If you dont mind buying from Aliexpress, you can have it for £195.

This is a decent price but it will be the China Rom, which may need a bit of messing on arrival. Also, banggood have a peculiar habit of not sending things in the original box, but replacing it with a polystyrene one for 'safety'. Not a problem, possibly, but might make it worth less if you want to sell it on at some point.

Hi badboyofrock, sorry for using you as a fount of knowledge on all things Mi5 but I thought I would just pick your brains once more. I got my new Mi5 yesterday and I'm just playing with it now and doing an OTA upgrade to MIUI V8.1.2.0.MAAMIDI can I be confident that this is the official ROM and should be malware free.

I'm just a little paranoid before adding all of my personal data to the phone.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Best thing to do would be to look on the download page of the MIUI website at the global downloads for the Mi5. Find the latest version and check that the numbers all match up with the update that is showing on your device. If they are exactly the same, you should be fine.

I posted a deal for the Mi5 just before Christmas which, unfortunately has risen in price now. If you can stretch to it, it's a great device, and I'm more than pleased with mine. Mi Max is a good phone, but is Very large, and not for everyone. You could get a Redmi Note 3 within your budget, which is an almost legendary device. You could also get the Redmi Note 4, but at the moment would struggle to find one with the Snapdragon CPU, although only you would know if this is a problem. Both these devices have the 5.5 inch screen, so are large without being too large. I've been checking the Geekbuying website as I find them reasonably priced, but they would also be available at your favourite seller.

You should be ok but there's a fairly comprehensive guide to double check here - miui.my/miu…om/

Thanks, great advice! Checked your previous deals and threads and opting for mi max phablet!
