Luxembourg delivery works? I had that option but still choosed the standard delivery.. just didn't know what this is...

Hot . Can anyone recommend an outdoor, wireless camera to use over the front door? Ive looked but just not sure what to buy so any suggestions much appreciated, thanks

Took a chance on this and ordered, went with the Luxembourg registered option out of curiousity. Yet to be disappointed with a Xiaomi product.

Does this camera email you a picture of an intruder? Can’t see it in the description

I've returned something that was about ~£100 before and got the postage returned too because it was indeed faulty.

If it's anything like the foscam, you'll have to have the app open streaming it

All I care is this still blocked in UK? I would love to buy it but If same like xiaofang has blocked after upgrade then just another waste of money

They send a single bulk consignment to Luxembourg (or other country) where it is opened up and each indivual item then enters the postal supply chain. It will come via Royal Mail from Luxembourg. Track it once leaving Luxembourg like a standard Recorded Delivery parcel on Royal Mail website. My guess is is they wait for a week or two weeks of parcels to collate are large shipment. The gearbest dispatch is a mystery (don't for get to click that "Dispatch Faster" button - probably doesn't do anything, but not pressing it makes the dispatch seem even longer.

thanks for the post. ordered one

Xiaomi make alot of different stuff. Their phones and laptops are excellent but some/alot of their other stuff is a mixed bag.

This camera seems pretty buggy.....

Edited by: "Picard123" 22nd Oct

Anyone who have one of these explain how the app works in comparison to, say, Clever Dog cameras? I have lots of those and am really impressed as the app handles the camera's connection - as long as the camera is connected, it picks up all the motion detected images, streams videos from each camera and remotely sets them. If the Xiaomi cameras are well made and have similar features I'll get those next time.

Is this accessible remotely on the phone guys i.e. not on the same wifi network?

Xiaomi products are really brilliant.

Xiaomi = Quality guaranteed . Have a Xiaomi phone , laptop , earphones and battery charger . Buy with confidence .

Have no need for this, but am willing to pay £15 and live stream my house to China for this deal! Have a few Xiaomi gadgets (, and a normal ink pen). Seems good stuff so hope this will work well too! Cheers op

Made? Yes. Designed? No.

I have this and it's fantastic. Just make sure you have set it in the app as mainland China. The app it has lots of features with the best one being autotrack mode which tracks moving objects automatically. Night-time IR seems quite reasonable too. Not tested the recording functionality yet and the other downside slightly is some of the app in still not translated from Chinese. At this price bought another.

Whats the reasoning for setting it to Mainland China?

I've been down the route of buying one of the cheapest Chinese cameras out there- the digoocam bbm2. I've found it to be lacking in a few key areas IE motion detection has loads of false positives no matter what sensitivity you set.
Can anyone recommend a mid range camera which works well without issues?

Wish list:- secure from remote hacks, not streaming to China(!), reliable decent picture, upload to cloud, decent motion detection alerting

I'm a Xiaomi fan too. Have a few of their brand products and can't fault them for quality and durability. Ordered, thanks OP.
