Hmm, do I need to replace my Aqara hub now???

Edited by: "dwl99" 12th Jun
Is this an unusually good price?
I'm tempted to pick this up.
I use a lot of aqara devices via Homey directly but think I might be reaching the limit of battery ZigBee devices...
Need to be on china server last time I checked about a month ago, now can't find it to check
I'm happy to do some googling, but if anyone is feeling charitable with replies that enjoys this type of thing.. what's the benefits of a hub like this?

I've got a relatively no-name WiFi bulb and 2x Yeelight bulbs that are dodgy at best. Can I link them to this and have more control?

The main issue I have is kids turning my lamps off at the power switch, and when turned back on, all 3 need re-syncing to their prospective apps!

Will these work with old China version door and window sensors and wireless buttons?
Is anyone aware if I can use this particular one offline without connecting to the Chinese Server? Then just use it locally to connect Xiaomi devices to my HA(Home Assistant) or integrations similar?
How well integrated is this in homeassistant?

Look at zigbee2mqtt instead if you want that

Home assistant recently added Integrations to use the Gateway as an Alarm.
I haven't exactly got mine to trigger an alarm like it would in the app (I've got V2)

Anyone got any experience with these or the pros of using it over V2?

To be honest this hub is only relevant if you have other xiaomi smart home products been looking at getting one theres also only limited amount of products you can get in a UK server. Your best be is to continue purchasing Tuya or Smart Life products and use with an alexa,Google home or Apple Homepod
Can someone confirm if this hub's coverage is better or worse than the V1 hub?

There’s a lot of good things the aqara hub has this doesn’t. I bought the gateway 3 a while back and althrough it only has a single light and my xiaomi vacuum its still pretty good. I would of gotten the aqara if it wasn’t twice the price and with the plug built in

Providing you set the hub to the China server the yeeha bulbs will work as their a xiaomi company. Unsure of the others

I read somewhere that the integration with HA isn't as good either

I do recall seeing ZigBee2MQTT but I wanted the easiest solution, seems a lot of extra steps required.

I'm sure I came across something saying that these sensors can be directly connected to my HA on PI (albeit only a couple).

Although, I'd be fine using the gateway provided it was easier to block it's internet access/only require it for initial device pairing (I think I read this somewhere but didn't know if anyone in this huge community would have first hand experience with it)
Be careful I don’t think this is on UK/Europe server...
What the risk with running from the China server. Can they heck into your system and control your devices etc?

None, but if you are planning on buying devices that are only available in Europe, it won’t work...

I was reading on a polish smart home website last week where they mentioned that Xiaomi are planning on releasing an EU version of this hub this summer. Hopefully it will just be a case of them including it on the EU servers and then us being able to detect our chinese varients within the Xiaomi app, we'll see!
