They do not even promote motorcycles in the uk either which make sense to cut congestion and pollution. I would love one of these for nipping to local shops but would look daft being 50yr old lol.

No you won't look daft.
If you're anything up to 100Kgs (Xiaomi quote 75 Kg) and as long as you can keep your wits about you and have ridden a bike in the past and can foresee other's stupidity on the road, who cares what they think you look like, they'll be stuck in traffic way way way behind you and you will have reached your destination. As long as you don't live up a massive hill, it's one less stressful thing in your life to worry about. "Where's the frigging bus?" or "how long does it take to walk there?" - no longer something that will ever enter your mind.

I got one about a month ago on the Halfords chancer's 15% off on top of their 15% off promotion and it puts a smile on your face every time you ride it. Paid £288.28

Encourages you to go out of the house more often and what could be better during the summer?

If you've got the funds (even that's a non-issue thanks to Klarna interest free installments) and can see it solving the drudgery of tedious commutes or trips to the supermarket or to your local town - get it.

Like you, I was too concerned what others would think I looked like - who frigging cares!? Just ride it respectfully giving way to / slowing down or sometimes dismounting when pedestrians approach and Robert's your mother's brother.
Mind you, the number of people that will stop and ask you about the scooter, will erode the time you've gained.

I've just installed the Pro dashboard circuit board £15.59 , new compatible cover £2.62 and a silicon rain guard for £1.61 from BangGood (all for £19.82 ordered 10 days ago from China and arrived today). Fitting it is a doddle and more time was spent flashing it with an appropriate bin file to make it work. Took about 20 mins. Now I can see speed in KMH or MPH, benefit from an eco, drive & a sport mode and battery charge indicator benefits from 5 leds from the standard 4, and when charging displayed as numerical figures when the scooter is powered on.

The other thing to get is some Zefal 2" tyre liners ~ £10, some tyre slime ~ £6 for WeldTite - to defend against punctures.
You might want to get some 3D printed parts to provide some elements of protection to the kickstand, the rear brake light cabling that's channeled in the rear mud guard and stem gaskets to prevent it from working loose over time - you can get a kit off eBay for about £8.

So all in with upgrades/accessories - my total cost was £332.01‬

Now need to do a little research on unlocking the top speed and decide whether to go ahead with that or leave it as it is.

Seller not allowed unfortunately, good price though
As a grown man, I don't think that this deal is any use for me.

Wow really!? I have to say, Pure Scooters has been the best company I’ve ever had to deal with. They exchanged my scooter in 2 days because it was part of the recall. Xiaomi would’ve taken 15 working days to repair it if they got their hands on it! Not only is it a good price this, but you get cracking service too.

I live 4 miles away from work in London and i get there in 16 minutes on this scooter after I changed the firmware to go 30km/h. Very handy seeing as my car takes 22 minutes in the morning. 30km/h is not slow for a scooter, I zoom past cyclists and I wouldn't trust any kids on it. You see loads of these in London now and everyone asks where I got it from. I also purchased from purescooters for the 2 year warranty, they also offer to pay over 3 months with no interest and give free next day delivery
My post got deleted and told not allowed on here.
Does anyone know what the cheapest ever price for this has been?
With all the limited time offers and discount codes its difficult to track what the best time to buy would have been.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but they've never been allowed, seen multiple postings for them
if its illegal on the road and on footpaths then what bloody use is it
I don't need the razz on my tail just because i wanted to shave 5 minutes off my daily commute

also good price

I've asked the police numerous times, even passed them on the road. One said 'oh, that's zippy... And he said they're not allowed, but just be careful'.

The other two police laughed when I asked 'would you stop me on this and they said why?'... They don't care.

Also, by the year is over, they'll be legalised and taken away from that silly 1800s carriage rule. Electric bikes are already allowed, this is just blocked because it's not 'pedal assisted".
So is this for use around your garden or estate ?

oh and if you are chancing this outside your garden do you need insurance ? What happens if you hit someone or crash into a car etc

Yes it's just UK that's behind , they are legal most other countries , not sure why mobility scooters are legal
if scooters are not , they don't go fast enough to be any kind of danger

My post didn't even get posted. It got refused in the "review" process!!
shame max weight is 100kg as Im very close to that limit, which probably means this scooter would take me only to the next corner at no speed

Hey, there's a website m365.botox.bz/ follow their instructions u can make your own custom firmware, just Change the top speeds and put the motor power to 3200 or 3300 , tick to change the throttle algorithm it gives h more acceleration. Also change the kers to really high so that it doesn't slow u down when u don't accelerate as it's annoying. It then gives u a file then u download the app they tell you to on the website, connect it to the scooters Bluetooth and open the file, it's quite straightforward and makes a huge difference

You can if you change firmware to take kers off, otherwise the electric brake comes on but won't really work well as where u stand is quite high up so it's abit awkward

How do they make money from things like this? they can't really. Its a catch-22... they need to reduce pollution, yet they need to make money from motorists as well. These things don't require taxing and they don't use fuel, therefore the government make a big fat £0 from it.

Compared to say.. me, with a car that has £555 tax and £1500 insurance. Also what do the government tax on fuels? is it 80%? and my car gets 25mpg at best. If I ditch it for a scooter, they'll be at a loss.

They will eventually slap a massive tax on electricity used for charging electric vehicles. Or when fossil fuels run out we will have a massive war.

To tax them they first need to make them legal.

The ancient laws need to be updated, these need to be made legal because they're environmentally friendly and reduced congestion on the roads. At the same time I think a £5 or £10 tax a year is OK and insurance should be a defo at a capped price of no more than £100 a year, or £150 for those who've had accidents. Mobile charging stations should charge like 50p a hour as well. They need to make money some how. If they can make money from them and there's very minimal accidents involving these then I think they will be made legal.

Will need to give this a gander. Mines on latest firmware so may pose slight problem and will need to downgrade it it looks.
