Its why the Mi A1 is more popular.

Is this the same camera as the MiA1?

Had a RN4 and i thought the camera was terrible.. tempted by one of these or a MiA1 for the spec but not sure if the camera will be worth it.

Could pick up a very decent second hand iphone or a samsung for around the same price

Going by my experience with the RN4 it did'nt live up to near its specs, i would'nt just go by the numbers... more than glad to be to proven wrong

But you are talking about the camera only, right? Or what else disappointed you about its performance?

It will have English language i have a redmi note 3 china version and it has English, simplified Chinese and Mandarin Chinese all Xiaomi phones have English language even the China only versions

From what I gathered, Mi A1 is a slightly tweaked Mi 5X.
It is 1. does not use MIUI and 2. more for international market.
Camera wise, could be similar.
But, reckon better served by the Mi A1

You can cross-flash this one and make it into an A1. The only thing it won't support is OTA updating because of the A1's partitioning system.

Band 20 is a relic that has long overstayed its welcome and needs to go.

The hardware is 100% identical. It's just a different software build system and the FM radio is soft-disabled on the A1.

Hi Markmulv,
Here is quite a good review of a Mi A1 and a review of the camera.
This may help in your appraisal of Mi 5X.
I think there is no image stabilisation whatsoever at this price range
and expectations of a good camera experience is going to be comparatively
limited (with models with image stabilisation)
As for Spark's comment of being 100% identical, I can't comment as
I haven't read that mentioned and I don't know.

I agree, but most of UK networks are still using BAND 20 for 4G

And to other people - Mi a1 and mi 5x are hardware identical, however, A1 is pure android one (which allow you to be up to date with google OS updates) when 5X is flashed with Xiaomi MUIU interface and preloaded apps.

If the hardware wasn't identical in every way then this simply wouldn't be possible.

3 don't. It tends to be the poorer networks (IMHO) that do simply because they don't want to pay to move with the times and use a more suitable part of the spectrum.

I've got the Mi A1 on the way I.think anyone considering this deal should look at the Mi A1, pure android B20. I cancelled my N4 order. The lack of optimal image stabilisation is very noticable on youtube videos, but everything else looks good for a sub £170 smartphone
