Pathetic we are so behind the times and need to make green transport legal without so many pathetic laws. Go to Spain (Canaries etc) and there are companies running Segway tours on the pavements (same in USA). Go to USA and see (New York) people powering around the streets at unbelievable speeds on power skateboards. But we are stuck in a bygone age.
I bought this from TomTop a few weeks ago. Been using it to go to work in London everyday - even traded in my underground season ticket, saving me hundreds. No police have even noticed me, been using cycle lanes. Everyone stares and I look like a w***** but I don't care. One of the best purchases I've even made. Bought it for £311, took nearly a month to arrive.

It appears to have 14 18650 batteries running this, interesting to see them becoming such a common power source for so many things.

EDIT: Hang on, 28 of them? I think each is 10wh but will depend on the cell in question.

@tek-monkey Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Are there any benefits to these compared to other types?
@chilko Do you know if this includes import tax or how that would work?
Bought one, because why not?

I'd say good. If it used a proprietary battery you may have issues getting a replacement, as it is made out of common ones there is a high chance you can just remove dead cells and replace them as needed. I have these batteries in my camping torches among other things, they seem to be a new standard for high drain items (obviously a 250w scooter takes more of them than my torch does!)
want.
max weight: 100kg
What if I'm 98.
Does that mean if I put some shoes and jeans on I will exceed the limit and scooter won't work?
Or it will but with some silly small speed like 5km/h?

there estimates are probs underestimated probs want to be 60-80kg for it to be any good, i recon 98kg would be slow

I'd recommend asking them. To clarify what this means. For most imported items, customs duties are low or non existent, it is the VAT that causes a problem. Check when they say 'customs taxes' they will include any local VAT payable on import
hope it doesnt blow up like my segway which was premium brand £6000 worth of damage

No
Why is this not road legal? I have seen several people using similar sized manual scooters in London. Who will know this is powered? Its also got cruise control, so no need to exceed the speed.
Would love one of these for the occasional sunny morning trek to work

Mate those old people on disability/mobility scooters are crazy - they seem to drive on THE ROAD...and on the WRONG SIDE too...and on a ONE WAY street you've got them oncoming head-on!
I try to say something, but even worse, they start swearing and sticking fingers up at you...! It's funny but scary...

So it is not legal in UK ... either on footpath or on the road ???? SO why they are selling it in UK ... I want it so much only if i can find an excuse to use it on the footpath with very low speed
fun but pointless cant use them anywhere, However for a bit of giggle get one of these and a DJI drone on follow me mode - see how many people get upset with you !
I've got a carbon fibre s3 model, all the batteries go in the steering column, apart from the slightly wider tube, it looks the same as a child's push scooter. The same 250w hub motor. It won't tolerate hills but it'll get me to my work a mile and a half away in 10 minutes, with the occasional kick up the hills. I asked a number of police colleagues about being prosecuted on one and they said it wouldn't be worth their time. I've actially rode past arms distance from a policeman and several police vehicles and nothing's been said. I suppose if you ride like a teat and draw attention to yourself it would be different. Had a 1.5kw scooter with a removable saddle, 35 mph top speed but too much of an attention pulled but that was fun
You'd be alright in a rural area, around London? Expect plod.
Getting £303 with that code? What's the trick for OP price?
i ordered one of these from gear best it came in a huge box and very heavy about 20+kg, so I sold it on, as felt too heavy to use easily. But this is a great price, I paid 400 7 months ago

USD price of $370 and paying with a no fee card I guess. Santander zero would be good. Curve card price (1% fee) £291.98.

It says Net Weight: 12.5kg / 27.6lb. That seems completely reasonable

It's fine indoors, or places that are not public footpaths or roads. It might be fine in parks too, depending on local bi-laws etc. Private property would be fine too. Lots of places would be fine, but obviously the most useful places would not be.

They're not, it's being sold in China.
While these aren't road legal electric bikes are, so long as you've got a 250W motor that doesn't kick in above 25km/h. This thing is so close to being legal but I think one requirement to be an ebike is that you have pedals attached to the drivetrain.
if you are over 95kg,than max distance on full charge battery max 18-19km:)))
Electric sccoter or bike? Im looking for a budget transport, was thinkiing of a motorbike but seen electric bikes could be good.
Bought this one from this site. Received it yesterday . Delivery took 21days. Really good purchase
These arent road or pavement legal. Seems pointless unless you are getting for offroad which this is not suitable
To anybody worrying about it being illegal, so long as you start kicking it when you're near police I doubt they're going to give you a second look. Just ensure that the lights don't make it obvious.

I want one so badly; to sit in the garage with the other stuff I don't use with two wheels... Thanks summer....
Seriously looking to get this, has anyone ordered this or anything similar, and got hit by import duty or vat? Thanks
