thanks, ordered
i have one ,works fine, took a while to setup, but then it was unplugged and even when plugged back in, it came online, and says online,i can't connect to it
Light in a box £17.71 if your not a fan of Gearbest not sure if there a good company or not.

I have one of these it took a lot of setting up but it's the best camera I've got way better than the one with the gateway built in.

Bought 3 of them from zappals, and to be honest didnt have any issues with connecting to mi home app.
Start the app, point the qr code towards camera and presto.
Les than 2 minutes job.
And its awesome. Maybe not as quick to track movement, but really good quality stuff in my opinion.
I got one from a previous deal. As others have said, not that straightforward to set up, need to set location as China if I remember correctly. Once working it's been fine for several months no problem.
Decent value at this price.
I will go to my holiday abroad. I can view it from there???
Would these be any good as an alternative to a baby monitor?

Tried setting the app to China and ensuring a 2.4ghz wifi network. No joy.Does anyone know where I can find step by step instructions on how to get it working?Alternatively, I have one for sale in Nuneaton. £10 if you can collect.

Me too, me too, me too.
Spent hours watching videos and messing about, never got it working even with support from Gearbest.

Cool motion tracking. Just remember these were not designed as outdoor cams so not water proof or moisture proof but you could installed them under very sheltered areas like roof/ceiling eaves away from exposed areas. These will have ventilation vents & ports for micro sd card, usb, power & reset so could be susceptible to moisture.

I bought one and you get what you pay for.

The compressed video quality is pretty bad unless shooting in really good light. The setup is passable, the app was mostly in Chinese at first before updates, now only some is. There is no zoom for recording, only when you are monitoring on the same network. Details of distant objects/subjects are non existent. The voice control does not work in English.

I wouldn't trust it for decent security or as a baby cam, but you can stick it inside your home and have it email you when it detects something. You then go to the app and download the short clip(s) of whatever has triggered it. That is assuming someone hasn't turned off your electrics, your router or cut your fibre optic or phone line.

It is okay for making crappy resolution time-lapse videos. It could be used to keep an eye on your pet. The night vision light is poor, and no use when pointing out of a window because the infra red light reflection glare messes up the picture. The thing can rotate 360º and can sometimes rotate randomly, leaving it pointing in a different direction to how you left it.

Live monitoring is dreadful with a lag of between 5 seconds (on a good day) and 20 seconds, and that's when you're on the same wifi network! Presumably because the image info has to go to servers in China and then back to Blighty. Formatting of SD card or USB stick is guesswork.

I'd say avoid, unless you want to cheaply find out what you DO need in a security camera or a baby monitor etc, because this doesn't have it!

No way in hell should anyone trust this as a baby monitor. Seriously.

Light in a box usually need to add postage costs - the base cost is usually free for GearBest
What's the real quality on this one? Crapy video quality and after one year doesn't work properly...
What dafang is this?

Yes , and half of china
In my opinion this is an exellent product...?
No probs with it
I have one. I figure it is the best camera of the type you can get for the price. You might however want to factor in the possibility of having to pay Royal Mail for the (£8?) customs handling fees plus duty, since it is over £15.

I purchased one last month for just under £20 - from gearbest, arrived in a few weeks with no custom chargers.
For the price this is excellent value. I use Foscam cameras in Spain at around £80 - 100 a camera and these knock spots of the Foscams.

Anyone wanting to get more control over their Dafang try looking up "Dafang Hacks" on the googlemabob. You don't need to use the Chinese software / servers etc if you have a small amount of tech know how.

I have never paid customs fees on anything fun Gearbest. I always choose Netherlands post tracked. Gets to me every time with no extra to pay.
